A quick rundown of this product’s key features:
In this steamy tale by USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn, an American searching for her purpose escapes to a Scottish town but finds more questions than answers when she meets a brooding yet handsome handyman.
Freshly fired from her third job in a row, Bonnie St. James has lost her way. So when she and her best friend stumble upon a “help wanted” post to run a coffee shop in the Scottish Highlands, they apply on a whim. Who knows? Maybe traveling to a new place is just what she needs to figure out her next move.
When the friends arrive in the tiny idyllic town of Corsekelly, they instantly fall for the gorgeous Highland landscape and friendly townspeople. But Bonnie finds a less-than-warm welcome in Rowan MacGregor, the rugged local handyman. Busy wrestling his own demons, Rowan’s in no mood to deal with the quirky American―even if she is a bonny lass.
As Bonnie and Rowan’s paths inevitably cross, insults―and sparks―fly. Can the pair build on their similarities to help each other find purpose and direction…and maybe romance too? Or will their passionate tempers fling them apart?

Title: Let’s get real…
Review: I enjoyed most of this book and I was frustrated with other parts. I still highly recommend reading it, and let me tell you why.First off, the location! Who doesn’t dream of ditching the busy life and heading to a quaint village in Scotland?!? The author puts you smack dab in the middle of some beautiful scenery (the big Scottish men aren’t too shabby either)! The townsfolk are absolutely delightful, including the town goat! Lots of comedy and antics that make you chuckle out loud. There’s a dual love story happening and I found that pretty cool. You get just enough that it doesn’t overwhelm the main love story. The other love story is a same sex couple and it’s beautifully written. Our hero is my favorite kind—-grumpy with a heart of solid gold! He’s not perfect and certainly has his demons, but you love him from the start. Yeah, he doesn’t make a grand gesture after he messes up, but, as I state in more detail below, this book is more real life than sweep you away romance. Now our heroine- she’s a bit difficult to love. This is where I’ve seen some of the reviews for this book rapidly decline.. some people giving 1 star because they just couldn’t connect with her. I took some time to really reflect on the character and found I don’t personally identity with her-Bonnie is 24 years old and I haven’t been that age in a long time. I do, however work with younger women and once I changed my perspective I realized, this book is real. If you want your characters to be perfect and show few flaws, you might not be able to get past Bonnie’s youthful character (and yes, she is sometimes selfish and spoiled). .Now, that being said about our heroine, she had a dialogue that stuck with me immediately and is one of the memorable book quotes for me this year. If you’ve read this far, see the quote below. It’s why, regardless of there being so much realism (and toward the end of the book you may find some tears-I know I did), this still gets a 5 star from me. This is between the heroine and get bestie:“I want to make one thing clear: being gay doesn’t define you. Do you understand that? I think sometimes people fall under the impression that if you’re gay, that’s who you are. You’re gay, and they leave it at that. But that’s not fair. And just like a beautiful, nonsmelly onion” she chuckles, “you have layers, and being gay isn’t the outer ring; it isn’t even the second or third. It’s deep at your core, and you keep it there, close to your heart, because that’s the way you choose to live your life.”Mike drop. Round of applause. Brilliantly written, Ms. Quinn.

Title: Vacation romance in Scotland
Review: This book was a lot of fun. I’ve been missing Scotland and this totally made me want to go back even more! The descriptions were perfect and made the town sound cute and beautiful. I wish the statue /cave attraction was real, I would totally go 😂The main focus of the story is the friendship between Bonnie and Dakota. They’re besties and each other’s person. I loved that they took a leap of faith together. I also enjoyed both of their journeys of finding themselves. I was happy with how both of their stories ended. There are two romances here. We have the main one: Bonnie & Rowan, then the second one: Dakota & Isla. Bonnie and Rowan are grumpy/sunshine and Dakota & Isla are friends to lovers. Both romances are sweet and heartwarming. Bonnie and Rowan definitely have chemistry. I loved their banter! There is a third act break up and tons of drama towards the end but everything gets resolved with an HEA.The audiobook is great. I enjoyed the accent.A fun book to escape into. Definitely recommend!Rating: 4/5🌶️ Rating: 3/5

