Title: Great hardware with lots of potential, limited by the app
Review: UPDATE 7/28/2021 -The company has contacted me by email with solutions to some of the problems I mentioned below. My concern with the camera only detecting human motion was caused by a misunderstanding of the settings. Turning off the “human” motion detection did not disable all motion detection as I assumed it would, but rather it actually made it to where motion of all kinds triggers the camera which is what I needed.They suggested resetting the camera to try to improve the connectivity, but I haven’t done that yet as it’s not in a convenient location – I’ve just accepted that in order to connect and view the video from this camera requires a super fast connection. When I am on wifi I don’t have the issue as badly as I used to; most of the time, I’m able to connect to the camera and view the videos the first try. It is still pretty difficult to get a good connection when I am on cellular 3g/4g connections, but we live in an area where cell service tends not to be the latest and greatest, so that probably isn’t the camera’s fault.I’m upgrading this review from 3 stars to 5. I’m glad that they reached out and offered resolutions and are paying attention to the customer feedback here. I have bought and installed a second camera and I’m pleased on both of them that the solar system seems to be able to keep the batteries fully charged.I still wish it were possible to record for more than 30 seconds. I really would like to have the option of recording for at least 5 minutes after a motion trigger. Even if it kills the battery, if someone drives up in the yard and is messing around or trying to break in, I want to see as much of their activity as possible without being interrupted by the camera stopping and then having to re-detect motion and start recording again repeatedly. I almost made this a 4-star instead of a 5-star review due to this. But, I knew from other reviews and from the Amazon listing that this was how the camera worked before I bought it, so it’s not the product’s fault and not really fair to downrate for that.ORIGINAL REVIEW -Good things first… the value for money is good on this in spite of a few limitations; the hardware itself seems well-built and the solar power solution is working perfectly. Battery life has been flawless so far and I have the unit set to record as long as and often as possible, so I’m very happy with that and with not having to run wires through the attic. My number one reason for wanting the camera was to be able to see certain areas of the property while we are away from home to ensure all is well, on-demand, and I can do that most of the time, so it’s accomplishing its mission.There are two large drawbacks leading to my rating, however. First, the motion detection doesn’t seem to recognize vehicles as triggers, only human outlines. In my situation, on a private driveway not in sight of a public road, it really ought to recognize a moving car as suspicious and start recording whether a person gets out and is seen or not. I’m hoping this is something maybe a firmware upgrade or app upgrade in the future might improve; it’s probably not endemic to the hardware.The second largest problem for me is that the app fails to display the camera output about 75% of the time but instead shows a percentage counter which times out after the spinning wheel goes around 25 times and tells me the connection failed. This happens on good, strong wifi connections as well as 3G/4G but is noticeably worse on cellular… which means, when I’m away from home wanting to check in on the camera at home, it fails to connect six or seven times before it actually lets me view an image, which is very frustrating. The same thing happens when I try to review the saved videos and again, this happens even when I am strongly connected to the same wifi network as the camera itself, not just when I am on the road using phone data. The app needs to be more accepting of low-bandwidth connections in order to make using this a little less frustrating overall.A smaller annoyance is that 30 seconds is the longest video that can be captured. I’d like to have the option (even understanding that it will compromise battery life severely) to record for 5-10 minutes after a trigger to ensure that I do not miss anything that is happening if we do actually have a problem with an intruder.Overall I’m still glad I have the camera and I actually bought a second unit to cover another area of the property, so I’m not completely dissatisfied, but I’d be a lot happier if the above shortcomings were addressed in future updates since they are programming issues moreso than hardware limitations.

Title: Very good camera
Review: It’s a very sharp camera, and the best part is that it uses solar power to charge . Customer service is very professional and responds within 24 hours. The cloud service isn’t very good, but you can use an SD card to continuously record everything for 30 days for free . It’s a very efficient security camera.At night, if it’s dark and it detects a person, car or animal, a light turns on and it records as if it were daytime, with great clarity. You can activate an audible alarm that can be heard from afar and scares off any intruder.

