Title: What A Beautiful Woman!
Review: Eleanor Parker Hollywood’s most famous unknown movie star. Most know her from the movie THE SOUND OF MUSIC as the beautiful baroness. She is the woman of a thousand faces and in this movie she gives you yet another peek of her wonderful light. She is tremendous as Christy! Her comedic timing, drama, and bedroom eyes are so on point. She brings to the table a laugh factor as well as a dramatic flare. I adore this woman! She’s more than a beautiful face…..she is a wonderful talent. The younger generation should take note She is truly an ICON.

Title: Didn’t make me smile.
Review: Sometimes an old-fashioned romantic comedy fills the bill. This time it simply didn’t.The movie had some potential, with good character actors, nice premise, sweet theme song, and gorgeous wardrobe. However, the characters lacked any wit or charm. Parker’s character, Cristobel, quickly turned from smart and efficient legal assistant to a scheming, rude gold digger. Likewise, McMurray’s character, Peter, started off a womanizing, lazy, self-centered man after a rich bride (who had been his best friend’s girl).The romance depended mostly on Parker’s sideways glances and McMurray’s hard and fast clutching the heroine in the moonlight. Their loving dialogue peaked as a freight train passes. Cristobel looks into Peter’s eyes and says in a voice full of longing, “I love freight trains. They are so romantic …. All those boxcars coming from and going to different places, carrying all that oil and bananas, peanut butter…”Yes, peanut butter. Even Parker had to lower her gaze after that line. Trains have been used in romantic comedies of this era to mean much more than travel. Too bad this movie never connected. No smiles here.

Title: Fun and funny!
Review: A perfect couple of actors to pair up..Fred MacMurray and Eleanor Parker. Eleanor is sent to give Fred the news that he had come into a large inheritance. She sets out to win him, although he is going to be married to someone else. The things she does and the mischief she gets them into has them going from one madcap thing to another. They just don’t make movies like they used to!

Title: Cute movie and Lana Turner plays a nice girl
Review: Cute 1951 movie that we’ve never seen. Lana Turner’s nice character similar to those played by actresses like Carole Lombard or Constance Bennett . She did a nice job and the movie was worth watching. She doesn’t play a femme fatale or nasty character.

Title: Hollywood needs to take a clue from the movies they used to make
Review: We love Fred McMurray. Its interesting seeing him in different roles than when he was the dad in My Three Sons. We really enjoyed this movie. Watched it once by streaming, but decided we need to own it, and watch with some friends. Very entertaining and fun! Nice to see a romantic comedy that isn’t trashy like today’s movies.