Title: great writer, complicated story
Review: This book had four relationships and three main characters. Bonnie a clueless, self centered, impulsive, soft hearted, blonde ding bat; Dakota her responsible, emotionally repressed best friend; Rowan the handy man, grumpy son of the coffee shop owners. Romances flair between Rowan and Bonnie with sarcasm and snarky remarks from the beginning. Rowan has relationship problems with his parents that are long standing and unresolved. He and his father deal with anger when faced with emotional issues not leading to successful communication. Then there is Dakota who has been traumatized by her first romantic relationship with a woman and is now faced with a healthy relationship with another woman, and her bestie Bonnie is being jealous and insensitive. So why 3 stars if the characterization of all three major characters was well done. Frankly I found Bonnie horrible through most the book, but she was suppose to be that way so she could have an awakening, but it was tedious and I was 90% into the book before she started to gain insight and then bam Rowan’s world falls apart. I think this needed to happen sooner and the resolution needed to be longer. It’s like everything resolved in the last half of the last chapter and the epilogue. The writer is way talented to create believable characters and to weave these lives together. It’s a personal preference I like competent intelligent heroines. So if you don’t mind hot messes, that are insensitive, impulsive and clueless as heroines give it another star. I can’t complain about the actual writing is good, the characters insight into Bonnie’s behavior is good, the confusion with communication due to personality traits is good. The romance between Dakota and Ilsa is sweet and the ending I’d heart wrenching and then resolved in the epilogue.

Title: Highland Hilarity
Review: Meghan Quinn hits perfection in The Highland Fling. Her use of comedy throughout the novel keeps you on your toes as you laugh out loud continuously. She writes two epic love stories in one book while being able to educate and entertain. The emotions in this book are strong as you follow Bonnie and Dakota on their spur of the moment runaway trip to the Scottish Highlands. Bonnie is an absolute hot mess which is endearing, of a bit brash, and Dakota is deeply hurt but an absolute gem at heart. Their journey to love, friendship and healing is a story for the ages.

Review: Wow. Just wow.Cautions before reading this book- you will eat shortbread in the same quantities that Bonnie does just saying, you have been warnedThis book has everything. The humour is pee your pants level funny. The chemistry between the characters, their development, the effort taken to incorporate the slang is next level.I loved this book.. I am a huge Meghan Quinn fan and I have to say I am in awe of this story and how it shows strong leading lady characters, that are going through relatable early 20s problems. The storyline addresses the complexity of death, grief, navigating friendships, identity/self-discovery, the impacts of breakups and self-esteem this has, same sex relationships. You experience all of these emotions right alongside the characters. Quinn doesn’t shy away, she takes your hand and leads you through every feeling, heartbreak is foreshadowed you know it’s coming but I appreciate that Quinn doesn’t make it magically disappear, these are real life struggles and the story line pushes you to keep reading and turning the pages. ❤️❤️❤️ What a ramble but it was such a refreshing read

Review: Meagan Quinn is an absolute delight! From the very first chapter, I was swept away into a world filled with charm, humor, and romance. Quinn’s writing is engaging and vibrant, painting a picturesque backdrop of the Scottish Highlands that makes you feel as though you’re right there alongside the characters. The story follows a lovable protagonist who finds herself in a series of hilarious and unexpected situations. The mix of witty banter and genuine emotion creates a perfect balance that kept me entertained throughout. The chemistry between the leads is electric, and their journey is filled with ups and downs that are both relatable and heartwarming. What I appreciated most about Highland Fling is how it seamlessly blends romance with personal growth. The characters are well-developed, each with their own struggles and triumphs, which adds depth to the story.

Review: This is one of my favourite books! It is just so cozy set in a coffee shop in a small Scottish town. There is character growth, and development. All of the characters personality and backstory is not just revealed at the beginning but rather revealed throughout the book, and while at times its predictable, its done in a way that reflects the characters personalities. The story line is super well written and has lots of comedy and spice and romance. The side characters added so much to this story, they supported the main characters and each other and felt like they had their own unique personalities and that they belonged/were needed in the plot rather than just people to fill up the setting.I love Meghan Quinn but find her to sometimes write female characters who are a bit overly quirky, and while I found that the characters had overly quirky moments they were relatable and seemed like actual human beings who exist. Spoilers** There is a third act breakup due to miscommunication and other fights due to miscommunication which is kind of annoying but wasn’t done in a dramatic way that ruined the book for me.This love story was so cute that it made me want to run off to the Scottish highlands for my own little love story. One of my favourite stories and definitely one of my comfort reads.