Title: Surprisingly good for the money, with a few minor gotchas.
Review: I’ve long been looking for a wifi security camera that won’t stream to some site on the cloud. This camera *can* do that, but you can manage it yourself instead if you would prefer.I used this to check on the bunny that used to live under the shed. Turned out the bunny I had been feeding carrots to was gone, and now they were being eaten by house mice. Stuck it out there for about a week, it worked well even on cold wet nights.Pros:- Doesn’t require sending your video to some company in the cloud.- Night vision mode works pretty well at short ranges up to several feet.- Microphone isn’t the best, but works.- Has a speaker so you can use it for “intercom” mode. Not the best speaker, but it’s clear and loud enough to hear.- Motion detection can record short snippets of video, up to 30 secs.- Saves to microSD card in standard MP4 format.- VERY low power use. After 3 days use plugged into a USB power pack, the pack still showed “full” charge (ie not much used).- Encrypted video. Since it’s not open source as far as I can tell, there’s no way to tell if the encryption is any good, but any is better than broadcasting in the clear.- Pretty good resolution. Personally, I doubt the sensor itself really is 1080P, it’s likely upscaled to that, but the video is still pretty high res, even in infra-red. Zooming into the video when monitoring it on my phone does reveal extra info, rather than just blurring it.- Seems decently weatherproofed, with all buttons and sockets covered with rubber.- Comes with mounting kits for the camera and the solar panel, and cables for powering it both from either the solar panel, or a USB source.- Seems to have an internal battery, so can work even while there’s no light on the solar panels.- Setup took several minutes, but was straightforward and had clear instructions.Cons:- Doesn’t allow password protection of the camera, so the encryption is only as good as the key which is likely stored in the app.- Requires an Android/iPhone phone app to view the camera in real-time. No PC/Mac client.- Can’t save a constant stream. It only saves snippets from the motion sensor.- Can’t stream to the web like a web-cam (this might be a feature of their paid subscription, I don’t know).- Unless you pay for an ongoing subscription to their cloud storage, you can’t download or share the motion-sensor videos without turning the camera off, removing the microSD card, putting it into a card reader, copying them off, returning the card to the camera, and turning it back on. But the from what I’ve read on the internet, the camera apparently CAN do this, and USED TO, until they released a software update to the app to prevent it. Kinda sleazy practice, if true.- If your WiFi drops while watching the stream on your phone, then you have to reconnect.- As others have said, be careful when inserting the microSD card, as you can end up shoving it in the gap between the socket and casing, instead of into the socket.Overall, this camera is considerably better than I expected. It would be perfect, if the software were available for PC and not deliberately crippled to be unable to download.

Review: Ich betreibe die Kamera im Hinterhof ohne zusätzliche Beleuchtung. Die Kamera hat dennoch eine super Ausleuchtung bei sehr guter Auflösung.Die Nachtsicht funktioniert ebenfalls tadellos. Eine 32GB SD Karte dient mir als Speicher, aber es steht such eine Cloud zur Verfügung. Diese ist jedoch nur 7 Tage kostenlos. Bei mir reicht die Kapazität meiner Speicherkarte für mehrere Wochen. Gesteuert wird die Kamera per App. Die App ist stabil und die Verbindung zur Kamera weltweit live möglich. Einstellungen sind unzählige vorhanden. Interessant sind vor allem Alarmfunktionen, Sirene und die Einstellung der Erkennungsmöglichkeiten (Ausblenden bestimmter Bereiche). Das Licht lässt sich zudem auf die Umgebung anpassen. Die Halterungen sind ausreichend stabil für die Kamera und Solarmodul, die Installation selbsterklärend. Der Akku hält auch an mehreren trüben Wintertagen problemlos durch. Besonders gut finde ich die Auflösung der Kamera bei Tag und auch Nacht. Personen sind super zu identifizieren. Alles im einen kann ich die Kamera nur empfehlen.

Review: This is the second ieGeek camera I purchased for use with my Blue Iris server.This unit is physically well built, with a bright dual LED floodlight, and a solid mounting bracket. The camera comes with a 3-pin plug attached which you can use to configure the camera before mounting.While the instructions suggested that you should then disconnect this unit from the 3-pin plug and you should then wire the camera nto the mains directly, I use a junction box to connect the camera to an extension cable within a junction box which I then reconnected to the 3-pin plug. This all worked well.The camera is setup via the CloudEdge app, which works well. It’s another different app to the CamHi app that other ieGeek cameras use.Blue Iris could not automatically identify this camera, and there is no HTTP access to it.I couldn’t find the correct ONVIF setup for this camera to work in Blue Iris, it isn’t listed in the instructions, and ieGeek support couldn’t help me – but I eventually used an app called ONVIF DEVICE MANAGER (SourceForge) to discover the camera has ports at:-RTSP: 8554ONVIF: 8000/Streaming/Channels/101I can confirm that once you have these details, the camera works really well in Blue Iris.Be aware that this camera is difficult to find on the ieGeek website (the box lists it as a ieGeek Flight 4T but it is not called this in the manual) but if you’re using it solely within the CloudEdge app, this isn’t a problem.A great camera for the price, and the addition of floodlights and a siren is appreciated.A shame about the poor documentation, but if you can navigate your way around this, then you’re good to go!
