A quick rundown of this product’s key features:

The New York Times bestselling author of The Case for Trump explains the decline and fall of the once cherished idea of American citizenship.

Human history is full of the stories of peasants, subjects, and tribes. Yet the concept of the “citizen” is historically rare—and was among America’s most valued ideals for over two centuries. But without shock treatment, warns historian Victor Davis Hanson, American citizenship as we have known it may soon vanish.

In The Dying Citizen, Hanson outlines the historical forces that led to this crisis. The evisceration of the middle class over the last fifty years has made many Americans dependent on the federal government. Open borders have undermined the idea of allegiance to a particular place. Identity politics have eradicated our collective civic sense of self. And a top-heavy administrative state has endangered personal liberty, along with formal efforts to weaken the Constitution.

As in the revolutionary years of 1848, 1917, and 1968, 2020 ripped away our complacency about the future. But in the aftermath, we as Americans can rebuild and recover what we have lost. The choice is ours.

Title: A wake up call for many who take for granted their citizenship of America.
Review: Many of us who were born and raised in the U.S. don’t fully appreciate the rights and privileges we do have in this country. We tend to take so much for granted. This book is a must read for anyone who loves America and values their citizenship. Mr. Hanson methodically explains how we got to where we are as a country that is composed of citizens, legal and illegal residents and where we are headed, if we don’t make some changes. Its very thought provoking and will make you rethink and appreciate what it means to be an American.

Title: Incredibly Well Written Book
Review: As we continue seeing the devaluing of actually being a citizen of our nation, many problems are unfolding. I doubt Russia, China, Japan, Korea, Iraq, or most other countries would be moving toward non-citizens being given voting and other rights. It’s impacting those who pay taxes and support our nation’s infrastructure. Regardless of anyone’s opinion, the objective impact on crime, national debt, and many other areas is being seen in major cities across our nation. No one can deny the value of becoming a citizen, related to respect and investment in America. An important book at this moment in American history. Incredibly well researched and written. No matter where you stand on this, it’s excellent food for thought.

Title: A Landmark Work
Review: We have arrived at one of the most critical junctures in the history of America, and VDH addresses how we have gotten to this point, in this instant classic. Even if you are already hyper-aware of the current events that are mentioned in this book, it is still a very heavy, unsettling, almost painful, yet compulsive and insightful read. He informs the reader, in a historical context, of what it means to be a citizen, pre-citizen and post-citizen, from ancient to modern times, and especially what it means to be American citizen – something unprecedented in human history. He then goes onto explain how reverting to precitizenship – citizens reverting to more archaic social patterns – and postcitizenship – elites who think they are above the idea of citizenship – are chipping away at our inalienable rights, and how it is our inherent responsibility as citizens to not allow that to happen. VDH brings forth an airtight argument as to why the Founders structured America the way it is, why the Constitution is of utmost importance, and how straying away from these principles ultimately leads to disaster.I would like to recommend a couple requisite books that go well, either before or after reading “The Dying Citizen”, which are: “The Federalist” by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, Jon Jay; and “Knowledge and Decisions” by Thomas Sowell – both of which I consider to be the most important works in the history of our country that allow a citizen to understand why America is structured the way it is – the former explaining why the constitution is of it’s design, and the latter an exhaustive economic treatise that examines how knowledge is transmitted and modern societies function. I personally think VDH, in many ways, is the heir to Thomas Sowell (given that Dr. Sowell is nearing age 92), and he has proved that by delivering this important work that – as Devin Nunes stated – “shows once again why he is America’s premier scholar, writer, and political observer”. This book is required reading for every American, and anyone that cares about our civil liberties and future freedom. Spread it to as many family and friends as possible.

Title: The American citizen is slowing becoming DOA
Review: This book is very detailed. As it should be. A long read and my case a 17 hour listen on Audible. I actually gave up on the reading. It was to verbose for me with words and concepts above my pay grade. The listen was easier. Sorry, I am not lazy, but with a two hour commute every day back and forth to work…I got to do something with time. Constructive use if it is quite important to me…either listening to Mark Levin Show daily podcasts or listening to books like this. This book definitely provides the reader on every aspect of how the American citizen is “dying”. Each chapter provides a very insightful and profound look on how this happening. Dr. Hansen is on point on all aspects of this conundrum. The American citizen was a result of historical events that happened over many thousands of years. To be an American up until recently was an honor, but now not so much. Whether it’s deluded by unfettered immigration, draconian government mandates, ignoring the Constitution completely et al, the American citizen has been nearly eliminated from having any importance at all.A sad state of affairs indeed. But, truly citizenship is an international problem befalling most countries around the world. This more of pandemic than COVID. The ramifications of the dying citizen is becoming irreparable to the point of no return. Dr. Hansen is brilliant in his soliloquy of facts that he has researched, gleaned, and put all into context so everyone can understand. If the reader does not, then it is either because they cannot comprehend what was read or the concepts are to intricate to understand. Whatever the case, find a way to absorb was has been written whether through an audiobook or logging on line and watch the free 8 part (30 mins each) presentation from Dr. Victor Davis Hansen from Hillsdale College. This subject matter in this book is imperative for everyone that cares about America to read and learn about.

Review: This book reaches very deep into “civilization” as it influenced the America Founders and their attempt in creating an “experimental” government to prevent the present illness that is now destroying it internally. The book exposes, with indisputable evidence (well footnoted) the corruption withing the government and those politicians who have been dismantling the Constitution to obtain their own personal goals and ideologies at the expense of the nation. It exposes by their greed and corruption how they’ve deliberately allowed “tribalism” and division to take root in the USA and use it as a political tool to seize power at the expense of its citizens. This is a must read for those who can and that intend to vote (with proof of citizenship) in the American presidential election coming this November 2024 so you understand who must be voted out of government. Most American people are not aware of the danger that their country is facing and this book will clarify and shed light on their lack of knowledge to hopefully guide them in preventing America from becoming a Banana Republic. In saying the above it would also be good for any European reader to understand how a similar mechanism is at work in their own country and will lead to the same negative result.Vive la République
