Title: Works great!
Review: First off, we have peeled, cored and cooked our apples for… well always. It’s a long process and something I dreaded each fall. I purchased this with low expectations but high hopes and I’m so happy that I did. So far, I processed two full presses yielding 3 ½ gallons of juice! Our juice came out dark and sweet due to our variety.Thank you to the people who suggested sealing the wood before use. I immediately put all the wooden parts into a white mineral oil bath (also amazon) to soak overnight. The next day I assembled and was of to the races. This is a rather large and awkward contraption. I mounted mine to a piece of butcher block and made 12″ legs to keep it off the ground. I washed, chopped, ground and pressed all right next to our trees. Afterward I just hosed everything down and left it out to dry.I need to do some thing different with the grinder. It has feet but needs to be over a container of some sort so it’s not stable. This makes it difficult to use out of the box. The feet do fit exactly around the lip of a 5 gallon bucket so it’s workable but it will keep trying to “jump” off as you crank.Overall, amazing purchase and would ABSOLUTELY recommend this to anyone with apple trees!

Title: Good press for the money.
Review: Just so anyone reading this is aware. You must assemble most of this press yourself. It isn’t hard to assemble, just be ready to spend an afternoon putting it together. That being said, the press functions well, but is more focused around small volumes. I made apple cider for the first time this year, and it was a great press for a beginner. It is also fairly easy to take apart and clean.

Title: Good and Inexpensive
Review: Works great. It has to be put together but wasn’t difficult. As mentioned by others, you might need to add a couple more short pieces of board to extend the plunger all the way to the bottom. My daughter uses it to squeeze the juice out of blackberries and muscadines to make seedless jelly. Haven’t used it for apples or pears yet but we’ve squeezed numerous batches of berries.

Title: Functional and durable.
Review: It is functional as described on the webpage. Solidly build and easily to use. I used it to press apples, oranges, pineapples, and pomegranates. However, before buying this items, make sure you have a power tool because screwing 50 screws into the wood slats will be, literally, painful. Not mentioning the top wood block press has no pilot holes. The webpage says the lead screw is rust-free; not really, it will rust. Powered coating was done poorly and it will chip at high pressure points. Note fruit juice will stained the wood slats. At the current selling price, all these issues are not a deal breaker.Note to manufacturer:1. To avoid juices making contact with the black grease on the lead screw, make the lead screw shorter and connecting extension rod longer.2. Double/triple the wooden blocks so that the press can process less than 20 fruits.

Title: Makes apple juice
Review: Makes pure, sweet, clean apple juice from the apples in my yard. The finer you can get the apple scatter (chopped apples) the more juice you will yield. I used this in conjunction with the squeeze master apple crusher, but then further ground my apples to get the most juice.I was able to squeeze the apple scatter as hard as I could with all my strength, and this thing held up. Thumbs up.

Title: Low quality and previously returned
Review: Item was returned, but the previous purchaser did leave a nice screwdriver in the box. All the pieces were floating around in the box. Central screw hole was crooked making it not line up properly. Pilot holes in the barrel staves were inconsistent, so that would have been a nightmare if I had tried to assemble it.

Title: It works, but small you NEED to have extra wood shimsz
Review: So this thing works, but it’s tiny and takes quite a bit of effort to get a liter to gallon of cider. Good starter press but I’ll buy a bigger one next season. The base and rod is thick steel and SOLID. But the wood slats are kind of small / thin. They can break easily if you’re not careful when setting the round pressure plates. It survived the dozen or so rounds we put it through, but i can’t see this lasting more than a few seasons without needing to change the wood slats. You have to screw this down to something like plywood or a table or you won’t be able to turn it without 2 people. Also you MUST have small extra wood blocks to shim the pressure plate or the handle will bottom out before all the apples are juiced out. When it’s FULL of apples, you’ll be lucky to get a full glass from one press. If you’re just starting out like I was, just know this little thing is slow to get a gallon or two, and takes a lot more effort than some bigger ones. It worked for us, but I’ll spend a little more and get a bigger more sturdy one next year.

