Title: Works great
Review: Solid enclosure that provides fast and reliable file access. The mechanical on/off switch is a major plus for me, it means that if you ever have a power outage, the hard drive will spin right back up on its own without manual intervention.

Title: Solid enclosure, well built and dependabe
Review: I have 6 of these now and use them on my m1 macbook pro and m1 mac mini without any issues. I have a mix of 16 to 22tb drives in each of them (Seagate and Western Digital), mainly used for longer term storage of media projects for clients (along with a second backup). I love the ability to stack them up and daisy chain them with the usbc pass through on each. I have a little stack of 80+ TB right next to my laptop in a neat stack. One of them I leave the cover off to use as a quick dock bay for quick swap (not hot swap). Highly recommended product from my experience.

Title: Issues with initial item, but replaced for free by vendor
Review: Update: The vendor reached out to me after I wrote of how my drive enclosure had failed and offered to send a replacement, free of charge. It arrived two days later. The new enclosure is working perfectly, without any problems powering all three USB hub ports and the drive itself at the same time, so I assume I was simply unlucky enough to get a rare defective item in my initial order.I’m very pleased with the enclosure and with this customer service, so I can definitely recommend this enclosure as a good and economical way to attach a SATA drive and also gain some extra USB ports. Just note that the product does not come with a USB-C to USB-C connection cable, so if your computer only has USB-C ports you’ll need a cable from elsewhere to hook it up.Original review below:Drive had a few issues. First, despite being marketed as a USB-C drive, and using a USB-C port to connect to a computer, it only came with a USB-C to USB-A cable. Fortunately I had a spare USB-C to USB-C cable I could use to connect it to my computer’s USB-C port.Second, the enclosure had issues with power to the USB ports in its built-in USB hub. Whenever those ports drew too much power, the ports would work fine but the enclosed drive would disconnect. It would not be detectable at all by my computer, even as unmounted, until I powered the enclosure off and on again. This happened almost immediately whenever using both the USB-A and USB-C ports simultaneously, but fortunately I didn’t need the extra USB-C port, and I used the USB-A port to connect to a hub with its own external power supply. Even then, the drive would spontaneously disconnect this way once or twice a month. Because I was only using it for backup data storage, this was only a minor inconvenience.Third, and most serious, this enclosure abruptly failed completely after eight months of steady use the moment I tried connecting a low-power device to its USB-C port. The LED still works, but there’s no power to the USB ports and no power to the drive. The hard drive itself, once moved to a new enclosure, was perfectly fine. The price is great, and it was handy to have a hard drive enclosure that also has extra USB ports, thus saving ports on my computer, but I can’t recommend this item.

Title: Using 3 for RAID
Review: I purchased three of these for use as a software RAID 0 on my Mac Mini M2. Each has a Seagate 8 TB drive. When first starting up all three, I have really great speeds in the 450MB/s realm. But after about 20 or 30 minutes of use, my speeds get throttled down to 60MB/s for some unknown reason. The hard drives came out of a Synology NAS with no speed issues, so I can only think that it is the enclosures that are throttling the speed somehow. I have the enclosures stacked on top of one another, and they do get quite hot after some use.

Title: Terrible product… HDD frequently disconnects from PC
Review: This enclosure may look cool, but when it comes to functionality, it is terrible. My PC cannot identify what HDD is in it and returns a “Set Address Failed” error, but the HDD is still accessible. However, the HDD frequently disconnect from PC without any reason. I have a different, way-cheaper enclosure that never experience this problem. The Type C and USB 3.1 hubs are no better than just a decoration. They do not reach the labeled speed.

Review: Great enclosure, nice and solid. I’m using a 14GB Seagate Ironwolf Pro 7200rpm and read/write speeds are around 220 MB/s which I’m happy with. The only problem I have is if the drive is left idle for even 10 seconds, it takes about 10 – 15 seconds to wake again. So if you’re looking at photos in Lightroom and you work on one and then go to the next image the drive has to wake up which gets frustrating after a while. As a backup drive, the MAIWO is great. If anyone has a solution as to what the issue might be please post.UPDATE: I’ve changed the USB cord connecting the MAIWO to my laptop with a high-speed data cable and the wake-up is much less at around 2-4 seconds. I’ve therefore upped my rating to 4 stars.

Review: I purchased this item to use with my M1 Mac but it does not work. It is advertised as USB 3.2 divice but it actually uses USB 3.1 2nd Gen interface, which is not compatible with M1 Macs. It works with my old intel Mac , but not with M1 MAX Mac book pro.
