Title: Great product. Easy to use and germinates in the time described.
Review: We moved recently, and the house we moved into had a lawn that needed some work. A portion of the berm and the front yard was dirt, populated by crab grass and clover, and some spots I would mow over would produce big dust clouds. Not enough bald patches to justify getting sod (in my opinion), but too much where simply seeding would likely attract birds and/or create more work (putting down hay, netting, etc.). Like many of you, I work full time, have a family, and simply don’t have the time to do all of that and, given weather patterns, can’t rely on the weekend to take care of it. I have better things to do.Looking at the product description, it has a mix of Kentucky bluegrass, fescue, and rye, a great mix of both fast growing and hardy seeds perfect for Zone 6 regions, and also contains fertilizer and recycled mulch. I started filling in patchy spots in April (it is July as I write this), but rather than doing every spot that needed to be filled in, I decided to work in sections. Given how the temperatures have been fluctuating so much (NASA actually just reported that June 2023 was the hottest June on record) and I wasn’t certain how much rain we would be getting, I didn’t want to do a huge section and waste gallons of water on it to get it to germinate, only to have it expire from the heat (despite what the following may suggest, I almost never water the grass. I have no problem letting it go dormant in the summer heat. The key to it surviving/thriving is not to cut it too short. Do that and save yourself some money).Anyway, this is what I did:1. Beginning in the morning and using a hand cultivator, I loosened the soil where I wanted to plant, removing any weeds and crabgrass that might compete for the fertilizer and water, going about 1-2″ deep.2. Using a trowel, I scooped the mix in every area I prepped.3. Using the hand cultivator turned upside down, I gently went over the top where I put the patch mix to encourage the seeds, mulch, and fertilizer to go into the soil and spread out.4. I gave it a heavy dose of water (“shower” setting on the nozzle) to completely soak the the area for about 15-30 seconds.5. I did this again in the early evening, watering twice a day for a week (unless we had rain).6. As advertised, the seeds germinated in a week, after which I watered once a day in the morning until the grass matured and could survive without it (about 2 weeks after germinating) and I could give it a haircut. On cooler days I would skip a day.Seeing the results, I’m certain I could have seeded every large area at once and been done by now (I’m still doing areas, I don’t begin a new area until the other area I’ve done is mature enough to not need so much attention. I’m only doing about 1-2sqft at a time, but I’m not in a rush and would rather make sure everything is done right. The grasses I seeded in April look healthy, strong, and have been mowed/mulched several times, without any ill effects (I currently have the mower deck at 2-3/4″). The small patches in the grass itself that I’ve done are completely indistinguishable from the rest of the lawn. This is a great product and works exactly as advertised. At $20-$26/10lb. bag, it’s a decent price and I would recommend it.

Title: Worked well in most areas
Review: I would like to start by saying that I have an elderly female dog coup just wants to leave the patio and pee as close as possible so she can go back in the house. Needless to say she is wreaking havoc in that area. I worked up the soil and added lime because I understand that that will help sweeten the soil and help grass to grow. However, it is very slow going and we have to coax her to go further so as not to pee in the same spot. This was complicated in Pennsylvania because there was no snow this year to even partially protect the grass from her urine. In other spots non urine damage related it worked extremely well and field in quickly.

Title: Good Mix of Seed – Used in Southern Ohio
Review: I had some patches I wanted to fill in this spring. My front yard is extremely sunny and the back of the house is very shady. I purchased this product as I liked the mix of grass seed types to adapt to sun and shade. Other products tend to include zoysia which can be rather aggressive overtaking other grasses and will be more dormant than other grasses typically used for Ohio (KBG and Ryegrass). This patch product did well in both the sunny and shady area. The bag and shipping makes the mulch a bit compacted so I highly recommend trying to fluff it prior to spreading. I also highly recommend shaking or mixing the bag as best as possible as I noticed the seeds tended to settle toward the bottom half of the bag.

Title: So disappointing & grass worse then when I started!!
Review: I buy a bag of this every year & it’s always amazing. I typically get it from my local hardware store however, this year I bought off Amazon. I layed the seed and watered per the directions. Within a week all the spots were covered in mushrooms. Not having dealt with this before I decided to mow my lawn, which only made the problem worse. When you cut mushrooms theor spores spread so within a few days there were mushrooms spreading all around the spots in my yard. Unfortunately, I have a puppy who eats everything so I had to take a drastic move and try and kill these mushrooms which also killed my grass. Just a word of advice if you end up getting mushrooms from this seed like I did DO NOT MOW THEM try and pull them out by the stem and throw them away. Will never purchase this again from Amazon.

Title: Wasn’t Impressed
Review: I use straight seed for patching bald spots ever year and thought I’d give this a try. Did not work well for me at all. Went by the directions and very little seed popped so not much grass grew. Would not recommend.

Title: Works good
Review: I was skeptical buying this reading the reviews. There appeared to be more paper mulch than seed/fertilizer in the bag when I planted it. However, this worked great on a few bare spots I had on my lawn. It took a while for it to grow in but grew in beautiful! Pleasantly surprised!

Review: Love this seed _ comes in its own medium – no having to lightly cover with dirt and is growing in a shady patch where heretofore would never take hold. It’s going to be lush and green. Highly recommend.
