Title: Decent but unrefined
Review: This case is decent. It fits the phone well, it holds together pretty well, and the color scheme is pretty nice. For the prise, it isn’t bad. But for an older phone like the Pixel 4a 5g, you can get a fancy name brand case for about the same amount. I got this to replace a fancy name brand case that finally cracked. This is a much slipperier case with a smooth plastic back – no texture apart from some scuffs from regular use. The rubber lining is thin too except for in the corners. I don’t really want to drop my phone to see how well it works but it is less inspiring than I’d like. The case isn’t too thick but it isn’t what I’d call thin either despite what the packaging claims. And the snap together design lends itself to creaks and small cracking noises during regular use. Again, not bad but not confidence inspiring.If you wanted to save a buck on a case for a newer phone, I would say this is a good choice. But for an older phone, I’d opt for the name brand case on clearance over this one any day.

Title: Heavy duty 3 piece Pixel 4a 5G case
Review: This 3 piece case for the Pixel 4a 5G offers a lot of protection and a bit more rigidity from the plastic outer casing. This case also adds a decent amount of bulk, even compared to the 1 piece case I was using before. The softer silicone “middle” layer has some raised corners that helps to cut down on the potential to slide across a smooth surface and the corners/short top and bottom sides are built up with the silicone rubber material as padding. The plastic halves contribute a bit of structure, but the snap mechanism can open during a fall and help dissipate energy. I’ve been using the case for a few weeks now and it works pretty well, but does feel a bit more bulky compared to other 1 piece cases. The headphone cutout is kind of small and recessed about 1/4″ in which creates a problem for my favorite pair of headphones that have a non-small plug. The USB C connector’s cutout is slightly larger but might also present problems with some cables or docks. I do wish the long side edges were a bit more textured to prevent slipping in my hand though, so I’m knocking off a star for that.
