Title: Excellent value, albeit the tiniest bit slow
Review: I decided it was time to update the interior of my 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Having a “Double Din” size OEM unit, I was hoping that it would drop right in without much issue. There were two key aspects I was looking for; volume knob and Car Play. It is supinely hard to find nice units with a knob, as my 1997 doesn’t have steering wheel controls. After some research online, including a wonderful YouTube video (Shoutout to Guido’s Garage) showing the unit, I decided to purchase the stereo. I went with the upgraded QLED version, as often the cheapest units have slower processors and simply react slower. Wanting performance as close to an OEM unit, I figured it was worth the extra cost.Install went as easy as can be expected, although I did not install the rear backup camera or any of the steering wheel button options. It takes about 15 seconds from key on to Car Play connected, playing music. It comes with a 2 stage trim ring, which happened to fit very well in my bezel. A simple washer behind the bracket on my car, and the unit almost fits perfectly. Honestly, without spending dozens of hours measuring/scanning/3D printing, I wouldn’t be able to get a better fit. This is specific to my Eclipse though, so make sure to measure the opening on your vehicle.Performance is good to great. I’d say it is about 85-90% as fast as my OEM Jeep unit, and that is sufficient for my weekend “classic” car. If this was a daily driver, I might consider a more expensive unit. But it reacts fast enough when scrolling menus that it doesn’t bother me. Car play has not disconnected, and plays flawlessly. Once or twice it hasn’t shown the album cover art on the screen when playing music, but I’m not sure if that is bad wireless connection to Spotify instead. One thing to be aware, the phone connects via wifi to the unit. So if you are in the garage/house and trying to use wifi streaming music and also using the stereo, it won’t work (super specific case here, no cell coverage in the garage and was testing the stereo using garage wifi. Wouldn’t connect to both, so couldn’t play music via wireless CarPlay).I have not used the phone call features, so can’t comment there. One very cool feature is the custom loading screen. A single email to the vendor and they sent me a file to load. I was disappointed that the photo only shows for a split second, but it is still cool. It would be better if the custom photo showed the entire 10-15seconds it takes to load, but I’m not going to detract from the overall score. I view it as simply a bonus here.Overall, I rate this as a 5 considering the cost. There are many more expensive units, and some might better, but the value here is impressive. While I don’t have hands on experience with less expensive PLZ units, I’ve seen a few videos online and the touchscreen is slower. I think this is the best value for performance. I only have about 10 hours using the unit so far, and will update my review if things turn for the worse. Otherwise I’m pleased with the unit and will continue to use it.

Title: Fantastic Carplay replacement for old nav unit
Review: I decided it was time to replace my 9 year old nav unit as it was flaking out, really odd things happening with it. I also decided I wanted Apple Carplay because frankly the cost of updating maps on the nav plus the features available in Google maps kind of made it a no brainer. Of course I spent DAYS researching and one major thing I *needed* was a volume knob. I just cannot deal with a touchscreen volume control while driving (and I refuse to spend big bucks for the steering wheel control adapter)So I settled on the PLZ MP-926W and I simply could not be happier! This little guy is amazing! Now, since I had already done the hard part of installing a double din nav in my 2011 Ram 1500 pickup years ago that meant I already had a good harness adapter, the PAC C2R CHY4. All I needed to do was unsolder it from the old nav plugs and solder to the new PLZ plugs. Swapped the Scorpion trim kit to the PLZ and it went in easy peasey. Turned the key to acc and bingo- she booted right up. It was also easy as pie to connect my old Iphone 12 and even customize the layout on the PLZ screen. What a joy! Even the radio is better than on my old nav. One other reason I got the 926W is to have AM radio as well as FM. It scans and locks stations quickly and with the EQ options it just sounds great. The 1280×760 QLED screen is bright even in sunlight, something my old Jensen failed at miserably. The touch response is quick even in Carplay mode. One thing I really wanted to do was have the support team at PLZ help me change the boot logo. They told me to send the image I would like and they would send me a download link to copy to a usb drive. They were able to do this in just over a day! I just did the firmware and MCU updates today- took like 5-6 minutes and bang it boots up and looks like it came from the factory! Pic attached.Overall I’m thrilled with this head unit. It looks good, it sounds good and the support team is not only super fast to respond but incredibly friendly and NICE. Features for the dollar can’t be beat. If you’re considering getting a Carplay head unit this is an awesome one to choose!

Title: Expected results for a decent upgrade.
Review: This product is as advertised and performs as expected. It is great if you are looking to upgrade the stock unit. It brings modern features to an otherwise older vehicle. After a few hiccups with the wiring interface, which was not PLZ’s issue, everything works as should. Including the provided upgrade. Their support is very responsive and answered all my questions.
