A quick rundown of this product’s key features:

This long-awaited follow-up to the New York Times bestselling The MELT Method introduces a unique, scientific-based proactive training program for improving overall balance, performance, and control while preventing pain and injury.

Are you an athlete facing constant injuries that hold you back from achieving peak performance? Are you someone who wants to stay fit, but are dealing with aches and pains that make it more difficult to work out? Do you want to exercise or train without being sidelined by stress fractures, strained ligaments, and painful joints?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you need MELT Performance.

The conditioning you do to stay in shape and perfect and improve performance—running on a treadmill, doing squats or bicep curls, practicing our backhand, even doing downward dog—requires repetitive movements. Yet 80% of orthopedic injuries are the result of repetitive motion, not trauma or accidents. In MELT Performance, nationally recognized educator, manual therapist, and exercise physiologist Sue Hitzmann introduces a revolutionary program centered on neurological joint stability or Neurostrength, that will revolutionize your health and performance.

The foundation of MELT Performance is stability. To stay injury free, our joints must stable before we do repetitive motions. Acquiring stability allows the body to respond to the demands of motion. It’s the way we were designed to function—and allows us to move more efficiently, improve coordination, and save our joints. Knowing how to check in, restore, and reintegrate joint stability before it’s compromised gives an unparalleled advantage to anyone who trains hard to perform at their best.

Hitzmann’s techniques are proven to work—they’re already used by world renowned professional athletes and fitness enthusiasts. If you’re ready to improve your performance and prevent injury, MELT Performance is essential no matter what sport or activity you pursue.

MELT Performance includes black-and-white instructional images throughout.

Title: A Game Changer for Athletes and the Average Joe alike!
Review: MELT Performance by Sue Hitzmann is BRILLIANT! Sue’s understanding and knowledge of how the body stabilizes and functions efficiently is profound. Her MELT Performance techniques and treatments will empower athletes to desk jockeys and everyone in between, to improve their body’s stability and efficiency of movement to avoid, reduce and eliminate compensation patterns that lead to pain and injury, creating resilient bodies that perform better. Sue presents this information in a clear and practical manner, that empowers the reader to break the pain and injury cycle that plagues athletes and desk jockeys alike. As a Pilates instructor myself, MELT Performance is invaluable to me AND my clients. MELT has helped me to reduce the pain associated with repetitive postures and faulty movement patterns. In 2014, I was having chronic pain due repetitive postures and the stress of working long hours establishing by business. I discovered the gift of MELT and I no longer have chronic pain. My body feels and functions as it did in my 20’s. It has helped my clients in the same way.Sue has dug down deep to what is at the root of dysfunction and pain in the body and MELT Performance addresses it effectively and efficiently, like nothing and no one else! This IS a Game Changer! If you are an athlete or an average Joe, who wants to function and perform better, while reducing your risk of injury and eliminating pain, MELT Performance will do that for you and SO MUCH MORE!Patti Sanchez

Title: Best Nervous System Hack!
Review: Best Nervous System Hack!I discovered MELT several years ago when I saw a flyer advertising a class that promised to restore the sense of ease in my body and reduce the effects of aging. I noticed a difference in my body after my very first class! Wanting to understand why it was so effective, I bought Sue Hitzmann’s first book – The MELT Method – and I was blown away by the evidence-based underpinnings of the method. There are so many fitness fads and self-care crazes that are dubious at best and can actually be harmful to the body. As a research enthusiast, I was truly impressed by Sue’s reliance on the latest scientific findings as well as by her ability to make the terminology of research clear and concise for the lay reader. With her latest book, MELT Performance, Sue takes us to the next level of understanding the anatomy and physiology of the connective tissue and, more importantly, how the health of the nervous system is so dependent on it. Now that she has taught us how to rehydrate our connective tissue to return it to its elastic and supple state, Sue shows us how to overcome years, even decades of poor body mechanics, and restore the efficient primal patterns of movement we learned as infants. As she says in the book, “every movement is a skill”. I particularly appreciate the “taking the side streets” analogy to illustrate how we create compensation patterns that ultimately lead to pain and injury. Get me back on the highway! There is definitely a lot of scientific explanation in the early chapters. I appreciate having that information but, as Sue says in the introduction, if you know all that or you go cross-eyed reading about it, you can jump straight to Parts Two and Three to find the moves and sequences.Unlike other books I’ve read on fitness topics, Sue’s includes a chapter on the emotional effects of pain and injury. As a culture, we’ve been programmed to ignore or push through pain. We blame our bodies for “failing” us. It’s way past time we learned, as Sue says, that our bodies are not failing us, rather we are failing our bodies. We need to listen to the signals that are telling us to pay attention. She delves into the science of pain itself, and how emotional trauma and physical pain are intimately intertwined. In the sections detailing the MELT Performance moves, Sue is meticulously careful and thorough in her explanations. I really appreciate that she doesn’t promise you’ll get it perfectly the first time you try. She stresses the importance of getting the set up right so that we get the desired result – restoring stability in our joints. She explains how we can tell if we are doing it right – or not. That’s critical to me so I don’t end up getting frustrated and giving up. Instead, I’m willing to take the time to learn how to be my own healer.I know the word “revolutionary” gets thrown around a lot, but in this case it’s totally justified!

