A quick rundown of this product’s key features:
In this steamy tale by USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn, an American searching for her purpose escapes to a Scottish town but finds more questions than answers when she meets a brooding yet handsome handyman.
Freshly fired from her third job in a row, Bonnie St. James has lost her way. So when she and her best friend stumble upon a “help wanted” post to run a coffee shop in the Scottish Highlands, they apply on a whim. Who knows? Maybe traveling to a new place is just what she needs to figure out her next move.
When the friends arrive in the tiny idyllic town of Corsekelly, they instantly fall for the gorgeous Highland landscape and friendly townspeople. But Bonnie finds a less-than-warm welcome in Rowan MacGregor, the rugged local handyman. Busy wrestling his own demons, Rowan’s in no mood to deal with the quirky American―even if she is a bonny lass.
As Bonnie and Rowan’s paths inevitably cross, insults―and sparks―fly. Can the pair build on their similarities to help each other find purpose and direction…and maybe romance too? Or will their passionate tempers fling them apart?

Title: Top Tiered Banter filled Rom Com – LOVED!
Review: Meghan Quinn always nails it & this one is no different. This had me smiling, laughing, swooning & tearing up with her wonderfully likeable & endearing characters. Rowan’s grumpy yet adorable demeanor made him instantly attractive & was perfectly paired with Bonnie’s quirky personality. Their enemies to lovers banter had me rolling with laughter. I also loved the side characters – found family is perfect. Plus who doesn’t love a Scottish setting??

Title: Sassy but slow
Review: I can’t say that this is one of my favorites from MQ, but it still has plenty of her signature humor – and that made it a pretty fun read. This has got the same “mainstream,” toned down feel as The Wedding Game, though The Highland Fling kicks the steam up a notch. I’d ALMOST call it women’s fiction at times, because the romance is VERY slow-moving (and ultimately felt like instalove towards the end). It’s filled with humor, remaining exceedingly light except for one or two minor subplots that add an extra dose of heart. I loved the hero, and wish we got to know him better – Rowan is a grumpy Scot with a heart of gold, a guy who didn’t stand a chance against our bubbly and bold heroine. The two have a great opposites attract connection, and the moments when they were together were, without a doubt, the best parts of the book. They were just too few and far apart. The story follows Bonnie, a 24-year-old American who isn’t sure what she wants to do with her life. When an intriguing job opportunity presents itself, Bonnie and her best friend decide to take the adventure of a lifetime and run a coffee shop in Scotland for six months. But upon arrival in Scotland, things do not go as planned. There’s culture shock, the coffee shop is not what they expected, and there’s a surly Scot who catches Bonnie’s eye. Rowan has no interest in getting involved with the outgoing American, but Bonnie is persistent – and he can’t seem to stay away. As the two grow closer, Bonnie discovers that she might’ve found herself in the place she least expected.I’ll one-click anything that MQ writes, because her humor always brings a smile to my face, and her heroes are always swoonworthy. This definitely DID and DIDN’T feel like an MQ book. Yes, it’s funny – there’s plenty of offbeat humor that makes this feel fresh and light. Yes, I loved Rowan – I wanted more of him. But it’s also a lot slower moving and more sedate than her usual. The first half just felt plain slow to me, and it takes a long, long time before the romance gets going. Only a small portion of the book is actually devoted to Rowan and Bonnie together, so their relationship also feels a bit like instalove in that way. I didn’t love the beginning, I didn’t love the ending – but I did sincerely enjoy the middle. That’s where I’m at with this one. Fans of her bolder books (Earn Your Extra Credit, The Perfect Catch, etc) might find this too slow-paced for them, but newer fans may love this Highland adventure.Audio note: Not a fan of the audiobook, lol. A lot of this story is told from Bonnie’s perspective, and her narrator did a good job – I had no trouble telling the characters apart, and her voice is easy to listen to. However, Rowan’s character has a thick Scottish accent. The female narrator handles that pretty well, no major complaints there. But I just couldn’t take the male narrator’s voice seriously. Every time Rowan had a chapter, it just reminded me of the duke from The Bromance Book Club – an over-the-top, humorous voice with a strong Scottish accent. I didn’t find it sexy at all, it was more laughable than anything (ESPECIALLY when he voices Bonnie’s character). That made the romantic (and steamy) scenes awkward to listen to, and I actually switched back to the Kindle edition once the focus shifted to Rowan and Bonnie’s relationship. In terms of the story itself, it does lend itself well to listening, though it might get awkward at the workplace. There’s plenty of inappropriate humor at the start of the book, so even though this is very much a slow burn romance, there is some sexual content throughout. The runtime is good for the workday though – just a bit longer than a day at the office, with no need to carry over to a second day. I would’ve liked the audiobook with a different male narrator.

