In the New York Times bestselling sequel to One Dark Window, Elspeth must confront the weight of her actions as she and Ravyn embark on a perilous quest to save the kingdom—perfect for readers of Hannah Whitten’s For the Wolf and Alexis Henderson’s The Year of the Witching.
Gripped by a tyrant king and in the thrall of dark magic, the kingdom is in peril. Elspeth and Ravyn have gathered most of the twelve Providence Cards, but the last—and most important—one remains to be found: the Twin Alders. If they’re going to find the card before Solstice and set free the kingdom, they will need to journey through the dangerous mist-cloaked forest. The only one who can lead them through is the monster that shares Elspeth’s head: the Nightmare.
And he’s not eager to share any longer.

Title: Phenomenal End to the Duology!
Review: I hardly ever like a second book better than the first, but this was phenomenal! In One Dark Window, I expressed how I felt like I personally wanted a little more spice to add. I didn’t feel it lacking for this book, even though it was still very PG. Elm is a top tier book boyfriend and I like him even more than Ravyn. This world building was so immersive and still held up for the duration of the duology, even with the new locations. And the storytelling where we learn more about the Nightmare and what led him to that path was creative genius!I loved this story and am certain I’ll be chasing this high for a while!

Title: Twisted? Maybe. Satisfying? Yes.
Review: Finished it because I had to, not because I was obsessed. Like when you start a show and it’s fine, but you’ve come too far to quit now. That was me-committed & slightly annoyed.BUT–The ending did fit the story. It wrapped things up in a way that made sense and gave closure, even if it didn’t blow my mind. Definitely worth it to complete the duology.

Title: More please!
Review: LOVED this book and the characters!!! This duo has the kind of story you just keep imagining as a movie… It has SO much potential! (Hello, Hollywood?!!)I loved the spooky undertones and all of the riddles and rhymes.. The characters all were interwoven in such a great way.Im not a crier- but the ending had me shedding tears!!!!Not a lot of spice- Id give it 1 🌶️ .. But the love stories were heart wrenching!I would absolutely love someone to come up with the deck of cards for customers to purchase! Honestly, honestly, I’m surprised that no companies have yet!Looking forward to her upcoming book this summer! Pre-order if you haven’t!

Title: The perfect conclusion
Review: The perfect conclusion to this magical mystical world. The love stories throughout the journey only got better. I can’t imagine a more perfect way for this book to conclude. Who would have ever thought the reader would come to love the nightmare but, is there any other outcome really? The creativity of the world and it’s story arc is amazingly entrancing. This is truly a 5 star read that I’m looking forward to reading over and over again!

Title: This is the perfect sequel.
Review: Two Twisted Crowns is a dark atmospheric sequel that stays full of tension, action, and magic. Two Twisted Crowns is tense and visceral. It’s everything you want in a sequel and ending. In Two Twisted Crowns The Nightmare, inhabiting Elspeths body, journeys through the woods in search of the Twin Alders card in an effort to unite the deck. While Ravyn and Jespyr accompany him Elm and Ione are left behind to pursue Iones missing maiden card and deal with Hauth.I was completely riveted by this book. There wasn’t a thing about it I would change. Characters are intriguing and multi-faceted, I was on the edge of my seat for it all: the romance, the action, the violence, the characters, and the story itself. The dialogue between Taxus and Elspeth add a lot to this book and make for interesting and memorable exchanges. Taxus and Elspeth have a fascinating father-daughter relationship that you’ll feel fully invested. I also felt very keen to see how the relationship with Elm and Ione would develop, especially in a castle fraught with peril. If you enjoyed the first one you will absolutely love this sequel. It does not disappoint.

Review: Superb fantasy! Book two in the duology. The friends are still trying to find that last magic card but it is hidden in the mist. To get it Elspeth must fight the darkness and Ravyn must find out who he really is. Meanwhile Elm is fighting for his love, and the kingdom.Great book, exciting from first to last page.

Review: Enchanting, Haunting, and Utterly UnforgettableRachel Gillig delivers a stunning conclusion to the Shepherd King duology with a story with shadowed magic and aching romance. This sequel not only lives up to the dark beauty of One Dark Window, but expands it into something even richerSet once again in the eerie, mist-drenched kingdom of Blunder, Gillig crafts a world steeped in lore and danger. The atmospheric writing pulls you in like the mist itself – clever plotting wrap around you until you’re fully immersed. One of the most compelling magic systems in fantasy today.Elspeth and Ravyn’s journey is as complex as ever—wrought with sacrifice, longing, and a desperate fight for a future they may never see. Their relationship deepens in surprising ways, with every choice they make with consequence and passion.Meanwhile, side characters like Elm and Ione get powerful moments that enrich the emotional landscape of the story.I need more Rachel Gillig in my life ASAP
