Title: Great business headset
Review: Pros:- All day comfort- Great ANC Mic- Great sound for calls, music, streaming content, etc- All day battery life- Zoom/Teams integration- Hear your surroundings- Large tactile buttonsCons:- Proprietary charging cable (needed for IP rating)- Wrap around wire extends beyond neckI have own(ed) just about every high end wireless headset/earbuds out there (Bose, Jabra, Pixel, LG, Plantronics/Poly, Sony, etc. For business (MS Teams, Zoom, Etc.)I’ve tried them all with my laptop and have used Plantronics Savi for years even though it’s not the most comfortable.I have used the original Aftershokz Opencomm headset and, although it offered great sound quality and superior mic quality, not having a dedicated mute button was a problem as a business headset. I have to press and hold vol up and vol down to mute and that was clumsy. Plus it muted the headset but not the Teams app itself. When my Plantronics headset started to lose battery life, i decided to try the Opencomm 2 UC. Reason: The Opencomm 2 UC is Zoom certified (and integrates perfectly with Teams).; the UC 2 also has a dedicated mute button on the mic stem; and the UC 2 has a USB dongle. The dongle connection is far better and more reliable than regular Bluetooth connection on a laptop. Plus it provides longer distance (up to 100 feet), which is basically 3X the distance from standard Bluetooth. The mic is as good or better than the mic on the original Opencomm headset, which Id rate as the best ANC mic in the business! The OC 2 has great battery life… It’s rated at 16 hrs talk time and 8 hrs listening time. That’s important to me because I don’t just take Teams calls and Teams meetings, but I’m a software trainer and teach all-day classes online. So, I need a headset that truly lasts all day.The OC 2 also offers multi-point connection. So, I can connect to my laptop and my cellphone at the same time and it switches perfectly when called on. The original Opencomm was multi-point also, but when I went out of range… say, leaving my office laptop and going in my car with the cellphone, it would beep incessantly to let me know the laptop was disconnected. With the OC 2, it simply says, “PC disconnected.”Because the “pads” that provide the sound sit in front of your ears and not on on or in your ears, you have great awareness of the sounds around you. However, for that reason, this headset isn’t meant to block out sound like on an airplane, etc. although you can put ear plugs in and still use the OC 2 if need be.Music sounds fine (not audiophile quality, but fine). However, at high volume, bass can be more vibration than sound. But I am quite satisfied listening to music or streaming content with the OC 2.Buttons are well managed. Separate up/down volume buttons on easy to find and use; the dedicated mute button is a huge plus; and the multi-function button works fine for play/pause, answer/end/ next previous. Being tactile buttons rather than touch buttons, you don’t accidentally trigger a command you didn’t intend to trigger.I have only two issues with the OC 2:1. They use a proprietary charging cable. I understand this is necessary to achieve their IP (dust/water rating); but it can be an issue if you travel and forget your cable. For this reason, I bought a couple of extra charging cables (available on Amazon) and keep one in my suitcase and one in my computer bag.2. The band that goes around the back of my head extends out about a half inch from my head. This gets in the way of the back of my office chair, my recliner, and the back of my automobile seat. The work around is to tilt it up higher than it would normally be sitting until it rests against your head. Not perfect, but workable.

Title: These are not audiophile quality headphones, but they are excellent for calls and meetings
Review: I’ve tested the OpenRun headset at a major sporting goods outlet on several occasions. I found them to be very comfortable with decent sound quality. A few months ago my work headset started to fail so I began researching a replacement. I wear this headset a minimum of 9 hours a day, sometimes 6 days a week, so I needed a comfortable headset. I also had to take into account my wearing hearing aids. Regular headsets don’t work well with hearing aids, so this made my search even more difficult. When I began my search, I didn’t know that Shokz had a headset with a microphone, it didn’t take me long to find out they did. At first I was a little hesitant to drop $200 dollars on them not knowing how they would perform for my work needs, but I eventually gave in when my Jabra headset refused to hold a charge for more than an hour. 2 days later they arrived. I immediately tested these with my PC. I found they have a decent quality sound, same as the OpenRun. Let me point out that these are in no way comparable to any high end, audiophile quality headphones. The sound is good, but if you are a music snob, these aren’t for you. The highs and lows are very good, but I find the mid range a little muddy. They are still good enough to stream music while working or working out, but they do not compare to the sound of any high end headphones or speakers. Several reviewers found the lows uncomfortable. Yes, certain sounds in the low frequencies will cause an uncomfortable feeling where these meet your head. This was most evident when receiving a call, the ring tone sometimes is almost painful. This is the one point that I dislike about them, they have a default ring tone that I have yet to figure out how to change, it’s Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries. Now I like this tune as much as anyone, but when your entire skull vibrates, you are very quick to answer that call. I’d love to be able to change to a less intense tune as well as find a way to adjust it’s volume. I could handle the tune if the volume were a bit lower, but the only way I have found to do that is to turn the headset volume down, but then hearing well on some calls becomes difficult. So overall I would say the quality of the product seems excellent, they are very comfortable, they work well with hearing aids, and the sound quality is very good. Again, not audiophile quality, but still very good for the average person. They beat out earbuds and most work quality, closed headphones in all of these areas. 9 out of 10, would buy again and have already recommended these to several of my coworkers who also have hearing aids.

