Title: Great Features, Value and Build Quality
Review: As a one-man shop handling everything, efficiency and smart tech are key. So, when it came to checking out the FeiyuTech Official SCORP 2 Kit, a 3-axis gimbal stabilizer, I was looking for something that could actually help me level up the photography/videography arm of my business without adding a ton of complexity.AI Tracking is a Major AdvantageThis is hands-down the most impactful feature. As a solo operator, having that built-in AI tracking module with gesture control (the “OK” gesture to start tracking is awesome!) is a huge win. No fiddling with apps mid-shot, no needing a second person. It just works, and that alone makes it incredibly useful for self-filming content. This is where it really shines for someone like me.Solid Value PropositionComing from a perspective of investing smartly, the SCORP 2 Kit feels like a strong contender against pricier options. You get a lot of features—good stabilization, that AI tracking, and a decent build—without breaking the bank. It feels like a solid return on investment for enhancing my video capabilities.Ergonomics and Quick SetupThe T-shaped handle for low shots and the overall design are pretty intuitive. It feels good in the hand, and the L-shaped quick-release plate is genuinely fast for switching between horizontal and vertical orientations, which is essential for varied content platforms. The built-in kickstand is a nice touch for quick breaks or setup.Smooth Footage, MostlyFor most of my mirrorless setups, it delivers really smooth, professional-looking footage. The stabilization itself is excellent, which is the core function of a gimbal, and it nails that.Payload & Balancing ConsiderationsThis is where you need to pay attention. While it’s rated for 5.51 lbs, my experience suggests it’s best suited for smaller mirrorless bodies and standard lenses. If you’ve got a larger body or a particularly long lens, you might run into clearance issues where the camera hits the gimbal arms, especially if you’re trying to do underslung shots or move through the full range of motion. Balancing it can also take a bit of patience, but this is all typical for gimbals.Overall, if you’re a solo creator looking for an affordable, feature-rich gimbal, especially if you value excellent AI tracking for self-shooting, the FeiyuTech SCORP 2 Kit is definitely worth a look. Just be mindful of your camera and lens combination if you’re on the heavier end of its stated capacity. As an exclusive contributor to a prominent stock media agency with 25 years of experience in freelance photography and videography, I offer informed and professional opinions of camera and video equipment.I will update this review if anything changes within 1 year. A 5-star rating indicates the product meets my expectations for its purpose.

Title: Excellent Gimbal!
Review: I’ll begin with a moment of full disclosure. I already owned the FeiyuTech Scorp 2 Mini when I picked up its full sized brother. Therefore, some of my thoughts may be influenced by my previous experience. Also, since I was already familiar with the capabilities, I believe I did not fall prey to some of the issues others have reported. That said…I found the full sized Scorp 2 to be a very capable gimbal. First of all, I’m using a Sony 6700 along with a series of prime and some zoom lenses, but certainly nothing that would tax the capabilities of this particular model. In fact, I had some difficulty balancing some larger lenses on the mini that I suspect would be child’s play on this one. For one thing, the camera mount is much longer, giving you the ability to move the camera back further on the front to back axis and get a better center of balance. All of that to conclude that balancing my camera, even with my largest lense (a Sony 18-135) was easy as could be. In fact, I was convinced that the gimbal actually laughed at me when I was fine tuning the balance. As for the steadiness of the gimbal, again, with such a light load, there was no shake, no issues whatsoever. Add that to the fact that I understood the various modes and what they did, means that I had no issues shooting with this full sized model. Very good stability all around. As stated, I’m running a crop sensor rig, but I believe without fear of being wrong that you could run a full sized model with a reasonable lens attached and still not completely tax this gimbal. Now…of course if you go and exceed the weight restrictions, then you are going to burn out your motor and get lousy videos.I absolutely enjoyed the subject tracking that is included. I’ll not call it AI because, well, that’s not what AI means. At least not to me. With a series of hand gestures, you can make this gimbal follow you so that you get some good shots of yourself without needing an additional person to take them for you. I liked it aIot…my only issue was I still could not figure out how to attach the camera shutter to the gimbal to cause the camera to take a picture based on a hand signal. I still had to use my phone. My one drawback is sort of a “no-brainer” but it bears mentioning. This is indeed a full sized gimbal. If running and gunning is your style, the Scorp 2 is going to slow you down a bit. It’s heavy. And it’s big. But then again, that’s why they made the Mini.Overall, not a single thing to complain about. It did what it was supposed to do for my application and, I believe, would go far and above the uses I put it to.5 stars, easy.

Title: Won’t stop vibrating
Review: First, presentation is nice, however, I have another gimbal from Hohem that came with an actual carrying case which is way nicer than a box with a handle.Second, FeiyuTech support is very pleasant to deal with but very slow and ultimately was unable to help me with my problem. I would email them at midnight and they would reply 23 hours later which happened 3 times in a row. They were unable to offer a real solution.Third, the Scorp 2 will not stop vibrating. I have it perfectly balanced as verified by both the app and by support who I sent a video of proof. The tilt motor won’t stop vibrating and it would transmit what sounds like an A/C line hum into the camera’s audio.Fourth, the replacement Scorp 2 was 50x worse. When I put it on the ground, it feels like sitting in an old car with an unbalanced 4 cylinder engine, idling at too low of an RPM, with 3 broken motor mounts.Besides being completely problematic, the battery does not last all that long and also tends to heat up, probably both related to the vibration. The 2nd Scorp 2 lasted maybe 2 minutes and turned off. The 1st Scorp 2 lasted probably around 15 minutes from a full charge.Real shame, I really wanted to like the Scorp 2. I’ll be sticking to my Hohem MT2. Not nearly the same weight class but at least the Hohem MT2 works.Unrelated, but the 2nd Scorp 2 had the GUI on Chinese by default. The first one was English.

Review: Had an issue with this gimbal from day 1. Really would not give me stable shooting of video – it was all over the place. Then there was a vibration each time the camera/gimbal moved. So overall it was worse than a normal tripod. So asked service support they told me to balance the camera DERRR? exactly what i was doing as per instructions!!!! then they just didn’t respond to my emails when I told them this was not working. Sent them videos of the problem – no response. Told them I would accept a refund or a replacement – no response. I am so lucky I bought through Amazon as the returns process and refund was smooth. So I don’t know if the product is oversold in its stability or I had a Friday afternoon unit. Whatever the service support is TERRIBLE. I will look at the more expensive option of gold standard DJI. BUT will want to see it in operation first – or order through Amazon

Review: Broke within a year. Completely unreliable, always difficult to balance, software would bug out with Sony cameras, bought a separate focus motor on another site and it just locked up. The locking points have slack in them and the portrait mode simply stopped working. The tolerance on the mounting screws was awful when using the plates so camera would drift after a short time.Do not buy.

Review: “Avoid this gimbal — it’s the worst one I’ve ever bought. It is not stable at all and loses tracking easily. I would not recommend it.”
