Title: Sketchy Software Installation Required
Review: When the product description stated, “Built-in Driver for Windows” I assumed the best. I assumed incorrectly. When I popped the dongle into my computer, I saw the dongle was not plug and play. It requires software to run. There is no way I am running an EXE from some no-name company in China on my computer, and if you run EXEs from sketchy companies on your computer you will get what you deserve.There is absolutely no reason to require users to install software to run something as simple as a wifi dongle. There must be some other reason Hakimonoe wants people to install this necessary software. Stay away from this device and whatever nightmare software the company is trying to trick you into installing on your computer.This is partially my fault. If I had read the entire description, I would have figured out there was required software. In my defense, however, I know there is no reason to require software for a device like this. Why would a person even consider this as a possibility? I have purchased all sorts of dongles like this. The only other time I have seen required software like this was in a product from an infamous Chinese company who got banned from selling in the US due to national security concerns.This required software is a massive red flag waving in your face. Stay away.

Review: I have been using this for a while now and for the most part I haven’t experienced any issues with it at all. Wireless performance seems great. What I didn’t like was having to install the provided software (presumably drivers) onto my Windows 10 PC in order to get it working. I just don’t really trust things which force me to install software, especially if it’s from a brand which I’ve never really heard of. Another thing I’ve noticed is that when I join a Windows VPN it works fine, but when I disconnect from the VPN again I can run into trouble with web browsing etc for a short period of time before it starts working again. It doesn’t happen every time. I’ve heard some devices don’t like it when you join or leave a VPN for some reason, and this does seem to be one such device, but I guess it could be down to the provided software or even something to do with Windows and my current setup. Anyway, it’s really not too big an issue for me to deal with and I’m happy with it overall. It stays nice and cool when in use. It’s slightly wider than I would have liked and it fouls the USB port next to where it’s plugged in on my desktop PC, meaning I either lose that port or anything I do plug into it is pushed slightly sideways by the wireless adapter.
