Customers say
Customers find the backup camera easy to install, with quick iPhone setup and decent picture quality. The functionality and WiFi range receive mixed feedback – while it works well with iPhones, it doesn’t work with the latest Android OS, and customers report a 10-15 second connection delay. Moreover, the app receives negative feedback, with customers describing it as terrible, and several customers report constant freezing issues. Value for money is also mixed, with some saying it does awesome for its price while others find it not worth it.

Title: For alternative use on a telescope, it’s a bargain
Review: I’m using this as a way to stream imagery from an 8″ telescope at 220X, to an ipad, using an external camera. Touching the camera even with your eye / forehead at these magnifications makes for a shaky image. This little jewel solves that problem at a very low cost. The good:Is easy to useCost is relatively lowPower drain is pretty lowVideo image is OKHas a power out plug reducing the number of power plugs requiredSets up quickly with an iPhoneActually has a password you can resetSupports many other applications where a simple imagery to WiFi link would be beneficialThe not quite as good:It’s not a 1080P picture, but it’s workableWas only able to connect 1 device at a timeI’m pretty happy with it, and hope there is a 108P or 4K version coming soon.

Title: Takes Too Long to Connect
Review: Installation was relatively easy, the aspect ratio is pretty archaic. It’s 2024 and we don’t have wide screen? If you are using it as a backup cam make sure it has constant connection, otherwise it takes at least 60 seconds to turn on, connect to wifi, and see in the app. The app doesn’t auto start with wifi connection either. The other down side is that when connected to the camera wifi, you lose your data connection. So when you’re driving you can’t view your camera while you listen to music. That’s not terrible when using it for backing up, but you can’t use it for a traffic cam. Even still, having to connect to the cam via wifi and then open the app just to back up is daunting and annoying. There HAS to be something better out there. I just haven’t found it yet.Update, downgraded to one star. In just a few months the unit is garbage. I’ve got power to it, all things are normal, the unit is no longer transmitting a wifi signal. Absolute POS.

Title: Quick Setup and Compatibility
Review: Works great for integrating your tablet or smartphone as your backup camera screen. Takes alittle to get use to, but it serves its purpose. It automatically turns on when placing vehicle in reverse, however it does not turn off once you put vehicle in park. You will have to close out the camera app. Otherwise it functions as described.

Title: Good wifi range and option to change the wifi name …
Review: Doesn’t work with Android. But worked with iOS.Good wifi range and option to change the wifi name and password is very useful.Put this on my 25′ toyhauler and wifi signal was good and was able to see the picture clealy. It takes a few second to show the pucture after opening the app. If it’s not showing the picture in 10-15sec, close the app and reopen it.I will update it after my camping trip.

Title: Works, but make sure you know what you’re getting…
Review: Installation was fairly easy, I tied in to the blue wire (light harness on rear driver side Hyundai Sonata 2011) so it turns on when the car is put in reverse. I paired this with the CAR ROVER® Color CCD Sony Chip 100% Glass Lens 170 Degree Wide Angle Car Rear View Reversing Back-up Number Plate Lamp Camera with the idea that we could use our cellphones as the screen. It takes longer to initialize the wifi network to connect to the phone app than is useful, and if you are trying to do a multi-point turn it is unusable as the wifi network turns off/on each time you shift out of reverse. Syncing the phone to wifi and opening the app takes 15 seconds minimum. The app DOES NOT WORK with my Samsung Edge 7. There are about three versions of the app in the Google store, none worked with Samsung but was able to get it working with a Moto X Pure. You should either plan to wire it so that it is always on or run a dedicated video wire to your screen near the dashboard. Trying to use it in reverse-only mode is pretty much a waste of time.

Title: Update. Stopped working after one month. Will not buy again
Review: This device works great with a simple camera. I did wire it to my running lights so that I do not lose wifi signal if I have to go into drive. The reason I purchased this is to place my trailer on my hitch. I don’t this it is a good set up if you want to use it as a back up camera for your vehicle. I would suggest a monitor that you power up to along with a camera. Because there are steps you have to do with the wifi 1) wait for signal while in reverse2) connect to wifi or wait for connection 3) activate wifiav App. This can be a pain every time you want to back up.Overall I am very pleased for what I use it for. There is a good connection and wifi signal. An occasional lag every now and then. For a $70.00 system with camera and extension cable it sure beats the $400.00 system an audio store wanted to install.

Title: Works, but Impractical
Review: I thought this would be very cool. My phone is already mounted on my dash, so adding this and a camera gives me a backup camera with no extra screens. Yes, it works, and it does what it advertises, and setup was easy. If you are certain you want a backup camera that works like this, then buy it. However, a device that does what this device does is, by its nature, VERY impractical. Here’s why: It makes its own WiFi, which is cool. But in order to use it you need to switch to that wifi. So, if you have wifi at home and jump into your car, then you have to start the car, wait about 20 seconds for the device’s WiFi to start, open your Settings app, switch to the device’s WiFi, then switch back to your home screen and launch the Camera app. So that’s about a minute of work, all together. If you want to get in the car and back up right away with the aid of this device, that’s not going to happen. Then, assuming you’ve done all of that, and you’re on the road and you want to access any internet-enabled app, or if you use WiFi calling on your phone at home, you MUST turn off the phone’s WiFi in order to use that app (or make a call if you use WiFi calling at home.) As a result, after having it for a week, I don’t use it any more. I’ll be returning it. In a nutshell, if after reading this it all still fits with how you use it, then consider this a 4-star rating (sometimes there’s a lag in the image). But if you’re going to use it in a fairly standard way, just get a dedicated backup camera and screen. You’ll use it much more.