Title: Fascinating Read
Review: As a follow up to the MELT Method Book, MELT Performance delivers and exceeds expectations and takes the MELTing to a new level. This book, like the first book, meets you where you are. It explains in such a clear and concise manner why and how you can get yourself out of pain, living in a state of function and performing at your best. I found the MELT Method over 4 years ago to help get myself out of chronic knee pain. MELT Performance takes living pain free to a new level of living in optimal condition. I have found that I have better posture, less hip and low back pain and improved endurance and control when I work out. It has improved my body ability to stabilize, isolate certain muscles and maintain proper alignment for my entire day.I have two children so I feel like I am always holding one, picking up stuff, over stretching my shoulders to reach into the back seat with a sippy cup; basically doing anything and everything to jack myself up. Since adding 10-20 minutes in a day of MELT into my day, I am generally in a much better mood, sleeping better, and I have the energy to play and be active with my kids. I am able to be the mother, wife, teacher, friend and confident to those closest in my life because I have found better balance in my life. Adding in self-care and taking time incorporate all 6 R’s of the MELT Method into my daily routine I am living a much happier and fuller life. Happy MELT-ing

Review: Sue’s latest book includes some of the basics as well as more advanced neurostrength techniques. I have been practising MELT for almost six years and have taken trainings with Sue and the Master Trainers. Sue motivates us with her humour, intelligence and energy and makes the study fascinating. Connective tissue is the largest system in the body and touches all the other systems. Her goal in creating this method is to enable everyone to improve their health. By assessing your body, practising the movements and re-assessing, you immediately notice the changes. Even though I was exercising the disks of my spine were being compressed. This resulted in sciatica and back pain. Being able to re-set your own low back is very empowering. Maintaining the health of our spine, and therefore the nervous system, is an important part of staying active as we age and just one benefit of MELT. The Performance book shows even more advanced techniques to strengthen, create fluid exchange and release that fluid to joint spaces. Neurostrength allows deeper and longer lasting changes. I appreciate Sue’s simplification of these complex concepts as we learn more about the science.

Review: This book really is the key to optimal, pain-free movement performance. Previously available only for manual therapists and advanced level MELT instructors, this book offers an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide on how to strengthen and maintain joint stability. This is a must-read for any personal trainer, Pilates or yoga instructor or sports coach who wants to help their clients reach and exceed their fitness and/or sports-specific goals. I’ve seen clients reduce pain medications, stop manual therapy, avoid joint replacement surgeries, and complete personal fitness challenges that previously seemed impossible. A professional ice hockey client told me that, compared with other training approaches, MELT Performance techniques have made a noticeable difference in his power and stamina. For those of us who crave the “what, why and how” of each technique, you will not be disappointed. Sue Hitzmann has done a masterful job explaining the science and making complex models of neurological stability understandable. Read this book and you will have more than a handful of “ah-ha” moments!

Review: I really appreciate Sue’s dedication to simplify the heavy topics and generously share her wisdom with us.There is so much information in this book. I am still reading over and over again. The moves are very simple and you may want to do it right away. So you may feel like skipping the first several chapters, but please read everything. Once you understand the WHY, you will be amazed by the result with such a simple move. You are learning something new, so be patient. ;)I have loose ligaments so my body is compensating all the time but I learned MELT Performance (NeuroStrength) just in time to stay active without pain! I am 59 years old. Nothing can reverse the aging process but I can do the things I could not do 10 years ago!I agree that MELT Performance is a Game Changer!
