Title: This16 GB Model is a very peppy phone with a great camera and so much more!. A very detailed review below…
Review: This review is for the 16GB Internal Memory G3 with 2GB of internal memory. At first, I bought the 8GB model and like it, then I decided to buy and try the 16GB and so glad that I did. This phone has truly surpassed my expectations! This Moto G 3rd Generation Phone is just the right size, not too large or too small! For you the reader, my goal here is to give you every day and practical uses regarding this phone.PROS:+ SOUND QUALITY FOR PHONE CALLS and MUSIC ETC – This phone has LOUD SOUND QUALITY in speaking and listening is EXCELLENT with no distortion, much better loudness than my old Samsung Grand Prime! Even on speaker phone, the sound is plenty loud for me to hear and others hear me just fine. (I have slight hearing loss so I have to have a LOUD phone and I am so glad that I bought this phone, just one of the many reasons why I am very pleased with this phone).**Also, the music plays plenty loud on the phone speaker.+ Tethering….Normally I do not tether but to find out if the Moto G 3Rd Gen tethers well, I tried this and YES it works using the Moto G 3rd Gen. Well, I wanted you to know that this phone does have Tethering abilities (USB or Bluetooth, Hotspot). It works flawlessly for me. However, since I have a small data plan…usually do not tether yet I tried to see if jt worked…it works great. I used the Bluetooth tethering and paired the Moto G with my Tab 3 8.0 (WiFi only tablet) FIRST. Then I Bluetooth tethered. Very fast. You will need to check with your carrier and be sure that it is OK to tether on your Data Plan. For me, I am on WiFi 95 percent of time and no need for Data, so I only tried tethering to test this phone in that regard.+ WiFi Connecting/Speed of WiFi – Very, very fast–in fact in the back of my home, I still get 4.5 bars of WiFi signal on this phone! This I tested using my home router and on the go at many hotspots with WiFi. . Other hotspots: No problems at all connecting and staying connected on these. And I found the speed still high at home with several devices connected to the router, no loss in speed. **Note that I had other phones before this one and for me, none gave me the quick connect and overall speed as this one!+ Internet & Webpage & Video Viewing – The Chrome browser does a great job, however, I use Maxthon Browser with great internet viewing results and it renders webpages quite fast for me.+ No lagging at all and no freezing, I have found this phone to very fast and responsive. This phone is a joy to use because of this!+ Internal Memory and Storage Space – This is a plus and a minus, however, as for internal storage space (after I finished adding my personal apps in internal storage and updating today to the large 177.3 MB update), I still have 2.99 GB left and I added lots of apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Hangouts, Skype, Amazon Music, Amazon Shopping, Walmart and a large Office program, but I DID NOT ADD any games as most games take up too much internal space.Internal Memory – To conserve my memory and add to my battery life, I downloaded the ES Task Manager (free) from the Playstore. It frees up my memory, and my battery is better and I am very pleased with the performance of this phone using this app.+ Screen Resolution – VERY CLEAR! The colors are vivid and the fonts, icons are very clear. Even though this is a 5 inch screen, when I view pages on the internet, the text is clear and pictures very clear and colorful! For me, I can read everything well without my reading glasses.+ Camera improvements/Performance (I am very impressed with this camera) – I had a Samsung Grand Prime with an 8mp camera and I took camera shots using both phones outside and inside. This Moto G’s camera produced much sharper and vivid pictures than my Samsung Grand Prime!+ 13MP Camera – This camera I love, and I found that my pictures came out clearer and better when I did this:- I DO NOT USE the AUTO setting, just the flash or no flash and my pictures come out better now. My outdoor pictures I do not take in bright, bright sunlight, I take in shade and my pictures come out better. **Notes regarding the camera: I found that if I leave my flash either on or off (and do not set to AUTO), the pictures have come out so much better now (clearer with better color etc). I took some outdoor shots and indoor shots after this and found that my pictures really looked nice! Since I updated today the OS, I now have Nighttime Abilities on this camera (new).