Title: After over 60 years of photography this is the best camera I have used.
Review: I started with photography back in 1959 and shot with Nikon for over 40 years and later with LUMIX, Fuji film, and now the OM 5. I moved to the OM 5 because it was the lightest camera I could find with the quality I demanded. I have been a newspaper photographer, a freelance photographer,a wedding photographer and today a street photographer. This camera produces as good an image as any I have ever used.For some one thinking it is to complex a camera to learn on there is the “P” setting. You can grow to be a good photographer using this camera, if you let it teach you. The camera companies spend hundreds of dollars in research to make these systems that are a marvel of AI. This could well be the only camera you need. The lens available are plentiful and can often be found used. Just a really great system.

Title: Best m43 camera anywhere near its price
Review: You can read professional reviews of what’t inside this. In its price range, although I think I got it on sale, this is the best m43 option for most people who are not convinced that more expensive gear means better images.The other guys’ m43 near this price range have a bizarre hybrid focus system that once you push it you will see the issues. The phase type focus in this may not be the world’s best but its a step up.The camera is well made, weather sealed (not waterproof) and yields excellent raw images (I have not shot a jpeg with any dSLR in many years so no opinion). It has some computational goodies, like stacked focus with appropriate lens, hi resolution mode and neutral density if that matters, and records quality non-log 4k video. I’ve been using m43 and ff side by side for more years than I want to admit–the Image Quality to camera heft ratio of m43 is unbeatable, particularly if you are fond of long teles (see comments about focus).The EVF is physically smaller than what you will get in FF so its important to block light coming in around the eye–true for all smaller EVF cameras. Otherwise it has every read-out you can imagine, some of which are even utile.One real knock, sadly common to too many dSLRs, is that the manual seems to have been translated from the original Klingon by a Wookie. You may have to do a web search to find out how to do what you want to do if you can’t penetrate the manual.

Title: Nice, but not the feature set I needed
Review: Several years ago, I switched from a Pen-F (digital) to an OMD EM1 mk III, to get the hand-held high res feature. The EM1-3 has been great, but for my purposes, a travel outfit where both the camera and the lenses are truly lightweight, the EM1-3 is a bit heavy. Since the OM-5 has the same 20mp sensor as my EM1-3 but weighs almost 7 ounces less, it seemed worth getting to save nearly half a pound, which is a lot in a m43 system.The OM-5 is very nice and has a better (OLED) finder than the EMI-1. But the OM-5 has only a slight bit of a handgrip. If you stick with the small prime lenses, the OM-5 is a dream. But if you mount one of the bigger lenses (still small, compared to other formats) you’ll probably want more of a grip. Handgrips are available, but they add 3-4 ounces at which point the weight savings vs. the EM1-3 is negligible.The other thing that didn’t quite work was the single custom memory setting on the OM-5. The EM1 mk III has four. Because there are so many settings on these cameras, it makes sense to set up your camera in advance for different situations. (And please, I own Nikon and Canon systems and they also have lengthy menus with too many options; this is not something unique to one brand).It’s possible to re-assign the buttons on the OM-5 for use as additional custom memories, but this turned out to be kind of a hassle compared to a single knob that says Custom 1, Custom 2, etc. So I am sticking with the EM1 mk III. Custom mode #1 is my go-to, f/4 at ISO 200; Custom #2 is exposure brackets at ISO 200, Custom #3 is exposure brackets at Auto ISO for low light, and Custom #4 is handheld high res. I can do all these things without touching a single button. Just turn the camera on, and rotate the knob. Of course Custom is just what it says. If you don’t have requirements like mine, the OM-5 is a lovely camera. Nothing in full frame or even APS can match what these little cameras can do without taking on more weight.