Review: I drive a Smart Roadster Coupe Brabus. Calling hands free @100km/h is impossible. Too much noise from the wind and exhaust. Nobody understands what I’m saying. But this microphone sorts that out. I can attend meetings while driving now!

Review: ITEM REVIEWED : SHOKZ OpenComm2 2025 Upgrade – Open-Ear Bone Conduction Headphones,………………………………Wireless Bluetooth Headset with Noise Canceling Mic & Mute Button………………………………for Work Calls and Meetings, 16 Hour Talk Time – for Mobile & PC, Black____________________________________________________________________________________________I don’t know where to start. There are so many PLUS points I want to make.RECEIVE AUDIO – I was extremely skeptical that I would like to listen to communication audio (telephone, chat apps etc.) with bone conduction earphones. Further I was convinced that entertainment audio (music, audio programs, audio books etc.) would likely just sound “ok”. What a SHOCK I had during my first phone call using these. WOW did it sound good. Immediately I had to try to listen to some music… so I found and played my some of my favorite rock songs and of course a few of my favorite classical pieces. WOW It sounded great!!! And there was NOTHING inside my ears. The lows and the highs were there… plus everything in between. In the past I tried a pair of bone conduction earphones and that experience had tainted my opinion until now. SHOKZ is doing something new and/or different…. These things sound FANTASTIC. PLUS I can hear stuff going on around me as well – because my ears are not covered by earphones or plugged up with earbuds. The only drawback, which in my opinion is minor, and it’s because you’re not covering your ears, is that if the sounds in the environment around you are loud… well then you might not hear the music that well at that time. But you know, I expect that… and actually want that. IF someone is honking their car horn at me, I want to hear it and grab my attention anyway. AND I also realized that because it’s bone conduction technology… people around me don’t hear what I’m listening to… unless I crank the volume all the way… then they can hear it a little… but nowhere near as loud as standard earphones/earbuds can be heard by people around you. The maximum volume level these provide are just a little higher than I would want to listen to when my favorite tunes come on. So for me, there’s more than enough volume here. AND at full volume these bone conduction headphones do not tickle (vibrate noticeably) like the older bone conduction earphones I tried. At full maximum volume, there is a slight vibration feeling when there’s a lot of bass – but it was minimal – nothing like the tickling vibration from the set I tried a few years ago.MICROPHONE AUDIO – It has a FANTASTIC noise cancelling circuit built in. I still can’t believe the nice clear and concise audio the other person hears when I’m speaking on the phone (or a chat app). Completely missing are all the sounds happening around me. I can drive with the all four windows down at 80km/h (50mph) and the other person hears almost no wind noise at all – they only notice it when I ask… and they say that they really have to listen for it. Driving by a construction site was not detectable either… I heard it… but the person I was talking to didn’t. Now I was a fair distance away… and it was at the volume level of approximately someone sitting next to me talking a little loudly (still talking… not yelling)… I suspect however if the construction noises were much louder (if I was in the construction site?), of course the other person might then still hear some of (or more of) the noise… but still much reduced. During the same telephone call I turned this headset off and continued the conversation using the built in mic and earpiece in my smartphone… The person I talked to was amazed at all the background noises that they could hear now… that they didn’t hear before!!!! I did notice though that when it came to voices/conversations around me, they were noticeably reduced in my tests, however not as much as other sounds. I suspect perhaps voices are more challenging for the smarts in the noise cancelling circuits – because they shouldn’t be filtering out the person who’s talking! and how can it tell the difference?.I did not really test battery life, although I did use the headset for about 2 to 3 hours a day after a full charge each night. BUT what is further amazing is that it that only takes 5 minutes of charging to provide enough charge for 2 hours of usage! So a little bit of math (and actual charging experience) says that it takes around 25 minutes of charging to fully charge its batteries. WOW! How is that for quick charging? Impressive! The current listed price is CND$209.95 which at first glance appears a bit dear. But when you see the quality build, and experience the excellent performance, you’ll realize that you can’t expect to get this at a bargain price. It’s true, you get what you pay for. In this case I would say, you certainly do get your money’s worth…FINALLY, I want to mention that I went to SHOKZ website. I was extremely impressed by their well organized and very informative web pages. I easily found the support pages for this model, and was easily was able to find and download a PDF copy of the manual (a paper copy is included in the box). SHOKZ have also created and posted on their website quite a few demonstrative help videos. I check for internet support for most products that I review. I must say that SHOKZ’s website support pages for this product were far superior to many others I’ve seen in quite some time. This speaks volumes of their after sales support !____________________________________________________________________________________________* NOTE * – This product was provided to me FREE of charge as part of the Amazon Vine Review program without any conditions … other than that I must submit a review within 30 days of receipt.
