Title: Good gardening in pots with succulents book!
Review: This is an excellent book on showcasing succulents. The photography alone is worth the price of the book. I understand the author takes the photos herself. Having said that, this isn’t a how to book; it’s more about setting up gardens, primarily in pots but also has some emphasis on outdoor gardens. There is a section on care and lists in the back of which succulents need sun or will survive in less light, etc.Ms. Baldwin has written many books on succulents and I’m hard pressed to decide which to buy next. I found one here at Amazon a couple day ago by her that is more about care of succulents so perhaps I’ll get it next. I understand her fascination with succulents as they come in so many different shapes, sizes and even some colors such as blue. Many will bloom. They are not water hogs so they will mind their own business if one travels for a week and leaves them to their own devices. Overwatering is the worst thing one can do to a succulent or cactus. Great book.

Title: Great resource!
Review: Would’ve given it 5 stars, but the cover of the book was beat up looking for being brand new, it’s flimsy and not a good type of cover for a “gardening” book, that you will use as a frequent resource and move around alot. I have not even gotten thru the whole book and moved it to different places in my house to read it and learn, not good, might remove it altogether, maybe stick it inside of the cover instead!

Title: Best of all cacti-succulents garden books
Review: I have many Cacti-succulents books. but the finest yet is Debera lee Baldwin’s book, Succulent Container Gardens. Her design With Succulents is excellent also. since water is problem, I have decided to convert my back garden to a south-west type garden, using her stunning three tier fountain on page 153 filled with succulents of many colors and textures in the cracked fountain that I almost gave away. This will be the focal point of the twelfth hundred square feet formally grass area. from that, I will use other photos in her book to create mini Garden in the surrounding area. In another photo I saw dymondia ground cover page 135, which can be walked on for other areas, which almost looks painted on. You see, you can design the entire using her container photos, just plant directly in the ground rather then a container. I attended her slide presentation Malibu,CA, the closest of her presentation to where I live. She is very generous with her time in answering our questions. This is the way to do a (do-it-yourself in) garden in this precarious economy. Go For It!

Title: Trust Me, Buy the Hard Copy
Review: This is an awesome book on container gardening. Ms. Baldwin accepted the challenge of demystifying succulents and how to grow them. And she did a wonderful job!She starts off by pairing plants with various pot types and styles. From there she talks about the many types of succulents along with some companion plants to consider. At the same time, you can see colorful photos with crisp detail. If you are a visual person like me, I can’t say enough good things about the importance of well-developed pictures. She talks about displaying your plants, the proper care and, lastly, she gives you some wonderful plant lists. If you are ever considering growing this family of plants, I would tell you to consider investing in the hard copy. It is money well-spent; you will get much use from this book.

Title: An awesome book for succulent lovers.
Review: I have ordered quite a few books from Amazon, the only place to go for me. When I discovered Debra Lee Baldwin’s “Succulent Container Gardens” book, I tried to find it at my local library. They did not have it so I recommended they buy it. Almost immediately, they did, and I checked it out and loved it so much I had to have my own copy. It has LOTS of gorgeous colored photos of all the possibilities you can do with colorful succulents in pots. I’m a bromeliad lover, but I have since developed a great interest in the easy to grow (even inside) succulents. I highly recommend this book and her other book as well, “Designing with Succulents” for landscaping purposes outdoors.

Review: This book is crammed full of wonderful photographs of succulents planted to perfection – in every conceivable combination of colour, texture and size. The author has a brilliant eye for designing her own plantings and for appreciating the ideas of others. I bought it for an elderly, succulent-loving, relative but I liked it so much I ordered another for myself and it’s got me hooked. Of course it is written with the American climate mainly in mind but there’s a plant list for a range of climates. Wonderful ideas!
