Review: These anise drops are perfect for the licorice lover who must avoid licorice root extract for health reasons. The drop size allows you to savor the flavor without consuming too many calories or too much sugar. As a die-hard licorice fan since childhood, I keep these anise drops in a sealed glass jar on my desk for a little sweet treat when the day has gone sour.

Title: Ginger flavor a bit uneven
Review: I’m a long time fan Claey’s Olde Fashioned candy. Classically, the root beer, horehound, sassafras were my favorites. These days, I often suffer from sour stomach. These offer a lot of relief. I’ve purchased a few bags lately, from different sources. Some pieces have more ginger flavor than others. It would be nice if the recipe could be made a little more consistent. Overall, I’m really very grateful for these, however.

Title: Tastes Very Old – Would Not Recommend – These Candies Are Not Hard
Review: As someone who loves Claeys candy drops, these fall far short of the regular-sized bag. Unfortunately, this bag does not live up to the Claeys’ name. These candies taste old and are no longer hard candy; they’re hard candy that’s soft. These are pretty old and do not live up to the name or the quality expectations of this brand.I tried requesting a refund through Amazon, but I was told it was not an option. I do not recommend purchasing these candies from this seller. 2 lbs of waste now.

Title: Interesting Anise Flavor- Not my favorite..
Review: I like hard candy, and finding other than the standard butterscotch disks or starlight mints can be difficult at times. I wanted to create a mixed assortment of flavors that was similar to spice Gum Drops, so I bought 7 flavors of the Claey’s candies. Here are my opinions on each flavor:• Licorice- This is okay, but I consider myself a Licorice “Connoisseur” and the flavor isn’t deep enough for my liking. If I were interested in licorice flavor alone, I’d buy another brand, even if it wasn’t a hard candy.• Clove- This is AMAZING, and I would definitely buy it again. The flavor is very distinct and is “spot-on” to what I think Cloves taste and smell like.• Anise- Sometimes substituted for Licorice, it’s interesting to compare and contrast this against the actual Licorice flavor. This didn’t taste all that interesting to me, and seemed even less flavorful than the Licorice. I won’t buy it again. Although it doesn’t seem to add much to my spice assortment, it doesn’t distract from it either.• Peppermint- Although it’s easy to find peppermint hard candy, this one is really good, and complements my “spice mix” very well. Would definitely buy again.• Cinnamon- It’s getting really hard to find good Cinnamon hard candy, especially after Jolly Rancher’s Fire Kisses were discontinued. This is a pretty good replacement for those, but has a different mouth feel. I would buy again. Nice addition to my spice mix.• Sassafras- Wow. So, good. It’s an unusual flavor, but it somewhat citrus-like, and complements the other flavors very well. I’d definitely buy again.• Horehound- Meh. I wasn’t as familiar with this flavor when I decided it seemed “old-timey” and would complement my “mix” of flavors. I could do without it. I don’t hate it, but it’s not something I’d buy again.One thing I find odd is that Claey’s can’t find more distinct colors to make it easier to tell which candy is which flavor. There are two basic shapes that I call “footballs” and tube-like “cylinders.” (See picture.) You can see how close all the red and pink flavors are, and it’s pretty hard to tell them apart. Mixed together in a bowl, the 7 flavors mostly appear black, red, and orange.I have not tried any of the fruit flavors, but I think these candies are a real hit. I highly recommend.

Review: I absolutely love these aniseed twists! They have a milder flavour of aniseed which is nice. I love aniseed flavour but some other candies are too strong or not just right. These ones are perfect! Love them!