Review: Came on time. Packaged appropriately so it wouldn’t be damaged. All parts there. The quality is appropriate for the price. All of the metal parts are good heavy metal. I would guess steel by the weight. They have a nice thick coating to protect the metal and it’s easy to wipe clean. I will need to get some edible mineral oil to keep the screw in good condition. This isn’t even as bad as a IKEA furniture build. Don’t be worried about the reviews saying the build was so hard. A little time consuming to screw 25 slats. Maybe half an hour. I’m a 115lb, 50 year old woman. If I can do it, anyone can.The slats need to be screwed on using a drill. Get the right drill bit so you don’t strip the screws. Press down hard as you screw them in. Notice all the flat ends go one way and the rounded ends go the other way.Notice in the picture I cut spare pressing blocks from 2”x 2” lumber.I screwed the base to a piece of painted plywood and used clamps to keep it tight on a small folding table. You need to secure it to something for turning the press. Otherwise it would just slide around. The instructions do say this.I pre-shredded my apples using a counter top salad master hand shredder. My Ninja blender also worked but only did about 6 apples at a time. Dumping it and scraping the blender really slowed down the process, so I switched to the counter top shredder.I looked up tips online for pressing apple juice. They said if you freeze the apples first and then press, you get more juice.I froze the shredded apple in large ziploc bags, then thawed to press the juice. It took longer than expected to thaw. Give a full 24hours.The first apples I dumped in still had ice crystals. When I pressed it, I got a big apple ice cube. So I had to dig it all out. I put the next bags into hot water to thaw them completely before pressing. We used the press at a Harvest Festival to show the kids an old school way to make juice. It was a big hit. We sold it by the glass as a fundraiser for the school.Just used once so far. We pressed 120lbs of apples. Nothing broke.Another tip was to soak the wood pieces in 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water for 5 minutes, then let air dry to sanitize before the first use.To store for the winter…I sanitized the wood in bleach water 1 tbsp to 1/2 sink of hot water. I letEach side soak for half an hour. I set the pieces on a towel in front of my electric fireplace for a couple days to dry completely. I will store it in an open cardboard box covered with a plastic bag. Keep the dust off, but let the air get in if it wasn’t fully dry.I feel the negative reviews are completely unfair. They must be a one off flaw

Review: This review is for the 18L press. Easy to assemble if you are able to read instructions and use a screwdriver. Welding of the metal rings looks like it was done by a blind person, but seems to have held up so far. Expect some paint to chip off the turn handle – not an issue as long as you are vigilant and stop it going into the fruit. We took the advice of previous reviews and had additional bits of wood on hand to use as spacers. Without this we would have struggled to have got as much juice out of the apples as we did. Invest in a crusher so that the fruit is broken up before putting into the press. We used for a small batch of ~14kgs of apples. I think 20kgs of apples would get you two presses worth of apples.Looking forward to seeing how our first batch of cider progress!

Review: -Easy instructions to follow.-Important to always anchor the press.-Important to always use a crusher before.-There is an extra screw in the box, in case you lose one during assembly..-Clean all equipment before and after use.-The mesh bag can go in the washer, but not the dryer.-Build extra blocs, take a few minutes, but they will be required. My package had a part missing, part No. 1: the handle. All other parts were in the package, so I decided to assemble things, and opened a ticket with Amazon. In no time, the company contacted me to confirm my request (to obtain a handle), and also to provide me with a link to order extra mesh bags. They gave me a link with a discounted price on the mesh bags, and shipped the handle. My other press is 60 or 80 gallons, not sure, but far to large. This new small press is what I required.I’ve done my first batch of apple cider yesterday, worked great (I used apples that fell from the tree, not as yummy locking, but perfect for this). My tree is a little insane this year, I have to put some 2×4 to protect the branches from breaking (so many apples this year). They are not very suite yet, but like I’ve done in the past, I’ll be making sparkling cider, and apple brandy. If you have questions on how to do this, you ask away. And yes, I’ll add pictures of the tree, the press, and cider making (hint: I like to pasteurize the juice, so that I can add my favorite yeast). Wild yeast can give amazing, or horrible results. Using beer yeast if perfect. Don’t use champagne yeast, or your cider will be dry like mad.
