Customers say
Customers find this satirical novella a quick, intriguing read with a surprising twist at the end. They appreciate the humor, with one customer noting it reads like the movie Airplane, and many enjoying the references to the author’s other works. The pacing keeps readers hooked, and the writing style is true to the author’s style. A quick rundown of this product’s key features:
My husband is dead.
I attended his funeral. I watched his casket be lowered six feet into the ground. (Actually, it may have been only five feet, but that still seems like more than enough.) And then we ate an array of finger sandwiches and deviled eggs and miniature beef wellingtons that cost more than my first car.
My point is, Grant is gone. And so are all his many, many deep, dark secrets which I never really ever bothered to ask him about. He is never coming back.
So why do I still see his face everywhere I go?
The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie is an utterly addictive, unputdownable, nail-biting, absolutely gripping psychological thriller novella with a shocking, breathtaking, heartstopping, spine-chilling twist that you won’t see coming, will leave you stunned, and will literally have you picking your jaw up off the floor and bringing it to the nearest hospital for major facial reconstructive surgery.

Title: Loved It!
Review: The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie is everything you want in a psychological thriller — sharp, witty, darkly funny, and full of jaw-dropping twists. Just when you think you’ve figured it out… you haven’t.The voice is classic McFadden: snarky, smart, and deliciously unreliable. From the very first line, I was hooked — and by the end, I was reeling. This novella may be short, but it’s packed with tension, secrets, and that signature Freida twist that punches you right in the gut.If you love thrillers that make you gasp out loud, question everyone and everything, and flip back pages to see what clues you missed — don’t skip this one. Absolutely unputdownable.

Title: I liked it.
Review: I have got to say that this is the first Freida McFadden book that I did not love. Eh, I will go with like. I like some things, other things not so much. It was a quick read as it is only a novella, with a few twists and turns but I hung in for satire. Not sure it would be a Freida book I would recommend, but I need to read all the Freida books there are… so there ya have it!

Title: Ridiculous in a Good Way
Review: This was absurd but in a fun way! If you’re not a fan of thrillers and like to make fun of them- this is for you. If you’re a fan of thrillers and want to have some fun – this is for you. If you like words on a page – this is for you!Honestly, this reminded me of a soap opera. Some of it was a little too ridiculous for me – but I found myself smiling and chuckling as I read through it. It was fast, fast paced, and quite a bit silly. I think this might be the perfect get over a reading slump book!

Title: Meh…
Review: Freida McFadden’s The Widow’s Husband’s Secret Lie promises an outrageous blend of satire and psychological thriller, with a plot so twisty it should leave readers gasping. But while the premise is intriguing—grieving widow sees her supposedly dead husband everywhere—the execution falls flat.Though marketed as a darkly comedic take on the genre, the humor didn’t quite land for me. The absurdity of the twists and over-the-top narration seemed to be reaching for a level of satire that never fully connected. As the story progressed, my interest waned rather than intensified. Perhaps it requires a certain mood or sense of humor to appreciate, but despite my love for satire, this one didn’t hit the mark.Even with its short length, it took me a week to get through the audiobook—never a good sign for a so-called “unputdownable” read. If you’re a fan of McFadden’s style and enjoy exaggerated satire, it might work for you, but for me, it was more of a meh than a must-read.

Title: Very Funny Quick Read
Review: This was a very funny novella I was actually laughing out loud. Freida’s regular novels always show glimpses of her humor but she really leaned into it for this book. A lot of satire, still a few plot twists. Well done Freida.

Title: satire!
Review: This book is unlike any other that I have read of Freida’s so far. It is definitely a satire and not her typical read. I enjoyed the parts that had me chuckling and the parts that had me rolling my eyes. It’s a good and fun read but if you are looking for a serious Freida book, this one is not for you.

Title: This was a fun, quick read
Review: This was a fun, quick read. There were lots of laugh out loud moments, as well as many times where I had to roll my eyes. Despite its short length, this book has a decent plot and had me questioning things throughout. The main character was a little ridiculous at times, but I think that only added to the humorous aspects of the story. She confused obvious things on more than one occasion which often had me thinking she wasn’t super bright.Did I love this book, no. Was I highly entertained while reading it, yes. If you are looking for a non serious, quick and twisty mystery/thriller read this one.

Review: This little novella didn’t cut it for me. The identical twin and identity mixup didn’t grab me the way her novels do. It was kind of a simple premise, and not believable, but what the heck. And then the triplet at the end, just too convoluted, but it was a satirical novella so maybe that’s what it’s all about. I love all her novels, but this novella missed the mark for me.
