Title: Perfect for a youngster
Review: UPDATE: I just realized that this kit comes with only two ICs. Not a problem for me because I have a stock pile of old ICs I’ve had for years. If you are new to breadboarding, you will want to get a mix of ICs, starting with a 555 timer. Amazon has a great selection of IC Kits, so pick one within your budget and have fun! This is a great little kit. I’m retired now, but I made my living for many years as an Electronics Tech, so I thought it would be fun to “play around” a little. This kit has plenty of bits and pieces to spend many hours just playing around, but I find the components are small for my clumsy hands and fading vision. I made a couple of projects and plan to make a few more, but eventually I’ll have to pass it on to the younger generation. If you have a pre-teen or teen with an interest in this sort of thing, I happily recommend this kit.

Title: Nice assortment; liked everything (almost…)
Review: Overall a nice assortment of parts at a very reasonable price. The breadboard is ok, but like most of the ‘inexpensive from the East’ breadboards, it’s sockets tend to get ‘tired’ quickly. Namely if you plug a jumper into a hole on the breadboard, then try to replace it with something that has a smaller lead, you’ll find the hole is often now too expanded to grip the smaller lead. This is very noticeable with the resistors supplied with the kit, which have much smaller gauge leads than the jumpers (in least in my kit this is true). There are resistors with larger gauge size (smaller gauge number) that would be a much better choice (I have some from a C*n*kit and from other sources). It’s a bit hard to be very critical when the price is so reasonable, but still… So watch out when setting up circuits with components that are a bit loose in the breadboard – your circuit may be quite likely to have intermittent problems.

Title: Got this to spend time with my 9 year old
Review: Don’t get me wrong, I’ve bought breadboard kits like this for myself as an adult 😛 but these are neat for playing around with electronics with an interested child.

Title: Excellent value. Kit makes organizing very easy.
Review: I just started learning about simple circuits and decided to build some. I had gone through Amazon adding all the components and parts I needed. The total was over $40, so I was extremely pleased to find this $16 product with everything I needed and more. On top of that, it’s all packaged nicely. There’s a big box for everything, and small components inside are either bagged and labeled or in a small plastic box. The jumper wires are bound with a small zip tie and the male/female wires are stuck together at the sides and easily pull apart. I’ve built a few circuits so far and they’ve all worked perfectly. They only thing id suggest buying in addition to this is some battery holders or another power source and an autoranging multimeter. The power supply module included is nice as well, just look it up online to figure out what cord plugs into it. You’ll also have to look on the manufacturers website to find the voltage and amperage for the LEDs. I know the white LEDs are 3.2-3.4V and all LEDs are 20mA.

Title: “F” is for…Fun!
Review: This kit is pretty neat! I have never used a breadboard, nor built anything electronic. I took a leap of faith based on other reviews and bought this kit. Within a few minutes I had built my first couple projects.1. I connected a 9V battery to the breadboard using two of the stripped wires from the kit.2. Added 1 green LED with 330 ohm resistor.3. And connected this back to the breadboard with another stripped wire.4. Then I went back added one of the push button switches in front of the resistor.5. Fun!The included tackle box is very nice. The box has an attached plastic hanger so it could be stored on a on pegboard. Hinges are serviceable. They keep the box closed but they aren’t heavy duty. Box measures approximately 7 7/8″ X 5 3/8″ X 1 7/8″ (20 cm X 13.5 cm X 4.5 cm).Electronics For Dummies book not included.

Title: You are on your own.
Review: The online instruction sheets do not include how to use the power supply and are meant to be used with an Arduino. There are plenty of components for the price, and they seem to be high quality. However, you are left on your own to figure things out. They do have material data sheets which help dramatically.

Review: Really great starter kit, or extras. Provides lots of variety of components, all the major sizes of resistors and capacitors that you might need. All the components are decent quality and well organized. It would’ve been nice if there were better specs or model numbers included for some of the components, especially on the LEDs. From my testing, the LEDs measure out approximately as follows:Yellow = 10mA @ 2.1vRed = 20mA @ 2.3vBlue = 20mA @ 3.2vGreen = 20mA @ 3.5vWhite = 20mA @ 3.7vSince they are unmarked, I can’t confirm the values are exactly correct, and your LEDs may be different than mine so YMMV. Be careful of the Yellow LEDs they are much more sensitive to higher voltages/currents than the other colors. I burned out several of mine.
