A quick rundown of this product’s key features:

WORD PLAY: How do you like your words? Over Easy of course! The letter cubes are shaped like little eggs – thus the “play on words.” It’s an “egg-citing” way to “scramble” for words!
THE PLAY: Drop the egg dice into the egg sorter. Some will fall into the good side and some will fall into the rotten side. You must use ALL the letters in the good side to form words – but you can’t use any letters in the rotten side.
THE CHALLENGE: Quick – you’ve got 1 minute to come up with as many words as you can. However, if your opponents have the same words none of you will score for those words! Be unique to score!
SCORING: Any valid word up to 6 letters scores 1 point. More than 6 letters scores 2 points. The first player to 20 wins!
SUPER FAST PLAY: Since each round is only 1 minute, Words Over Easy is a perfect way for busy families to spend quality time together.

Title: Great Fun for Word Game Fans; Excellent for Family Game Night
Review: I selected this game with family game night in mind. I like word games like Boggle, Scrabble, and Words with Friends so I was especially interested in this game, which combines ideas from several games. This is a fun game and it has proved to be a little more challenging than it first appears. At it’s heart this game is most similar to Boggle. You have six 4-faced plastic eggs and a sorter in which you dump them. The sorter separates them into two random groups – good eggs and bad (“rotten”) eggs. Players form words using the letters in the good group but cannot use letters in the bad group. Players are not limited to the letters in the good group, but all must be used for each word.As an example, in the product listing the main image shows “P”, “T” and “E” in the good group and “W”, “L” and “K” in the bad group. An acceptable word, then, could be “TAPESTRY” because it uses all of the good letters and none of the bad letters. Likewise, “PETAL” doesn’t work because the letter L cannot be used. Neither is “OPTIONS” a good word as it does not use the required E.Points are awarded on word length – under 7 letters is 1 point, 7 or more is 2 points. We found that the 1 minute time limit is a bit restrictive. We found that it is more enjoyable to have 2-3 minutes instead and have opted to use a kitchen timer instead of the included timer. Also, we have found that a handicap is useful when playing with quicker players possessing a wider vocabulary. One thing that isn’t clear in the rules is what to do when the sorter does not sort the eggs in equal numbers. We occasionally have 2 eggs in one group and 4 in the other. This isn’t really an issue, but it can be confusing when it isn’t expected and the rules don’t mention this possibility.Adding the subject cards makes this game a lot harder – especially when using a one-minute timer. The cards are general topics, but they’re specific enough (such as “Items in the kitchen”) to make things rough when trying to think under the pressure of a time limit. The game is designed for 2-4 players, but I am perfectly content playing on my own. I love word games and for me it is interesting enough to come up with as many words as possible without competing with others and without using the timer.Overall, this is a fun game! I probably like it more than the rest of the family, but we’re all enjoying it and it gives us more to do on a family game night when we want an easy-to-understand and fast-paced game. The rules could use a bit more elaboration on a couple of things, and some variations on play would be good, but overall we’re very pleased and I’m happy to recommend this one to anyone who is a word game fan.

Title: Challenging word game – like Boggle with a twist
Review: This word game reminds me a little of Boggle, but I found it much harder. It comes with 6 egg-shaped letter blocks that are then sorted into 3 “Good” eggs and 3 “Rotten” eggs. Players have one minute to make as many words as possible that use all three of the letters on the good eggs, along with any other letters EXCEPT for the three on the rotten eggs. For example: If good eggs are: B, E, L and rotten eggs are: A, F, G then eligible words would be BELT, BLUE, and BLURRIEST since those words use all three of the good egs, but none of the bad. The word ABLE would not count since it uses the A from the rotten eggs. The word BEEN would also be ineligible since it only uses two out of the three good letters.I am usually pretty good at word games and found it hard to think of a significant amount of words in just one minute, even without taking the unusable letters into account. Two minutes worked better. (We just turned the timer over an additional time when time ran out.) If playing with people of different ages/skills, you could give younger players more time or allow them to use one of the “rotten” eggs in their words. There are optional challenge cards that can be used that list a category such as “Items of clothing”. In my example above, the word BELT would be eligible for bonus points since it fits that category. We found it hard coming up with more than one word that fit the bonus category and sometimes couldn’t think of any. It’s meant for two to four players, but I think more could play without any problems. It may take longer to get a winner, though, since words that more than one player have on their list don’t count for points. I also played the game by myself several times just to see how many words I could find and I enjoyed it.

Title: Educational
Review: I liked Words Over Easy.I like when my kids play games because it so much better than staring at a screen. This was a very fun game for my kids. They really enjoyed it. It kept their interest. I really like that it gets them playing with others. It is great for them to play with each other or with us. We like to have family game nights. This game wasn’t too hard for them to learn. The quality was very good. It held together fine. I really think it’s a lot of fun for them. I also like to give games as gifts. I would recommend this one.

Title: Surprisingly challenging
Review: I like word games of all kinds. This one is no exception. Play is simple: put the “eggs” into the chute and make words that include the letters that land in the green tray while excluding the letters that fall into the red one. You get points for every unique and legal work you make. Simple doesn’t mean easy, though, and a few rounds trying to make words that exclude multiple vowels proved the point. Cards are included to make the game more challenging. To use these, include words that fit the theme on the card and get extra points for each legal and unique word. One major glitch with this game is that you are supposed to time each round with the (totally silent) egg timer included, but it is impossible to concentrate on creating words while watching a timer to see when it runs out. We solved this problem by substituting another timer we had that rings when time is up, but it’s hard to understand why a timer like this wasn’t included. Another glitch is that although you need to record your words and keep score, no forms are included; finding the paper and pens is on you. I never thought I’d see a game that makes Yahtzee look deluxe, but this one manages to do just that.I liked this game, but I suspect most 8-year-olds would be easily frustrated by what can be formidable lists of letters that can’t be used. Extending the time per round and reducing the number of letters might help, but this wouldn’t be my first choice for a family game night that included young children.
