Title: While one day I hope to have the space to retrieve the chess table my dad handmade (Yep he loved the game that much) too
Review: Wanted to teach my son how to play chess and even though I had the chess pieces (that my dad acquired while stationed in Thailand during the early 70’s) I was lacking a board. Knowing that I had to find a suitable board to go with the 40+ year old pieces, I fired up the web browser and came to Amazon. After 15-20 minutes of looking at the different choices I came across this board, and hey it was even made by a company where the owner’s last name was almost the same as mine. (Coincidence or fate?) When the board arrived and I opened the box I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. The board is well crafted, very solid and has a smooth natural finish. Yes it’s made in China but if not for the little sticker on the back, you might never realize it. While one day I hope to have the space to retrieve the chess table my dad handmade (Yep he loved the game that much) too, this board is perfect for filling the void! And yes, I taught my son how to play and he enjoys the game immensely and is becoming quite good at it… so good in fact that I think his grandfather would be proud!

Title: Solid wood chess board
Review: My wife bought me a good set of wooden chess pieces for my birthday and I wanted amatching chess board. I bought this because I liked its color, price and size.The quality is far better than I expected. It’s made of solid wood with inlaid squares. The surface is almost perfectly smooth. It looks pretty sturdy and durable. Although the price is cheap, it doesn’t look cheap at all. I highly recommend it.

Title: Beautiful
Review: Love this. I bought it as a gift and it was so pretty. It is good quaily wood and has a great finish. The color contrast is great yet no so jarring as a traditional black and white board. It makes a great board to play on and a great board to display your favortie chess set on.

Review: I was looking for a decent quality chess board to go with the wooden chess pieces that I have had for years (see uploaded photo). I am very pleased with this board. Elegant looking and good quality. Very reasonably priced compared with other wood boards I have seen.

Title: The one I got is nice, and looks good
Review: This board is probably just veneer, as some others have said. The one I got is nice, and looks good, even on the corners. Pairs well with a wooden set with 3.75 king, although ‘they’ usually recommend a slightly larger board for pieces of that size. It gives a nice solid thud moving weighted wooden pieces. One of the felt pads underneath is missing, but totally playable. I think it is worth the price.
