Title: Heavy duty, well made parts
Review: Takes a bit to assemble and be careful, I got a few nicks on my hands in the process. Instructions are pretty good, diagrams could be better, had the handle on backwards the fist time. A good hour plus to assemble depending on your abilities and I’m pretty handy. Product is really heavy duty, all parts are made from pretty thick steel and it will last a long time. It’s heavy, assemble it where you can just roll it out to wherever you are going to store it. I used it, adding two 30lb dumbbells and a couple of old disk brake rotors to the tray. These plug aerators are much better than the spike kind, they cost a bit more but it’s worth it. Cost when compared to the cost of a lawn service doing it is good, almost pays for itself after the first use at least for my lawn. Just hooked to the riding lawnmower and away I went.

Title: Trick for the issue with the instructions
Review: Just finished assembling the aerator, haven’t used it yet but wanted to offer a tip for those who may have issues with step 12. If you see “please note this is a difficult step” and “don’t tighten until the last step” you know someone messed up. The issue is with the clearance with the lower bolt on the lift handle as it attaches with the wheel bracket. The bolt they specified is 1.25″ long when it should be 1″. Two recommendations, take the knifes off the neighboring “single spool assembly,” then swap out the 1.25″ bolt they recommend for a 1″ that you can take from the hitch bracket. Put in the 1.25″ bolt on the top and the 1″ on the bottom, then reattach the knifes and you should be good to go. There’s a couple of other “someone clearly didn’t think this through” spots in the instructions but you can work around them. This step 12 was the tricky spot.

Title: Well worth the money
Review: Do not listen to the other reviews. This product had very good detail when it came to assembly. Even if you didn’t understand the parts the instructions had a picture for each one. Also told how many parts for the exact one. The box for the blades had the nuts and bolts in it so you couldn’t get confused. The most time consuming was putting 24 blades on. Once together the aerator did a outstanding job aerating my yard. I used a zero turn mower and put 4 center blocks on the product for weight. The results was awesome and I got 2 3/4 inch plugs from it. Just follow the instructions and you will have no trouble. And on a side note… read the warning and directions before you use it. Don’t try to back up with it, and don’t do any sharp turns. Overall, well worth the money

Title: Does a good job!
Review: Assembled in 3 hours (playing classic rock in the background may have slowed me down a bit). Assembly was fairly easy using the instructions provided. All pieces and hardware were present, with a couple of extra bolts, nuts, and washers thrown in (thanks)! Pulled the aerator with a Craftsman Z5200 mower with ease. Went at a slow speed and did my .99 acre in about 45 minutes. We had spotty showers for a couple of days prior and the ground was just right for aerating. Very pleased with the results and would highly recommend!

Title: Works well
Review: Once assembled, very good product, would buy again. Caution: got shorted one of the eight required axle bushings so couldn’t complete assembly. Called company, they fast mailed me a set of bushings, excellent fix, good company. Assembly is a little involved, lots of parts, instructions are good-not-great at describing all the different little pieces and where they go.

Title: Well built, Assembly is tedious, and is manufactured by a different company
Review: I give it a 4 star. The product is heavy duty, but there are 2 things that make this a 4 instead of a 5 star. As the other reviewers pointed out, the assembly is time consuming. The parts, nuts, and bolts are not labeled and for the most part come jumbled up in a plastic bag. I started to assemble trying to sort through the bag to find each nut and bolt required, but that was awkward so I put like parts on the cardboard box and labeled them, which made it a little easier. The directions are still tough to follow even after that. The other reason is partially my fault for not reading the product thoroughly, but I am sure others will do the same. After reading the product details a little further, I noticed that this was manufactured by Agri-Fab, so Craftsman doesn’t actually make this and that is why its difficult to get any type of customer support if you needed it as the other reviewers mentioned. Agri-Fab sells this model for $154 as opposed to $199, so you are paying for an Agri-Fab with Craftsmans signature Red paint for the extra money, which is totally pointless in my opinion unless you really care about the color of the aerator and a tiny Craftsman sticker logo on the back of the unit…

Title: Instructions are really terrible. I haven’t tried the product yet
Review: I received this product in great time. The pieces look to be well made. Unfortunately, the other reviewers are correct. The instructions are terrible. The pictures are not correct. The screws and nuts that come with the kits are not the same that are described in the instructions. It took me over 3 hours to put it together. Also, there are extra parts (screws, nuts, these little plastic pieces, etc.). Also, there are drilled out holes in pieces of metal that have no use (they are covered up). It is fine to use many parts in several products, but this sloppiness costs the customer time. The instructions also were not clear on how to install the wheel assembly — I had to take one thing apart and re-do. This wastes your customer’s time. The instructions did not mention the plastic pieces. I am sure that the aerator will work well, but I expect better from Craftsman products.

Title: Great Product, Great price
Review: Easy to assemble because all parts were included and instructions were clear. Took about two hours to assemble taking my time. Coring knives were not pre-installed as mentioned in previous comments but there is a good reason for this- knives are sharp and it is better NOT having them in the way while connecting other parts. The knives are very easy to install at the end by tipping the unit on it’s end. Aerator cored the lawn very well.