+ Lollipop Pure Android Experience – Since this has close to pure Android with no overlays over it or bloat ware apps, just the essential apps installed, this is a leaner phone that uses much less memory and battery than the ones that have those overlays and are not straight Android! This means that Lollipop OS runs better and faster than I expected.**I have found NO LAGGING, NO FREEZING. For me, I have found this phone to be very peppy. Today, September 19, 2015, just received a stability update for Lollipop from Motorola. The update was large at 177.3MB.+ EXTERNAL SLOT FOR MICRO SD CARD – My 32GB SD card works great. However, just to test this phone, I first added my San Disk 64GB Micro card that I had placed music on. My Samsung Galaxy Tabs (and Galaxy Prime) read it, however, this phone would read it but the 64 GB card would not work in this phone. Note that I found that my 32GB SD card stores plenty of my music on this and photos etc and still have over 6 megs left!+ Data/WiFi Info – For me, I do not have LTE where I live but the data is VERY FAST, it opens webpages lightening fast! I do not use that much data as I have WiFi at home and find FREE WiFi in most places that I frequent as Coffee Shops, Hotels, Library, Airport and more…This very fast in WiFi at home or wherever I find Hot Spots. Also, when I have to turn on data in my car, the speed is very fast as well on this phone. I find it FASTER than my older Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime was!+ Office Program with the phone – Found it to be OK, but I went to the Playstore and installed WPS Office (which lets me edit, save, view in MS Office types and also view PDF files). There is also a MS Office App (free) in the Playstore.+ Music Player – This phone comes with Google Player installed and I like it OK. It does play music that is stored on my external SD card nicely and saves new Playlists OK (and Google Player also plays music from the Cloud). However, let me suggest RocketPlayer (free) from the Playstore. I like it because my music is on my external SD card and it plays it in playlists or from my folders etc. I have already created my playlists on it and the sound is superb!+ Home Videos – The stock video player is OK and plays MOST home videos, however, may I suggest QQ Player (Free App from Playstore and the ONLY one I recommend as it plays every home video I tried).+ Battery Life/and more…- Excellent and the best I have found yet! Since this phone does NOT come with lots of bloat ware and useless apps, this helps the memory to run better and the battery last longer! In fact, I have gotten a day and a half of battery use (I turn off WiFi when I am off the internet or email etc). However, I run my brightness at 100%. So on an average day, I get at least a full day with about 15 percent left (sometimes more) and then I charge it overnight. There have been some reports of people saying that this phone runs a bit warm/hot. Personally, my Moto phone runs about 85 degrees F to 97 degrees. It will go up to about 97 degrees when I take lots of pictures using my flash or if I download apps from Playstore, but it goes right down to about 85 degrees in no time. This is very normal because many of the newer phones these days with the larger and faster processors run warmer than older phones did in yesteryear with smaller processors.+ Bluetooth Speed and Performance – The Bluetooth paired quickly with several devices and copied files at a great rate of speed. This is the fasted Bluetooth connection that I have ever used, easy to connect to every device (phone or tablet) or speakers, headsets etc!+ OTG – The micro USB port on this phone is OTG (On the Go) compatible, this means that if you order a OTG Adapter Cable, then you can place a flash drive, USB Mouse and more into this phone. For me, I have been able to place my 32GB Flash drive in this adapter and easily copy files from this phone to my flash drive!+ Very, Very Peppy and fast – The added memory of the 2GB really makes a HUGE difference. Found the response on this phone to be very peppy and fast, no lagging!+ File Manager – I went to the Playstore and found Astro File Manager, it is easy to find my files on my SD External card and also on the phone. Liked it so much, I bought the AD FREE version!MY PERSONAL BOTTOM LINE: If you are trying to decide between the 8GB or the 16GB, I suggest that if all possible, you spend the extra 40 dollars and purchase the 16GB, plus 2 GB RAM. It is so worth every penny! After I install LOTS of apps. including Twitter, Facebook, Office and more, I still have about 10GB left for more apps if I want to install later on.BOTTOM LINE FOR YOU…Should YOU consider purchasing this phone at 16 or 8? 1) Yes the 16 I suggest, if you are looking for a easy to use and reasonably priced Android smartphone that has wonderful battery life, let me suggest this phone to you.2) Yes if plan on installing LOTS of apps. However, if are careful with the apps you install, then you may do OK with the 8GB however, after you install just a few apps, you will have 2 to 3 GB left or so and you will have to keep an eye on the apps…

