Title: Great classics I return to again and again!
Review: Many of the recipes in this book have turned into my go-tos for classics. The sheet pan roasted chicken with vegetables is my family’s favorite. The fruit salads have wonderful twists to elevate them. Chicken and rice is delicious. The enchiladas are amazing! And most recipes are similar to Test Kitchen in that they have smart work arounds that enhance flavor or make things easier.

Title: Beautiful with practical recipes!
Review: This is a beautiful cookbook…beautiful photos and absolutely lovely and practical recipes that I am looking forward to making. One thing I cannot figure out, though, is “meatloaf mix.” I want to make the “Pasta with Classic Bolognese” and it calls for 12 ounces of “meatloaf mix.” I have never heard of this and there is nothing I can find in the cookbook that says what it is. I am sure I will get it figured out, but it is a bit frustrating. I don’t want this to take away from the cookbook though, it is gorgeous and I wouldn’t hesitate to give it as a gift.

Title: Binding binding
Review: I love both Bridget and Julia, and I think they are both GREAT cooks. The recipes in this new collection of their favorites look like they will be relatively easy to make and delicious to eat. That being said, I think this book should have a spiral bound book so it lays flat for ease of use. The current binding is stiff and even using two hands, it is impossible to get it to lay flat or close to flat. Other than the binding, the book deserves the full five stars I gave it.

Title: Super heavy!
Review: Absolutely great collection of recipes, but the book weighs a ton! They should have split it into three volumes!

Title: Loaded with recipes which appear to be easy to prepare
Review: Loved the cookbook so much that I purchased a second one. Was a little upset to later found the Hardcovers at Costco for just a few dollars more; I I wanted to return the paperbacks to Amazon but their return policy on books is awful, they wanted to charge me about as much as I paid for the book for return shipping! In any case, I believe we will have fun with these recipes which appear to be quite “normal”, will no off the wall ingredients necessary.

Title: Introducing your new weeknight bible!
Review: I’ve always enjoyed watching the witty banter of these two ladies with the quirky Christopher Kimball on ATK and appreciated the “no-fail” researched recipes as a result of their hard work. I love to cook and bake but have a limited amount of time to shop and spend time in the kitchen. I need reliable recipes that will be worth the time. It’s easy to get caught up in blogs, personalities, and the latest cookbook, but sometimes you just need a simple and tasty collection of recipes that will get you and your family through the week. I’ve done the taco recipe twice, the pesto meatball recipe once, and the pumpkin bread recipe once with much success. There are a TON of ATK books out there along with a MYRIAD of Cook’s Illustrated monthly/seasonal periodicals, so it’s easy to get overwhelmed. Stick with the hand-picked recipes of this book and you will be delighted.Suggestion: Retitle the book to “Old Ironsides”Thank you Bridget and Julia!
