Title: Great book for the home winemaker
Review: The projects in this book are well laid out with plenty of detail. Some projects are more detailed than others. Steve uses a wine bottle scale at the top of the page to indicate level of skill needed for each project. One bottle being beginner level and 4 bottles being advanced. I feel confident that I could do a lot of the projects and some my husband would have to help me with. I especially appreciate the amount of ingenuity that went into documenting these projects. I’m looking forward to building the chilled wine storage closet, automatic bottle filler, wine racks and maybe even some of the furniture made from recycled wine barrels. The book also contains lots of helpful winemaking knowledge. Thanks Steve for a great book!

Title: Do it yourself winery! Great tips!
Review: The book is an excellent guide, well illustrated for those who wish to make some equipment themselves. Most projects are easily done by anybody who can handle basic tools and has some imagination. I liked the part about a layout for storage of bottles very much, it is easily adaptable to one’s own room and has all essential measures! Even if it provides you with one new idea it’s worth every dollar! Much recommended to every starter in making wines who doesn’t want to invest in expensive equipment but make some him/herself!

Title: AWESOME BOOK!!!
Review: If you are a woodworker, even a beginning woodworker, and a winemaker… this is a terrific book.I have made several projects and they only require basic skills and tools. I always have a need to improvise, refine and/or improve on a design. I combined degassing, transferring, filtering and bottling into a sign contraption based on several designs I combined in this book. I filter down to one micro if I want to. It has a triple filter system including 5 microns to one micro plus an active charcoal filtration module. These can be added, removed or modified to my needs at the spin of a bottle. I can process ten gallons of wine in literally a few minutes with no messy clean up, completely degassed and filtered, ready for bulk aging or bottling or the turn of a inline valve. The machine I built could do hundreds of gallons. When I am done it fits easily into a box the size of a bankers file box from Office Depot. A commercial machine or machines would have cost me several thousand dollars. I did it for a couple of hundred. All because of their simple designs and their inspiration.Their detail and illustrations are great!

Title: Must read for all home winemakers!
Review: This book is filled with projects that you can build much more inexpensively than buying, and if that weren’t good enough it is also filled with information to make your wine better, your experience making it easier, and things you never thought of trying. I found myself learning things I didn’t know about making wine after years of experience. This is a must read for anyone starting out or with great experience in winemaking.

Title: Read this book before you get started in the wine business
Review: This book is a wealth of knowledge. When I was looking at partnering with someone to open a winery this is one of the books I grabbed. It was the most detailed and beneficial book I read. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to open a winery and receive real honest information.

Title: Save you thousands
Review: I love this book. It has a very positive, DIY attitude. I’m actually constructing several of these projects to help handle the production from my few dozen vines in the backyard. I invented and built a press already using threaded rod, but there is plenty more to work with here. I’m very excited about the crusher and destemmer. Clear writing, good illustrations and dimensions. Very well conceived and executed book.

Title: Pro-sumer homemade equipment
Review: This book will help educate the beginning (or mid-level) winemaker by guiding the building of good quality equipment and providing some rationale for it as well. The tools you use partly define how you make wine and can get in the way. This writer has been there, and will improve your wine making (and mine) .Very good job, well printed and already thumb tagged and dirty in my shop. That should say it all.

Review: The title says it all; the Homebuilt Winery is a practical book for the home winemaker. A series of projects takes you from establishing the vineyard to relaxing in your bottle room with a glass of your product. The projects include a crusher-destemmer, a press and tools for fermenting, aging and bottling wine. There is even a design for a chair made from a retired barrel. It is written for the North American winemaker but the designs are adaptable to other regions as well. But watch those quaint old “Imperial” measurements!I am not sure that the Kindle version is the most appropriate to the practical constructor.I am happy to recommend this book and am looking forward to constructing the first project.