Title: Performance is excellent, and waterproofing is a must have
Review: Never plug your phone into an untested charger that’s not made by the OEM. I learned the hard way when I plugged my phone into a newly bought charger (my wife bought it in an effort to get rid of the rat’s nest of wires on the charging desk — needless to say it’s the most expensive charger she’s ever bought — lesson: keep your rats nest and stick with well-reviewed chargers). Well, my Xperia Z1’s motherboard got fried, and I had to shop for a new phone in a hurry.I liked the Xperia Z1, so my initial thought was to just simply purchase an Xperia Z3. Alas, the price I got from Amazon did turn out to be too good to be true. Upon receiving the phone, I checked it against Sony’s website and discovered that the “new” phone I was sold only had 2 months of warranty left. In other words, some reseller had bought the phone from Sony or T-mobile, and was reselling it to me as “new.” The full price of the phone ($550) was more than I could stomach, so I went looking for other choices. My criteria were:Waterproof: having learned from the Xperia Z1 how useful a feature that was, I wasn’t willing to give this up.MicroSD card storage. Sorry, I’m not paying $100 to get an extra 16GB of storage. That’s for Apple users. (I paid $25 for a 64GB MicroSD card)2GB of RAM, preferably 3.5″ screen. More than that, and it’s too awkward to hold one-handed.Camera shutter button preferred.Cheap. Let’s face it, phone processor performance hasn’t improved in yearsNot surprisingly, other than the Xperia Z series, there are only a few phones that offer the first feature:Sony M4 Aqua ($250)Motorola Moto G ($220)Samsung Galaxy S5 ($400)The Samsung was too much to pay for, and I never liked the UI, so it came down to the Sony Aqua and the Moto G. I honestly did not expect the Moto G to be a contender, but since Lenovo acquired them from Google, Motorola has finally put microSD card storage even into its high end phones like the Moto X. Back when Google owned Motorola, it suffered from severe Apple envy and thought it could charge Apple-type prices for storage. The addition of waterproofing was a nice surprise. In fact, the higher-end phones in Motorola’s line up all only have water-resistance, rather than being IP7 waterproof. I would have considered the shatter-proof Droid Turbo 2 if it had included water-proofing along with the 4 year anti-crack warranty. As it was, I figured I could get 3 Moto Gs for the price of one of those, and waterproofing trumps crack-proofing.My experience with the Sony Z1 was that I was constantly getting applications killed. I’d play music and turn on navigation and music would die. I’ve also had the reverse happen. That made me wary of getting another Sony phone with just 2GB of RAM. (For whatever reason, this doesn’t happen to my wife’s Xperia Ultra Z, which at 6.5″ in size is so big that it also has wonderful voice and data reception!)Reviews consistently state that the Moto G has a better camera (surprising, since the Moto G’s camera is a Sony sensor). The Sony M4 Aqua also has a faster processor, NFC, supports up to 128GB of microSD storage and is thinner. Both phones are 720p 5″ displays, which is fine. What’s interesting is that the Moto G did support my 64GB SD card, despite not being officially in the specs. I did have to reformat it with the phone, but after that it worked just great. It’s unusual for companies to under promise and over-deliver, so I wonder what’s going on there. In practice, however, the Moto G actually appears faster than the M4 Aqua, even in the 1GB configuration! In the end, between the camera and improved performance, I went with the Moto G. Later research showed that the Snapdragon 615 used in the M4 Aqua has severe throttling issues due to overheating, so I unwittingly dodged a bullet.Since I was buying in a hurry to replace a dead phone, I ordered the black version from Amazon rather than going through Moto Maker. It’s also much easier to return something to Amazon than to Motorola, so that was a consideration. The phone itself