A quick rundown of this product’s key features:
Born in Warsaw, Poland, on November 7, 1867, Marie Curie was forbidden to attend the male-only University of Warsaw, so she enrolled at the Sorbonne in Paris to study physics and mathematics. There she met a professor named Pierre Curie, and the two soon married, forming one of the most famous scientific partnerships in history. Together they discovered two elements and won a Nobel Prize in 1903. (Later Marie won another Nobel award for chemistry in 1911.) She died in Savoy, France, on July 4, 1934, a victim of many years of exposure to toxic radiation.

Title: Great Book
Review: I can’t say enough about these “who was” books. My granddaughter (age 7) loves reading them and learning about great historical figures. I have never seen her so interested in reading! Yes, these books do tell the truth about a subject and the time frame in which they lived. This can be objectionable and/or disheartening to some but these are facts, rather one agrees with them or not! The reality of life is people can achieve greatness! They can also fail on their journey. They can also overcome their mistakes. We have read 3 of these “who was” books so far and I think all of these books inspire young people and open the door for additional discussion between the young reader and an adult. I will be buying more “who was” books.

Title: True stories for children
Review: I’ve loved this series for several years initially giving them to my godchild and now to my children. They are easy to read biographies. This one of Marie Curie was my daughter’s favorite: glad that she’s learning of smart women who were independent and strong. Parents: be aware that the books do mention the themes of birth, death, cancer, war, sexism, violence, etc.

Title: Nice book for an 8 year old
Review: Love these books. My son, who is 9 has been reading them for a little over a year now and this book is wonderful. I must say that this one is not one of his favorites. He is a history junkey, lol. He so far seems to love the Jackie Robinson, Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, Robert E Lee, What is the world series the best as a 8 and 9 year old.I also read these to him in the evenings and I really enjoy them as a 40 year old father. I have learned so much from them as well. Sometimes I read them before or after my son in order to have an educated discussion with him about the subject of the book. I really also get alot out of them as well.
