Title: Lovely story and beautiful historically accurate illustrations
Review: What I love about this Cinderella book is not only that story is very well told, but the illustrations are beautiful and accurately depict historical clothing (Louis XIV period in French history in this case). Kinuko Craft works to depict the characters as they would have been shown in certain places and historical periods…with an added touch of fantasy as well.If you look at her illustration for the opera Madame Butterfly, you’ll see exactly the clothing appropriate to a Japanese lady in the 1850s in Japan. My mother is Japanese and not only recognized the clothing as period-appropriate, but also recognized the harbor that was depicted outside of Madame Butterfly’s window. It is that accurate.Rest assured that if you get any of these fairy tales for your children, including the Greek myth Cupid and Psyche, you can tell them what’s shown is what people used to wear in different historical periods.I bought this for my granddaughter, and it’s still one of her biggest favorites.

Title: This was a wonderful telling of Cinderella
Review: I loved this telling of Cinderella but not because I think it’s better than the Disney one. (I absolutely love the Disney one, I watched it so many times as a child) I think both of them are equally good variations of the Charles Perrault fairytale. I didn’t think the illustrations were beautiful at first because they felt different to me compared to Sleeping Beauty’s which was also illustrated by K.Y. Craft. I had that book ever since I was in elementary school when I asked a teacher to buy it for me. Along with the enchanting art it also came with a wonderful smell maybe almost like roses or a nice perfume on the inside of the pages. The art in that book seemed like the most beautiful artwork I’ve ever seen in any picture book I’ve ever read. Also from reading this I’ve come to realize that Cinderella is for dreamers because she herself is one (I always thought Sleeping Beauty would be more the one who was the princess of dreams because you know-the Disney one and all that.) So I think it’s sweet when you open up the book you always see that message for the readers.I have begun to love the illustrations and writing in Cinderella book though after giving it more chances by re-reading it at least six times. I would definitely recommend it. Also to any person who’s beginning to be a fan of K.Y. Craft’s art or is interested in looking at more by her and also wants to start collecting her books I would suggest maybe not go looking at them on google images because you might be spoiled by a illustration that’s from one of the picture books she’s worked on. I just thought I’d type this in case someone would prefer to be surprised if they want to read a book that’s she’s illustrated. I’ve personally had something like this happen to me and now I don’t feel much for some of her art because I’ve already seen some of it.

Title: Beautiful inside and out
Review: I feel like this book is ridiculously underrated. And by that I don’t mean that it has low ratings, but rather that it has so few of them. This book is worthy of a lot more hype than it is getting!I got it primarily for the illustrations, I’ve read a lot about them and could tell even from the cover that they were fantastic. But I was pleasantly surprised with the content as well. While I agree with the reviewer who mentioned certain lack of detail, I’m guessing that no one can write a version of such a hugely popular classic that would please EVERYONE. And of all the Cinderella stories I’ve read, heard, and watched, I prefer this one by far. It has more detail, it explains better where the fairy Godmother comes from, it makes the relationship between Cinderella and Prince more real, and makes both of them a lot nicer and kinder.I’m absolutely thrilled I own this book, and recommend it to anyone who can appreciate art and fairy tales – kids or adults. To me, it was such a welcome change from Disney-like princesses!I’m definitely a fan of K.Y. Craft now and intent to purchase her other books in the future!

Title: Cinderella
Review: I recently discovered the beautiful illustrations of Kinuko Y. Craft. Her art is beautiful, mesmerizing. Upon this discovery, I decided I needed to add her magnificent book illustrations to my collection. There are quite a few. I started with four of the loveliest. Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Cupid and Psyche, and Beauty and the Beast. I can’t begin to describe how gorgeous each book actually is. I would’ve loved these as a young girl and probably worn out the pages. So, I’m collecting these books for my granddaughters. While I love the Disney versions of each of these fairytales, make no mistake. You will not find talking mice or Sebastian the cat here. What you will find is sheer delight between the pages. Prepare to be artistically impressed. In fact, I like this telling of Cinderella best. And, I think every little girl in the world would absolutely agree with me. Stunning!

Review: Ilustrações bonitas, mas poucas e não tão interessantes como pensei que iria achar. Não chega a ser uma decepção, mas acho que não teria comprado se o visse por dentro.
