Title: accurate if used carefully

Review: Unfortunately, this historical looking artifact is not of good quality and of little use as a measurement instrument. It is cheap in every sense of the word.There were no instructions, nor specifications, just a poorly packaged device with a glass plate in a crushed box. Perhaps it was damaged in transit, who knows. WARNING: The base pins are very sharp. They are also crooked, one wobbled and nothing measures out as it should. This is most unfortunate since the principle of the device is very sound.A generic diagram was obtained from the seller after contacting them but they have no idea of the specifications. I added measurements of mine and comments to the seller.I also found another diagram of a type with balls that would not destroy the sphere (ex: plastic or glass lenses). I also uploaded this information in case it may be of use to someone wanting to know more about how to measure spheres.Unfortunately, the AMAZON return window expired by the time I got an answer, so, buyer beware! If you are looking for a intriguing decoration, perhaps it may be of interest to you. I will gladly give you mine!
