A quick rundown of this product’s key features:

From celebrated New York Times bestselling author Steve Berry comes the latest installment in his wildly popular Cotton Malone series—now in development as a streaming series. The Medici Return takes Cotton to Italy to solve a five hundred year-old mystery.

Cotton Malone is on the hunt for a forgotten 16th century Pledge of Christ—a sworn promise made by Pope Julius II that evidences a monetary debt owed by the Vatican, still valid after five centuries—now worth in the trillions of dollars.  But collecting that debt centers around what happened to the famed Medici of Florence—a family that history says died out, without heirs, centuries ago.

Who will become the next prime minister of Italy, and who will be the next pope? Finding answers proves difficult until Cotton realizes that everything hinges on when, and if, the Medici return.

Title: Interesting as usual, but this time…
Review: As usual, Cotton triumphs over evil! Interesting story until we reach that chapter where the Italian lady selects Cotton to ride in the Palio!!! So unbelievable that I also stopped reading. The episode is well written and interesting, but totally unbelievable, specially when Cotton jumps off one horse onto the back of another horse in mid race! Give us a break…who wrote this section, AI? But, after getting through that episode the story continues and is enjoyable. But, Steve, even you–later in the book–make a comment about how unbelievable that narrative is, like you’re kind of apologizing.

Title: An Entertaining and Exciting way to learn about Italian History , Traditions and Culture.
Review: Another brilliant page turner from Steve Berry! The Medici Return masterfully blends history, suspense, and action in a way that’s both educational and incredibly entertaining.I was drawn in by the vivid depictions of Italian culture and tradition from the thrilling Palio di Siena to the brutal and fascinating Calcio Storico in Florence.Berry’s impressive attention to historical detail made these moments come alive, and I found myself researching events and places as I read, just to learn more. Especially about the Entity I was amazed to learn about this organization. The history of the Medici adds a rich, mysterious layer to the plot, and Berry’s storytelling makes it all feel effortlessly modern. I appreciated how the book sparked my curiosity and made me feel like I was traveling through Italy without leaving my chair. I’m now even more excited for my next trip to Italy visiting some of the sites described in the book has officially made it onto my itinerary.Highly recommended for fans of historical fiction, fast-paced thrillers, or anyone wanting to learn more about Italy and the Medici!

Title: Berry strikes again.
Review: One can tell the author had a whole lot of fun writing this. I’ve read everything Mr. Berry has published and this ranks pretty high. The plot, while kind of complicated (and the characters go either by their surname, first name, or title which can be distracting); however, the reader will soon sort that out. The teaser at the end is meaningful and promises to ensure Cotton will continue his journey (but will Ms. Vitt be along for the ride, who knows).

Title: Could have been 100 pages less
Review: Great premise, a monetary promise from the Pope to a family that has died out, but has it? Great historical research, but as another reviewer said too many names to keep track of and the story could have been told with at least 100 pages or more less, I skipped many pages and still understood the plot. It didn’t get good and understandable the last few chapters.

Title: Very good, unexpected ending
Review: This book is really good! The characters and setting are just as good as usual. I won’t bore you with a plot summary as I know other reviewers are fond of doing that. I must say, however, that most people won’t likely guess the ending unless you know a lot about history in Italy for the last 800 years or so. If you liked the previous books in the series, I say you should give this one a shot because I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Have at it. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Title: Not up to Berry’s usual standards
Review: I always look forward to a new Cotton Malone novel by Berry – however, this one just could not capture my interest the way most of his novels capture it.He kept jumping back and forth between actors and locations – and the only key to where/who was in that chapter was in the first sentence he used the first name of the actor, like “Cotton.” The plot was OK, not great – but OK.The proof reading was not as good as I would expect – I mean the writer and proof reader are supposedly knowledgeable, as are the characters about whom they are writing. On page 63, the author writes “He’d needed to get here quick.” Come on – – it should be “quickly” – not “quick” – it’s an adverb modifying the verb “get”. Then on page 280, there is the declarative sentence “We need to find Malone?” Maybe an exclamation point, probably a period, but no way that sentence should end with a question mark. Then on page 374, the author writes “He’d not called ahead or made an appointment.” It is a negative sentence – following the word “not” – therefore “nor” should have been used not “or”. Come on Mr. Berry – simple English rules. Then on page 393, the author has Stephanie, a lawyer and head of a US government agency say “You did good, I appreciate it all, Cotton.” Are we to believe that an educated woman would actually say “You did good” instead of “You did well” – I think not! She is not some advertising hack writing an old Winston cigarette commercial, who thinks they can get away with ignoring good grammar. So, other than a barely acceptable plot, and proof reading, errors, how did I like the book? I would say, if you are into the series, as I am, you have to read it to keep up with overall story line, but you don’t have to like it.
