Title: The crown jewel for fans of classic Queen
Review: I’ve waited almost forty years for a legit release of this gem and finally, here it is. For US fans of Queen the first introduction to this concert may have come by way of its broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour in September of 1977. That one hour broadcast (less ten minutes of advertising) closed as the final notes of “Lap of the Gods” rang through the Odeon. For time considerations the short instrumental of “Bring Back That Leroy Brown” was excluded from the King Biscuit syndicated version, as were the spoken introduction and the encores included on this CD. This CD gives you the full enchilada. The performance is deliriously good. As I savored this prize upon its arrival I remembered every nuance; even after all this time I know this show by heart. I’d taped the show off the radio back in ’77 and played that cassette to death. What a good feeling to finally have “Son and Daughter” complete, without its being cut in half for having to flip the tape! If your experience is similar to mine you’ll recognize little bits of dialogue and stage patter that were excluded from the US re-broadcast of this concert. Since the show was recorded and broadcast on Christmas Eve, 1975, Freddie and Brian make several mentions of the holiday, including a toast, and thanks, and Christmas wishes. With this official release these bits are restored, adding flavor to the event. Even better are the encores of Peggy Lee’s “Big Spender”, Elvis’ “Jailhouse Rock” and the live version of Queen II’s climax, “Seven Seas of Rhye”.You may already have a couple of the tracks here if you purchased recent reissues of “Queen II” or “Sheer Heart Attack” which included “White Queen” and “Now I’m Here” as bonus tracks.Sound is great, no muddiness that is often characteristic of live shows. The setlist you can see for yourself; it’s guaranteed to satisfy any longtime fan of Queen, especially those of us who favor those first five albums. If that describes you, I can’t encourage you enough to check out also Live at the Rainbow ’74. Two shows from ’74, one from March and one from November, just one year prior to this Odeon show. In this Odeon show one of my favorite moments was Brian’s guitar solo on “Brighton Rock”. Listen to the Rainbow sets and you’ll recognize a lot of that same solo, just cut and pasted into a different song. The day this was to broadcast, a friend invited me over so we could catch the show. I had to work that night at quite possibly the crappiest job I’d ever had as a kid. With the encouragement of my friend I walked into that job, quit on the spot, and went over to my friend’s house to enjoy this show. At this ripe old age I can say unequivocally, not only do I have no regrets, I did the right thing. Enjoying this show for so many years was worth quitting my job.

Title: They are my favorite band since the 70s and I love 99% of …
Review: I an basis when it comes to Queen. They are my favorite band since the 70s and I love 99% of their work. I have so many bootlegs of this gig and I have turned so many people onto this show. I am glad that this is now available legally and domestically. The sound and picture remastering is suburb and the bands performance is brilliant!. The stand out tracks from this gig are Ogre Battle (eat your heart out Metallica!! lol), The White Queen, and Liar – which is in another world when it comes to delivery. Dr. May smokes out a great lead in this song and it highlights a band feeding off of each others energy. Another great fact about having this in bootleg form, there is just one little fix with the sound. Other that that, there are no overdubs or re-working of the music track. What you hear is what the band played live as it went out over the radio and TV. i highly recommend this DVD/CD.

Title: Another GREAT release from the vaults!
Review: Another must-have for Queen fans! Although not as great as the “Rainbow” box set from a couple years back, still very much essential.I’ve owned a “bootleg” copy of this dvd for years.Let me tell you the picture and sound quality on the blue-ray disc is outstanding.Sadly, the BBC didnt keep the cameras rolling for the entire show but, what they did capture is pure gold.I highly recommend this box-set.The hard-back book is gorgeous. The CD is FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC! It contains some of the missing songs from the show, including a scorching version of “See What a Fool I’ve Been”.(also owned on bootleg of this but of course the sound quality here is pristine) Theres all sorts of ephemera included as well.Of course the main draw is the DVD.Lets hope theres more to come. There are clips included of their famed “Hyde Park” show.Lets hope thats next to get a “box-set” treatment or even just a dvd release.C’mon folks follow the Rolling Stones lead,no sense in keeping these shows locked in a vault.Give us fans what we really want!

Title: Absolutely amazing! 5/Stars!
Review: If you love the rock band Queen, you will not be disappointed! Hard back booklet in itself is enough for me to buy this. The blu ray was just amazing! Freddie Mercury is on the top of his game here. Recommend!

Title: QUEEN REIGNS MY DARLINGS!
Review: Lots of goodies, including the fantastic music that Freddie, Brian, John and Roger were making! Show minus two songs (they’re on the CD disc), on blu-ray. Bohemian Rhapsody single (comes in original ’75 single cover) on 12″ vinyl with “Now I’m Here” soundcheck as the b-side. The goodies (poster, pins, passes, etc…) are a bit overwhelming and almost overpower the music in this box. Queen was so heavy in those days and “White Queen” or “Ogre Battle” explode with thunder – literally! Great hardcover book with big and bombastic pictures! Minus point towards the horrendous cover of the box. There are so many amazing pictures of the ’75 tour out there. The whole band should have been represented. Queen reigns my Darlings!

Title: Great performance!
Review: I heard this show as a bootleg CD long ago and never understood why it was never officially released. Well, finally, it has been. This show was originally broadcast live on radio and TV when Queen was touring to support “A Night at the Opera.” All four members are in top form and the sound quality is exceptional, especially for a live album. If you are a fan of Queen, especially their early stuff, you owe it to yourself to own this record. An added bonus is it comes with a digital download certificate, so you can immediately have a copy to play on any iPod or MP3 player.

Review: A Night At The Odeon, is a live album from the legendary band Queen. The record was recorded at end of their 1975 UK tour. The show ended with a blistering energetic set at the Hammersmith Odeon and was the first on stage performance of the band featured on live television.Released in 2015 as a standard live album, bluray concert video and vinyl box-set, A Night At The Odeon is an album that a lot of old time Queen fans had been seeking for many years. This performance from Christmas Eve ’75 was often considered one of the most, if not the most regularly bootlegged show through out the band’s career. What makes this show so special for most is the fact that it quite literally captures the band at their peak. The group is clearly thirsty for success and are hellbent on achieving their goal no matter what. This leads to some of the bands most impressive work ever put down to tape. Brian May especially sounds fantastic as he tears his way through every song with heavy riffs and beautiful soaring licks, utilising that unique guitar tone in every imaginable manner he could conjure. The rhythm section featuring Roger Taylor and John Deacon is absolutely thunderous. The low end from both musicians stellar performance is right in your face providing the band with a solid rhythm. Of course, you have to mention the one and only Freddie Mercury. The vocal performance on A Night At The Odeon, is hands sound the smoothest performance I have heard from Mercury. There isn’t so much as a strain on his beautifully powerful voice and he doesn’t over utilise vibrato, unlike his later performances. This live set is very similar to Live at the Rainbow ’74, there was barely a year between both performances after all. But A Night At The Odeon is easily the most consistent performance from the band and the sound in general. Everything comes across suitably powerful and is a must have for fans of Queen who love to listen to the group before they softened their sound for mass exposure.Published by Steven Lornie of Demonszone