Review: Soy usuario del sistema micro4/3 de Olympus y decidí comprar de la compañía sucesora la OM5 por tener un nuevo procesador (el de la EM1MIII) y las funciones de autoenfoque a estrellas y el hand held high resolution que son muy útiles para fotografía de vía Láctea y campo amplio; aún no la estreno en astro fotografía pero ya hice mi primer senderismo con ella, llevar una cámara pequeña, ligera, con capacidad para fotografiar en alta resolución a pulso (50mpx) facilita mucho para ir a cualquier sitio sin mucha carga (¡no necesito trípode!). No me gusta que usa carga vía cable mini usb y batería bls-50 (tengo dos cámaras Olympus que usan distintas baterías y ya ¡me llené de baterías y cargadores distintos!), sin embargo vale la pena pues es una cámara resistente a la intemperie (prácticamente no hay otra con sus características con ipx 53). Anexo las primeras fotografías hechas con la OM 5. Muy recomendable

Review: La cámara apenas esta bien, es muy CARA, muchas funciones, relativamente pequeña, botonería completa, ergonomía no me gusto es difícil de agarrar, sientes que se te cae, falta grip, batería MALA, obsoleto Micro USB, eso si buena APP completa y rápida y se pueden descargar los RAW, estabilizador OK según es el mejor del mercado, si lo creo, sin embargo muchas fotos borrosas y comparado con mi RX100 III con similares velocidades de obturación, resultado a similar cantidad de fotos borrosas (hasta 1/3 de seg), no me gusto el autoenfoque, no detecta fácilmente a las personas, solo de muy cerca y completamente volteando hacia la cámara, pocos puntos de enfoque lo cual ya esta anticuado, no autoenfoque a mascotas ( es en serio ? ) nisiquiera solo en fotos, el lente que viene 12-45 F4 Pro, muy nítido pero F4 en un sensor micro 4/3 es ridiculo, completamente ridiculo, ni las cámaras APS-C vienen con KIT F4 normalmetne es F3.5, sirve solo y solo de día, básicamente de noche es inservible para tomar fotos a personas, los colores se estropean por la necesidad de subir el ISO o tienes que tener a la persona como estatua para poder bajar la velocidad de obturación lo cual es igualmente ridiculo. Por otro lado la gente de OM System se ve que quiere recuperar rápido su inversión ya que la cámara ya no trae Flash incluido lo cual es muy necesario considerando que no puedes subir mucho el ISO por el pésimo sensor que trae esta cámara y SI, PESIMO SENSOR, el ruido que produce de noche con ISO arriba de 1600 ya es poco manejable los colores de piel comienzan a distorsionarse y aun con Dennoise ya en ISO 3200 en adelante, hay partes de las imágenes que son tan ruidosas que nisiquiera la IA puede resolver y quedan como cortadas ( un ojo cuadrado de un lado o cosas así ) la cámara me gusta a pesar todo, sin embargo el sensor no es para nada sofisticado (no es BSI). Comparando mi RX100 III tomando las mismas fotos y exactamente la misma exposición e ISO, se puede notar que la mejoría es apenas y solo muy apenas un paso lo cual es inaceptable para una cámara que cuesta 4 y hasta 5 veces mas si se considera el lente nocturno que se tiene que comprar forzadamente como el Leica 15mm 1.7 con el que la usé, es verdad que con este lente mejoró muchísimo los colores y las fotos de noche, el ISO se puede mantener relativamente bajo, pero aun asi arriba de ISO 800 ya comienza a notarse el ruido y la falta de nitidez, considero no que vale lo que cuesta la cámara, creo que con un lente Pro F1.2 o F1.4 de Olympus quedaría muy bien y todos estos problemas disminuirían, sin embargo son lentes carísimos, de casi el valor de la propia cámara que ya de por si es muy cara para ser M4/3 de gama media y también son muy grandes, por lo que demerita el hecho que sea M4/3. Esta cámara debió de tener el sensor nuevo de la OM1 para que valiera la pena, aunque no fuera apilado, ya que se nota que ya es viejo el sensor que trae, pero no mas viejo que mi RX100 III y aun así los resultados son similares, utilizando Denoisse se puede decir que los resultados quedan idénticos, por lo que finalmente tuve que regresarla, es mucho mas grande y costosa y claro muchas funciones interesantes P E R O, es una cámara no ? pues su finalidad es obtener fotos y qué sentido tiene si no son técnicamente mejores que otra de 1/4 del precio. Ya que ni la ergonomía me ha gustado prefiero la RX100 que se puede meter en tu bolsa y traerla a donde sea con calidad casi idéntica. No estoy diciendo que la Sony sea mejor, pero por el precio… tal vez si. Si tienes una Sony RX100 y quieres subir de nivel, OM System no es lo que buscas, al menos que te compres la OM1 que evidentemente no es una cámara para ocio y el precio tampoco.
