Title: I thought this was a nice little manual well worth the read
Review: I thought this was a nice little manual well worth the read. I have a few antique tractors and other equipment plus vehicles. Many vehicle parts aren’t so easy to rebuild anymore, we’ll they are it just isn’t the society we live in now and the basic parts you need for a rebuild are tough to find. The equipment and tractors parts on the other hand are very rebuildable so that’s what I bought this for and I think with the 1 starter I’ve rebuilt so far it’s already paid for itself.

Title: Thanks! Great service!
Review: Great book, refreshes the mind of what’s in a ac motor and dc motor, great beginners book, but also a little complex if you don’t know what you are doing. 5 stars!

Title: Good basic book
Review: You will find very few books on this subject. This book gives a good overview of the repair business and a step by step procedure for assembly/disassembly of alternators and starter motors. Would like to have seen more and clearer photos and diagrams. Those in the book are low quality.

Title: A little short on specifics
Review: Fairly good on the general basics of starters and alternators. This book was written by and Englishman, so the language and technical info is slanted somewhat toward the UK and it seemed a bit dated. If you are looking for specifics on rebuilding some specific US alternator or starter, there may be better places to find information, like dealer shop service manuals.

Title: Don’t waste your money.
Review: What a waste of money. The book is just a tad larger than your standard paperback. Just over 100 pages. Not, I say NOT a good manual. About the quality that a gifted tech school student could produce.

Review: This is exactly what I needed! I was able to rebuild the starter on my bike and save a ton of money doing so! She’s never ran better.

Title: Poor illustrations, D – grade
Review: I was dissapointed. Like others have noted, it is old and dated, few pictures and very old at that. Look somewhere else.

Review: Nicely written and will be very useful to most people, but I was looking for more technical detail than this book contained.

Review: This had great info in it. This isn’t the book to get if you’re looking for a how to on exactly how to recondition rotating electrical, rather it is a general technical book mixed with a general business approach. A great book to start with. It is worth the money just for the couple of pieces of equipment he shows you how to build, and the perspective on a re-building business. Saves you a lot of time headache and money.

Review: No diagnosis of how to check if the alternator/starter motor needed repairing. Very poor, outdated, and from a technical stance the worst book I have read for a long time. Total waste of money. No more long distance buying of reference books for me. If I can,t touch it first I won’t be buying it.

Review: This is a very, very basic book. Most of it deals with systems from 50 years ago. If you are looking to rebuild newer starters and alternators this is not for you Maybe someone who has never worked on a car before. Very basic.