Title: Let’s get real…
Review: I enjoyed most of this book and I was frustrated with other parts. I still highly recommend reading it, and let me tell you why.First off, the location! Who doesn’t dream of ditching the busy life and heading to a quaint village in Scotland?!? The author puts you smack dab in the middle of some beautiful scenery (the big Scottish men aren’t too shabby either)! The townsfolk are absolutely delightful, including the town goat! Lots of comedy and antics that make you chuckle out loud. There’s a dual love story happening and I found that pretty cool. You get just enough that it doesn’t overwhelm the main love story. The other love story is a same sex couple and it’s beautifully written. Our hero is my favorite kind—-grumpy with a heart of solid gold! He’s not perfect and certainly has his demons, but you love him from the start. Yeah, he doesn’t make a grand gesture after he messes up, but, as I state in more detail below, this book is more real life than sweep you away romance. Now our heroine- she’s a bit difficult to love. This is where I’ve seen some of the reviews for this book rapidly decline.. some people giving 1 star because they just couldn’t connect with her. I took some time to really reflect on the character and found I don’t personally identity with her-Bonnie is 24 years old and I haven’t been that age in a long time. I do, however work with younger women and once I changed my perspective I realized, this book is real. If you want your characters to be perfect and show few flaws, you might not be able to get past Bonnie’s youthful character (and yes, she is sometimes selfish and spoiled). .Now, that being said about our heroine, she had a dialogue that stuck with me immediately and is one of the memorable book quotes for me this year. If you’ve read this far, see the quote below. It’s why, regardless of there being so much realism (and toward the end of the book you may find some tears-I know I did), this still gets a 5 star from me. This is between the heroine and get bestie:“I want to make one thing clear: being gay doesn’t define you. Do you understand that? I think sometimes people fall under the impression that if you’re gay, that’s who you are. You’re gay, and they leave it at that. But that’s not fair. And just like a beautiful, nonsmelly onion” she chuckles, “you have layers, and being gay isn’t the outer ring; it isn’t even the second or third. It’s deep at your core, and you keep it there, close to your heart, because that’s the way you choose to live your life.”Mike drop. Round of applause. Brilliantly written, Ms. Quinn.

Review: Wow. Just wow.Cautions before reading this book- you will eat shortbread in the same quantities that Bonnie does just saying, you have been warnedThis book has everything. The humour is pee your pants level funny. The chemistry between the characters, their development, the effort taken to incorporate the slang is next level.I loved this book.. I am a huge Meghan Quinn fan and I have to say I am in awe of this story and how it shows strong leading lady characters, that are going through relatable early 20s problems. The storyline addresses the complexity of death, grief, navigating friendships, identity/self-discovery, the impacts of breakups and self-esteem this has, same sex relationships. You experience all of these emotions right alongside the characters. Quinn doesn’t shy away, she takes your hand and leads you through every feeling, heartbreak is foreshadowed you know it’s coming but I appreciate that Quinn doesn’t make it magically disappear, these are real life struggles and the story line pushes you to keep reading and turning the pages. ❤️❤️❤️ What a ramble but it was such a refreshing read

Review: Meagan Quinn is an absolute delight! From the very first chapter, I was swept away into a world filled with charm, humor, and romance. Quinn’s writing is engaging and vibrant, painting a picturesque backdrop of the Scottish Highlands that makes you feel as though you’re right there alongside the characters. The story follows a lovable protagonist who finds herself in a series of hilarious and unexpected situations. The mix of witty banter and genuine emotion creates a perfect balance that kept me entertained throughout. The chemistry between the leads is electric, and their journey is filled with ups and downs that are both relatable and heartwarming. What I appreciated most about Highland Fling is how it seamlessly blends romance with personal growth. The characters are well-developed, each with their own struggles and triumphs, which adds depth to the story.

Review: This is one of my favourite books! It is just so cozy set in a coffee shop in a small Scottish town. There is character growth, and development. All of the characters personality and backstory is not just revealed at the beginning but rather revealed throughout the book, and while at times its predictable, its done in a way that reflects the characters personalities. The story line is super well written and has lots of comedy and spice and romance. The side characters added so much to this story, they supported the main characters and each other and felt like they had their own unique personalities and that they belonged/were needed in the plot rather than just people to fill up the setting.I love Meghan Quinn but find her to sometimes write female characters who are a bit overly quirky, and while I found that the characters had overly quirky moments they were relatable and seemed like actual human beings who exist. Spoilers** There is a third act breakup due to miscommunication and other fights due to miscommunication which is kind of annoying but wasn’t done in a dramatic way that ruined the book for me.This love story was so cute that it made me want to run off to the Scottish highlands for my own little love story. One of my favourite stories and definitely one of my comfort reads.
