Title: Fun! But maybe no more than two players
Review: I picked this up after playing a first game in a boardgame Cafe. I loved the campaign idea in a game that is replayable; unlike the various legacy games which are basically only one playthrough. The game starts off fairly simple, and plays quickly, maybe 30 minutes. This was perfect for playing during a lunch break. It took us (2 players) 16 games to unlock everything, and our games at the end took up almost the entire hour, which ended up working great. I recommend this game for solo play, or two players; i think more than that might make decision making difficult if there are any min/max or power gaming personality types involved.

Title: Great great for partners, family, it other group!
Review: Great team game with replayability! The art style is beautiful and well designed. If you love patterns and open ended puzzles, this is wonderful game for you. You can keep it simple and Zen, or you can try to optimize and make it more complex as you expand your village terrain.

Title: Very Addictive!
Review: I did not think I would like this game as much as I do, but I keep coming back to it. Setup is easy, and I can play it during my lunch period. It’s a nice mental break from teaching all morning.

Title: A good puzzle game
Review: Heavier games are usually our habit. Had to try this, and we really enjoy it. When we want to relax and not tax our brains too much, this is a good game. My MIL who has never played a game with us over the years even played 2 games in a row. It like a group activity with challenges. Great for a group of gamers and non-gamers♟️

Title: Fun co-operative tile laying puzzle game
Review: Work together to build out a land to specific requirements. As you progress, you get to unlock more stuff (will not discuss unlocks because of spoilers). Always love campaign/legacy aspects to games. Super easy to learn and pickup. Plays very quick as each turn is a pick a tile, play a tile.If you like co-ops and enjoy games like Carcassonne, Kingdomino, and Karuba, then definitely buy this one for your collection! It is also the winner of the 2023 Spiel des Jahres (Game of the Year) award!

Title: Complex but easy to play game
Review: This game has some complexity to it, but do not let it dissuade you from playing it. It eases you into its complexities very gently and is really enjoyable. My wife and I will throw on some lofi and play a few rounds to destress and talk. Love this game!

Review: Dorf Romantik: The Board Game—Where Pastoral Dreams Meet Strategic BloodlustWho knew a sweet little game about building cute villages, winding railways, and peaceful rivers could transform you into a raging lunatic with a vendetta against a six-year-old? That’s Dorf Romantik for you—a game so diabolically simple, yet devastatingly competitive, it’ll have you questioning why you ever thought you were smarter than your own grandchildren. Spoiler alert: you’re not. It’s a high-stakes gladiatorial arena where the strongest survive, the weak cry into their tea, and six-year-olds reign supreme. That’s Dorf Romantik for you: a game so simple in theory, yet so unforgivingly competitive, it’ll leave you clutching the table, screeching, “HOW IS HE BEATING ME AGAIN?!”The concept? Draw a tile, place it, and try to make everything connect beautifully—fields to fields, houses to houses, railways to railways —blah, blah, blah. Sounds soothing. Easy, right? WRONG. This game isn’t about making a pretty countryside. This game doesn’t care about your zen vibes. It cares about destruction. Your destruction. You’ll overthink every move, underthink the important ones, and ultimately question why you thought you could outwit a child armed with crayons. It’s about survival. You’re playing against the clock, the tiles, your own poor decision-making, and, if you’re like me, a small child whose high scores will haunt you long after bedtime. And oh, the high scores. Oh, the holy bloody grail of Dorf Romantik. Whether you’re playing solo, as a team, or in a competitive “I’m-better-than-you-and-I’ll-prove-it” frenzy, the allure of beating the record is unbearable. As a cooperative game, it becomes a war room meeting—arguments over whether to sacrifice the perfect wheat field to extend a measly forest can end friendships. Forget teamwork; it’s one passive-aggressive debate after another. “Are you seriously putting that there? Are you TRYING to sabotage us?!” Competitive play? Let’s just say I’ve seen grown adults cry because a single misplaced tile ruined their chance at leaderboard glory. The thrill is real. The stakes are apocalyptic. Every time you draw a tile, it’s like unwrapping a present you didn’t want. Will you extend your forest you’ve nurtured for the last 20-minutes, for the big payoff later, or will you blow it all on a measly quick win? Can you complete that railway, or will it mock you forever as a useless dead end? Good luck, because here’s a random chunk of river to ruin your day. Every tile reveal is an adrenaline rush. Every placement feels like defusing a bomb. And don’t even get me started on those flag tiles—they’re like golden tickets that you’ll inevitably mismanage because you’re too busy panicking. They’re practically begging you to botch their placement. Every move feels like trying to land a 747 on a postage stamp while blindfolded, and your opponents (or worse, teammates) are yelling contradictory advice in your ear.Oh, and the space this game takes up? Let’s not forget the sheer logistical madness. This game eats table space like a starved wolf. My dining room looks like a cartographer had a meltdown, and I’m one misplaced tile away from spilling over onto the sofa. But do I care? No. I am obsessed. Ridiculous. My dining table is now a shrine to my failures, sprawling with half-finished landscapes and missed opportunities. But do I regret it? Not for a second. I don’t need wine or whisky to survive the holidays anymore. I need one more game to prove that I can finally, FINALLY beat my smug little grandson. This isn’t just a game—it’s a personal vendetta. I will reclaim my dignity. I will crush my grandson’s high score if it’s the last thing I do.So, do yourself a favour: buy Dorf Romantik. But don’t say I didn’t warn you-and don’t come crying to me when you’ve been humbled by a child or driven to near-violence by a misplaced railway. It’s a lovely, brutal, evil, addictive masterpiece that will ruin your self-esteem and steal your soul—all while looking gorgeous. And whether you play alone, collaborate, or ruthlessly compete, the game will leave you obsessed with proving your worth, one tile at a time. It will ruin your life, and you’ll love every, agonising, glorious second of it.
