Title: Isle of cats expansion
Review: This is another great add on to the amazing Ilse of cats game. If you play often or with people, this pack give you kittens, added challenges and beast pieces which add a new level of difficulty. This pack is a great add on if you are already a master at Isle of cats.

Title: Thoughts on this expansion
Review: Love the beasts. Great pictures/tiles and good ways to add points to your overall score. I have yet to have sufficient fish during the first round of the game to catch 2 beasts.Kittens – I like the kittens a lot, though we changed the rules to be whomever is first in a round of course gets first shot at the kittens, but if they pass, anybody after them can catch one or two kittens. Also changed the rules such that, like the adult cats, they are not refreshed until the next round. This works great with two players (which is how my household generally plays this). I think it would work for a 3 person game, unless the same person always wound up going first (so third player never got a shot at the kittens). It might wind up unfair in a 4+ person game. Biggest advantage of the kittens, other than being able to get 2 in one basket, is that they make families so much faster. We wound up pulling kittens using a die cast because it’s so amazingly easy to figure out the shape of any given kitten by quick touch. So 1 or 4 = 1 square kitten; 2 or 5 = 2 square kitten; 3 or 6 = 3 square kitten. This also helps ensure you wind up with some one-kitten squares, because they tend to fall to the bottom of the bag. Downside – you get fewer big cats when you buy kittens, so you’ll cover less space (rooms) on your boat.Rats/Event tiles – these mix up the game and are fun enough to play. They add a wild-card element since you don’t know what the event tile will say when you turn it over- some players may see a serious windfall of points, while others see nothing. I do like the temporary boots or basket tokens – they change the dynamics and value of paying for a second/third basket, or paying for baskets/boots each round. In our two-player household, we used the rats/event tiles 1-2 times to figure out how they worked, then haven’t used them since. I think they might be more entertaining in a game with more players, or for those who really like to add additional elements of chance to their games.Overall a strong addition to the core Isle of Cats and one I’d recommend if you enjoy the game.

Review: Esta expansión está compuesta por tres módulos de distinta dificultad y se puede jugar sólo uno o complicar más el juego combinando los tres. Me gusta el de los gatitos porque soluciona el asunto de usar botas para ganara el primer turno. En el juego normal eso no era tan importante y ahora claro que quieres ganar para tene gatitos.Lo único malo de esta y las demás expansiones es que son un poquillo caras.
