Title: 2005 4 runner champ!
Review: Easy to install and performs well in my 2005 4 runner v-6. Fits very well and sounds good. One installation tip: several internet videos show how to install the subwoofer of a generation four (includes the 2005) 4 runner. The videos instruct the installer to dismantle MUCH of the trim on the floor, interior sidewall, and even the right rear seatbelt. Many screws, panels, yanking and pulling! One video suggests a much easier way to swap out the rear sidewallsubwoofer. I tried it, and it works like a CHARM! No screws, panels, carpet, or seatbelt to deal with. You simply cut out the grooved perimeter of the integral sidewall screen that guards the surface of the original subwoofer. Use a sharp, heavy duty utility knife and carefully work your knife around the outer groove of the screen. Take your time and don’t slip with the knife. With a few passes the entire screen will drop out of the rear sidewall. Trim up any ragged edges. The entire subwoofer can then be accessed easily. It will be staring you in the face.Carefully pull apart and unscrew the trim on the original subwoofer. Eventually, you will expose the six or so screws that hold the subwoofer in place. Unscrew the unit from its anchor points , pull it out gently and then disconnect the electrical connections. Note that the connections of the old subwoofer will not fit the unit I bought in this review. Most likely you will snip off the plastic fittings of the vehicle wiring, expose some bare wire and then connect the bare wire from the vehicle to the quick-connect fittings on the new subwoofer. Most likely you will have to drill a few new screw holes in the ring surrounding the new subwoofer to get a secure mount. This is easy to do.Connect all of the color coded wires in the correct terminals (See multiple videos on this; again, easy). Test to know if the subwoofer produces sound from your stereo.Once the unit is wired connected and screwed in place place a bead of clear silicone on the edge of the panel screen that you cut out and replace the screen in the sidewall. I let mine cure for 24 hours. If you’re a neat worker no one will ever notice (except for maybe your dog) that the screen had been cut.A fast worker can replace the subwoofer in probably 45 minutes of easy work. It took me about 1.5 hours, because I’m slow.Don’t be afraid to cut that screen panel. I learned this technique from a guy who posted his how-to video on the internet. His is a great solution to an otherwise significant PIA.

Title: Excellent for the price
Review: For the price I doubt you can even match this sub. It’s not a sound quality sub. I’d used used JL audio, Sony, MTX, Polk, Audiobahn, and now MB Quart which used to be amazing in the 90’s. This sub isn’t “musical” not very tight, but that can definitely be at least partially my factory amp (2019 Golf R) causing that. With the recommended .65 cu ft box the sub favors 60-80Hz and basically falls on its face below 50Hz. I put it in a box I have that’s .81 cu ft and it sounds considerably better, peaking at around 35Hz. I’m out of wood, but I’d imagine .75 cu ft with some polyfill would be great. It fits in a 4” tall box built from 3/4” MDF. It’s the only 10” subwoofer that I could find that was less than 3” mounting depth. If you have a Golf R without a spare tire do yourself a huge favor and get one of these. Even though it’s dual 4 ohm coils rather than 2 ohm coils the amp runs it great. I’ve lost zero usable space and have bass down to about 25hz now.

Title: Direct fit
Review: This was a direct fit replacement for my 01 Suburban. I have the upgraded sound system with extra tweeters and a sub, but not the Bose system. This dropped in with no modifications and sounds way better than the 20+ year old factory sub.

Title: Awesome replacement sub woofer
Review: This thing sounds way better than the factory sub. I’m running it at 4ohms from the factory jbl amp in my 08 tundra and it sounds great! That being said, it’s nowhere near the bass from a stand alone system, but it is plug and play and sounds really good.

Title: Sounds great and stands up to PNW outdoor environments
Review: I mounted a custom depth sealed box in a soffit rafter bay and have had this 10″ MB Quart exposed to the exterior (albeit sheltered overhang) for over 6 years. I just pulled it off to prep for painting and it is still like new. Love MB Quart quality. Can’t wait to get it back in for the patio sound system.

Title: Great woofer
Review: Relatively easy to install on 2005 4runner. There’s a video on YouTube that shows how to strip the cars wires to fit this woofer. There are a few ways to get the old speaker out. If you want absolutely no damage to the panel then complete disassembly is the way to go. Another way is to cut into the mesh covering with a sturdy utility knife but it won’t be pretty. The top and bottom screws are also hard to get to with powers tools due to the small window. I also found out that the panel does pry off with tabs from the main car. I needed a crow bar for that although one YouTube video a guy used a large sized flat head screwdriver.I can’t really comment on the quality of this speaker /subwoofer compared to others but it sounds similar to oem. Music sounds good and that old speaker rattle/noise is gone. Overall good purchase.

Review: Very slim installation depth. Sounds great considering it’s very cheap. The “discus” trim ring is pain to remove and install. Would buy again.

Review: EDIT: it’s July 2022 and I’m STILL loving this sub. Absolutely recommend it to anyone. I play a lot of dance music and I play it loud in my X5. Only because the system I have in (JL C2-600 and Memphis mid range, factory DSP amp) can handle it well. I don’t even know if the sub enclosure I made is proper dimensions but I did put a decent bit of polyfibre inside to mimic a larger enclosure. Either way I have NO doubt how well this sub just pounds in my SUV. Just incredibly happy with result.Original:I’ve run external sub enclosures with high power 10* and 12″ (Premiere Comp, Rockford Fosgate, JL) subs for past 25 years. They are amazing. Whats NOT amazing is loosing a lot of trunk space. My SUV has factory Sub enclosure hidden away but has two 6″ DVC subs that were either underpowered from the factory amp, or just garbage. I gutted the enclosure and modified it to take a single 10″ shallow mount, knowing full well I’d never get the same sound as a larger external sub enclosure in a trunk BUT I now have the convenience of a sub hidden away. After I installed and adjusted audio settings on amp and factory head unit, yes it sounds a LITTLE less impressive than the subs and sub enclosures I’ve run in the past but the impression is it sounds about 90% as good, but is a cleaner sub so my music actually sounds cleaner and fuller instead of just bassier. But most importantly, the sub and enclosure are now out of trunk, So extremely worth this purchase.

Review: Was a little hesitant on buying this sub. Usually you get what you pay for. I have had many subs in the past all big name brands and this is almost comparable. Built a box just under 1 cubic foot so a little small but the sub hits hard. Remember to break the sub in..med volume and bass set low for the first week or so. I now have everything turned up and its sounding better and better each day. Overall very happy with the purchase would def buy another.
