Title: Just perfect.
Review: I bought this for my 45yo brother (yes, we’re nerds). He was amazed by the complexity and structural strength of the build. The wings expanding and flapping is super cool. The counter locking gears is just neat. I knew it was big from the specs, but when I saw it in person, I was surprised–this thing is huge. I might buy one for myself now, too.

Title: Challenging and astounding
Review: First, I’m an advanced builder. I’ve done hundreds of sets over the last few years, mostly 18+ and some of the most advanced sets LEGO has available. This is by far one of the most complex and rewarding builds I’ve ever done. If you’re a first time builder or your last set was a castle when you were 8 years old- this set might not be the best set to jump into.As for the review mentioning a missing piece. As I said, I’ve built hundreds of sets- never had a single missing piece. Almost 100% of the time, it’s the person building not being thorough. They’ll spend hours scouring the floor but not think to look back in the bag. That’s almost ALWAYS where a “missing” piece is.In any case, LEGO will rush out a replacement for that piece you probably threw in the trash.This set is a great value. Number of minifigs is insane. And it may be the only Dune set we get.

Title: Great representation of the film
Review: After watching the first Dune I thought, man it would be cool if there was a model kit of the ships. Low and behold…This was a fun build, and comes with some great mini figures. The ship looks great, and the wing functions are really cool (folding, flapping).If you are a Dune fan, or just a fan of Sci Fi in general, I would recommend grabbing one of these sets.

Review: This is an incredible build. It’s amazing how they fit the mechanism to fold and flap the wings, the landing gear and the back ramp inside of the small body. It also just looks fantastic; even better than in the product images. Having all of the first film’s characters in mini figures is pretty cool too. Here’s hoping they do more Dune vehicles, like the Spice Harvester, or the ominous Harkonnen ship from the start of Part 2.

Review: Highly recommend this set. If you like Dune and or the lore of Dune then this Lego Thopter is going to be a real treat for you. This is a very fun build with some great moments. When you complete a section, stand back and soak it in. Yea you build it.One thing to mention if you are very focused on details and like true replicas read next part. Before you start the build and have some extra $ is to lookup Lego Dune Ornithopter upgrades and you will see some videos and posts where they list replacement parts. To name one of the few changes is something like the red ball joints on the wings they change to black ones.
