Title: Eats DVD diskS without eject option, don’t buy
Review: Was always difficult using, often would not engage DVD, or stop working mid-way, then self eject. More and more often player malfunctioned until it stopped altogether with a DVD disk stuck inside. There is no mechanical way to eject stuck disk (like pin hole to eject manually), so once it’s stuck it’s final. Tried every possible eject option, nothing worked. Had it five months and now e-junk, very disappointed. Bad quality, poor design, gets one star. DON’T buy it.

Review: When I got this product, I could not get it to play my DVD. It wouldn’t even show on my computer that it was plugged in and available.I contacted the seller and explained my situation. She asked a few questions which I answered and she happily replaced it. The new one works great.I would definitely recommend this product and company!

Review: I recently replaced a 2011 MacBook Pro with a 2020 with the M1 core (also known as a glorified iPhone, but I digress); I needed something to play/process music and noodle around in Photoshop.The very first thing I did with this thing was to install Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021 and All Went Off Without a Hitch, and/or an Alfred Hitchcock.Nice looking; seems solidly built; very responsive [email] customer support; sturdy case and works with Big Sur. So I got nothing to complain about, and, should I ever, I’m convinced these people are for real about customer retention because as soon as you open the package you get a polite message about getting an extra year of warranty just for registering.Strongly recommended. Yes, they did politely ask me to post a review for them and no, I haven’t used it much, but I’ve read a lot of other reviews by a bunch of crybabies and Prima Donnas who need their diapers changed because — the thing is too LOUD? Seriously? It’s a DVD drive. It’s mechanical, for those of you who remember that term from the twentieth century.But obviously, dahlings, my Phavrorite Part is that the Phinish Matches the Dahling Space Gray of theOh-So-Pristine-MacBook.Obviously I’m so happy I can hardly count.

Title: Overall a nice drive; but difficult to insert disks without scratching them
Review: Initially, I was very impressed with this drive. Build quality of the drive enclosure and packaging were excellent. I ran a quick test and the drive worked fine with reading and writing CD’s.However, I found it difficult to load the cd’s without rubbing and scratching them on the case of the drive. This wasn’t an issue on my last slot loading drive. The problem with this drive is the at the padding (felt?) around the insert slot is set back and you have to pass the CD through part of the metal case first. If the cd insertion angle isn’t just right (the margin for error is very small) the CD will rub against the lip of the case. I can probably get 8 out of 10 cd’s inserted without a problem if I’m very careful. But any potential to damage a disk doesn’t work for me. I’m transferring a few hundred CD’s into Apple lossless (had used ACC previously) including some SACD’s that are not replaceable. So I found using this drive too much like playing a game of “Operation” and returned it.In place of this drive I purchased the OWC Mercury Pro (there is a DVD and Blu-Ray version) which I would highly recommend if you don’t need portability. This is tray loading, has great build quality, and has better specs. The downside is that it’s more expensive and also much larger & heavier. There is also a tray loading version of the NOLYTH/Confoly drive that looks like a good option too.

Review: If you have considered purchasing an Apple USB Supedrive don’t bother. Buy this one instead. Its form factor is the same, its silent operation is the same, its build quality is the same, except this one comes in two MacBook Pro colors grey or silver, it has an adapter in case you want to use USB A instead of the USB C which is attached to the drive, it even comes with a high quality case which Apple didn’t bother to give. This is one heck of a great buy and I am delighted!!! 5/5 stars for this incredible value!!

Review: I’ve found the NOLYTH Apple USB Superdrive to be a good quality product. My original Apple Superdrive was stating to play up and as Apple has discontinued the manufacture of their product I had to find a replacement.