is fast, as fast as the Xperia Z1. Installing software, starting up software all felt faster than the Z1 (undoubtedly helped by not having to push as many pixels), while task switching was surprisingly quick with no latency experienced. The camera was about as fast as the Z1’s, though obviously picture quality isn’t anywhere close to the benchmark set by that camera. The twist to shoot gesture is a nice gimmick, and I thought it to be useless but to my surprise after a few days with the phone I could shoot with the camera while cycling! Video is surprisingly good:By far the biggest issue with the phone is sluggish bluetooth pairing. In fact, for both my cars and the SBH52, I had to reboot the phone in order to do a pairing. Neither the Logitech X100 nor my vivoactive (which unfortunately needed a factory reset to unstick its pairing from the Z1) needed such a reboot. Once paired, the pairing sticks, so at least this is only a one time problem.Sound quality is, not surprisingly, lacking compared to the Z1, but not so much so that I found it objectionable. Some have reported annoying cross-talk when plugging in headphones into the microphone jack. I was prepared to have to do without (most of my listening is via blue-tooth over the SBH52 anyway), but when I plugged in headphones it sounded just fine.To my surprise, going from the Z1’s 1080p screen down to the 720p screen didn’t bother me at all. Of course, watching movies on the Z1 has always drained the battery so fast that I rarely did it, and in any case to save storage I’d always watched movies in 720p.Motorola is well known for providing a near-stock Android experience with no additional UI tweaks. I didn’t expect this to make a big difference to me, but it does and is a pleasant welcome after the Sony modifications to the OS. I also expect that this also contributed largely to the higher performance of the UI and software despite the supposedly slower processor. After my experience with the Z1, which begged to be recharged nearly all the time, so much so that I put the phone into stamina mode full time, any change had to be better. The Moto G was disappointing at first, barely lasting 12 hours without a charge. But 2 charge cycles later the battery life improved dramatically, with me typically ending the day somewhere around 40-50% of battery life. On a heavy use day it’d drop to 15%. This is a huge improvement over the Xperia Z1, and makes use of say, the Garmin Livetrack feature much more feasible than before. With the Xperia Z1, even with stamina mode, I was unlikely to make it to the end of the day without a mid-day recharge. Lithium ion batteries will generally lose 20% of their capacity after 300 recharge cycles. If your battery is barely able to get you through the day, after a year, your battery will absolutely not get you through the day. And yes, this applies even if you’re the type to keep it plugged in as often as possible. The relatively long battery life of the Moto G means that you can expect to get at least 2 years of use out of the phone before the non-replaceable battery starts to lose enough charge capacity to be annoying. All in all, given the price of the phone and the features (waterproofing is huge for me), the performance of the phone is such that I will be happy to hang on to it for a good long time. I expect that if you manage to buy this phone during the inevitable black friday sales, you’ll get it for a significant discount which will be an even better deal.Recommended.

Review: 2 months in and its working great. i have not fully tested the water resistance but it has survived a number of backcountry ski trips and sitting beside a hot spring for a few hours. this phone seems fast enough for basic webbrowsing, watching netflix, etc. I do not use my phone for any gaming (because I do not play any online games).this phone (the 2gb of RAM version) came with full original packaging and a bonus backing plate.

Review: I have had the motorola moto g 3rd gen for about 3 weeks now and i am happy with my purchase. I have a pay as you go plan with rogers, so i was not interested in getting an apple or samsung galaxy, for the extra cost. The phone came equipped with Android 6.0 , and 2 gb of ram. The moto g provides good reception for making and answering phone calls . I have free wi-fi at work , so i can easily check my emails on my phone and browse the web. The screen quality is very good for reading emails and text messages. If you are looking for a budget phone that is not expensive and you only need to make calls or text messages, than this is your phone.
