Title: Works well, but caution if using as-is with stereo headphones
Review: I purchased this to use with my Kenwood TH-D74 so that I could use stereo headphones to listen to my radio. I did not get it to use a headset with mic. It works for this, but BE AWARE: it is wired to use a four conductor headset. If you simply plug stereo headphones into it, it will short the transmit line and put the radio into transmit. If I plug in iPhone headphones (which include a mic), it works fine; I get good audio out of both ears and no transmit issue. I believe that this can be remedied if you get a CTIA to OMTP adapter so that the PTT line is not shorted out. I have one of those adapters on order to try right now. All in all, it does what it says. I bought it for a slightly different purpose than intended, so I’m not upset.EDIT: That adapter did not work. Your best choice to use it like I wanted to is to buy a headset splitter adapter (splits into mic and headphone separately) or make your own adapter. Again, not a knock on the adapter as its not meant to do this, but thought some others might want to know!

Title: Crap
Review: Description says that it works for Kenwood radios. And it does…in the sense that you can plug it into one. But it causes the radio to consistently transmit…rather than requiring you to push the transmit button. So it’s completely unusable considering the whole reason for wearing headsets at my work is that it’s an extremely loud environment. This thing is garbage and I’m extremely disappointed.

Title: Works well for non-threaded accessories
Review: This will fit Kenwood 2-pin mic connectors, BaoFeng, & Retevis radios, but will not fit Motorola radios. Motorola, as always, designs their radios so that accessories are proprietary. This is a well-made adapter that works well for non-threaded accessories. Professional threaded accessories such as covert ear mics will not work with this because the threaded plugs will not fully seat into the adapter’s 3.5mm receptacle. Retevis tells me that they are working on producing a threaded version that I look forward to.

Title: Works great for a while.
Review: I’m wired with walkie-talkie in a retail environment. Since the walkie-talkie headsets my employer has fall off my head, this product is exactly what I need. My problem is the wire in this product seems to break very quickly. After only a few shifts. I have taken to taping the wire onto the walkie to keep it from flexing at the male end, as you can see in the photos. So far so good, but you’ll notice you can buy these adapters in five-packs, and if you buy a five-pack, you just might thank yourself in a few weeks.Other things you need to know:The volume of your earbuds may be lower than you’re used to. I have to turn the volume way up. No one has any trouble hearing me when I talk, though. And, you have to use the talk button on the walkie. Pushing the talk button on your earbuds switches on transmit and leaves it on. You have to shut off the walkie and turn it back on to clear that.Other reviewers have panned the product for turning on transmit mode inadvertently with Kenwood walkies. Remember you’re hacking products from different manufacturers who never promised cross functionality. They should plug their 3.5mm earbuds into the Retrovis product first, and then into the walkie. Any time the transmit function turns on by accident, again, power off and restart.

Title: Works great but there is one caveat!
Review: First off, the Retevis adapter works great and as designed! You can plug this into a K1 radio plug and then use standard 3.5mm earbuds to both listen and talk. There are a few caveats though which are easily overcome.1) YOU MUST CHOOSE THE PROPER SET OF EARBUDS! Because some earbuds, such as Ulix Rider, can create an open-mic situation if you plug it into the radio while the radio is turned “on”. If you plug it into the radio while it is turned “off” then there is no issue. So as long as you choose the proper earbuds or otherwise avoid plugging it in with the radio turned “on’; then there should be no issue. I am using it with a Midland BR200 two way radio which has the K1 two prong plug.2) You must use the radios PTT button and then speak into the earbuds in-line microphone. The earbud in-line PTT button does not activate the radio. This is no biggie, IMO.

Review: The cables are amazing. They allow you to use your personal headphones (w/mic) on the Retevis radio. This allows you to use more comfortable earpieces with better sound quality (and noise reducing/cancelling headphones for louder environments like clubs). I bought one as a test unit, and the rest of the security staff and the owners of the club liked it so much we purchased several more.We have used them with Samsung headphones, iPhone headphones, and multiple aftermarket headphones.

Title: Not made to last
Review: This product lasted around 51 clinical eight hours shift before breaking down so you won’t get much mileage out of this thing. The construction of the device looks okay at a glance but after some usage you will see how poorly constructed it is.If you look at the photo you can see that nothing is keeping the cable sheathing in place so once it slides out it’s only a matter of time before one of the wires breaks. All they had to do to secure it all together is to sand the ends of the cable lightly and the interior component then apply a epoxy resin to bond it all together but I guess they couldn’t be bothered to do that…
