Title: Speed Your Way to Reading
Review: My children can be particular about the books they are willing to read. One of my kids is a huge Cars fan, and selected Race Team as an early reader. The book has held their interest enough to keep them reading until all of the words were mastered.Race Team is a “Ready to Read” book and targeted to pre-K to Kindergarten readers. This book features “big type and easy words, rhyme and rhythm, [and] picture clues.” It also tells a familiar story with the themes you’d expect from Cars: friendship and teamwork.Lightning McQueen is heading to a race and all of his car friends will help him prepare and travel to the race with him. This particular book does not contain rhyming words, but the pictures do provide clues. There are a few challenging words in Race Team, like “excited” and “reporters,” that will leave your child with a great sense of accomplishment when she can read them. “Ka-chow!”The text in the book is large and easy to read. There are 8-10 words per page in this 32 page book.Race Team was illustrated by the Disney Storybook Artists and stays true to the characters and scenes in cars. Many of the illustrations will have a familiar feel to fans of the first Cars movie: Lightning surrounded by reporters, Doc wearing his headset, McQueen with his tongue sticking out. When you’re learning to read, it’s nice to have books you enjoy. Luckily my kids have a wide variety of interests, so I get to listen to Cars books in addition to Princess and Barbie books! This is a fine “learn to read” book for the Cars fan in your home.

Title: Grandson loves Mack the Truck
Review: That I know of, there are no Cars books available where Mack is on the cover and on many pages of the book. As Mack is my grandson’s favorite Cars character, this makes this book his absolute favorite, because of the pictures. Not much plot. Not many words. Vibrant pictures. Truthfully, if it weren’t my grandson’s favorite book, I’d give it about 2 stars. I just don’t feel like we should give a free pass to early readers. Early readers can and should be easy to read yet still interesting.

Title: Excellent book
Review: Great for early reading. My child is just learning to read words and this book is perfect to help him gain confidence. Plus, he loves the movie Cars. There aren’t too many words, but we were not looking for that right now. Just one sentence or so per page.

Review: This book was perfect for reading to a toddler. I was simple, large words, lots of pictures, and just the right length. What I didn’t like was the thin pages and the paper back cover. Since it is a book intended for young children the book would be better made with a hard cover and slightly thicker pages. My two year old son loves it.

Review: Hi Cars Researcher! This book is part of the “Step into Reading” series. I totally and without reservation recommend it. There are many motivating (and easy) books – reviewer before me said sentence structure is awkward – this is because they are Early Readers. Great for those reluctant boys (and girls) who perhaps have been switched off from reading.Girls series has Barbie, Disney princesses, the works. This house thrives on them! The next release is out soon. Search “Step into Reading” – you will be pleasantly surprised.
