Title: Fight Bowie’s bulge with you friends!
Review: This is a really fantastic game. If you’ve ever played Dungeons and Dragons and Forbidden Island/Desert, this is almost like a mashup of the two. The game plays out pretty much with players trying to get closer to each other and “improving” their character’s traits without getting knocked out of the game. Rules seem complex at the start but actually work out to be fairly simple once you’ve had a round of play. And if you’re a fan of the movie, it plays true to the story. It very much resembles Walking Dead Risk in this way: Being reminiscent of the story in the way the game unfolds.Players can choose to team up which has pros and cons or stay separate to achieve certain goals. In the end, it works out better if you’re together (just like the movie!) and you have more choice when fighting the Elf King in the end. And yes, David Bowie’s character replica also has a noticeable bulge. The game doesn’t take long to get through, probably 20-40 minutes of play time depending one ages and attention to the game. All the pieces are well crafted and the level of skill required is fairly open. Lots of fan service in a way that’s meaningful to the gameplay and all around fun for everyone. Jim Henson and Bowie would be proud.

Title: You remind me of a babe…
Review: This game is really fun. I bought this for my wife as she is a huge fan of the movie. There’s a slight learning curve to the game, as there are many dice that different characters roll, but all in all, our first play through the game went very well.In contrast to many board games, you are not playing against your fellow players, but rather as a team trying to defeat the evil Jareth. Each player controls one of the four characters (Sarah, Hoggle, Didymus, and Ludo), and you navigate the labyrinth avoiding dangers while trying to find the way on. Since we only had two players, we each controlled two of the characters. The hazards are very thematic to the movie and it is a real pleasure if you’re familiar with the film. One of the challenges involved reciting lines from the movie (“You remind me of a babe…”).My one complaint is that the final confrontation with Jareth is performed by Sarah alone, meaning only one player participates. This was only a minor problem, and overall, the game was very fun.The 5 character miniatures (four playable characters plus Jareth) are supplied unpainted, which may be a let down for some, but I enjoy painting miniatures, so it doesn’t bother me.

Title: We really enjoy the flavor of the game
Review: We really enjoy the flavor of the game, but be aware it is designed for as young as 6, so don’t expect immersive gameplay with lots of strategic decision making. The deepest choices you’ll make are “should I roll a smaller die to move?”, “should I move left or right”?, and “should I use my special card to reroll with a d20 for this test?” Everything else is perfectly random, and it’s easy to lose the game to RNG (random number generation), which can be very frustrating. For example, Jareth and Gigantus roll a d20 (blue die), and if they roll anything higher than a 12, the characters have no chance (since the biggest die anyone gets is a d12), unless they use Sarah’s ability card or one of the drawn cards (hat or worm) to reroll using the d20, which is pretty risky when you’re looking at a 5-40% chance of winning even that roll. So yeah. Be prepared to have some frustrating losses. Also, we decided it’s dumb to have to memorize the final “poem” that has no sense of poetry (it’s just a monologue), but you can choose to require that if you don’t find the game difficult enough already. 😛

Title: Fun game for fans of labyrinth
Review: This was a great board game, it did take 2 play throughs to understand the rules but if you are a fan of the movie it is pretty enjoyable. I also enjoyed the minatures that were provided. It was my first time painting and was a fun time to play with colorful characters.

Review: What a find this was. My wife and daughter are huge fans of the film and we were looking for a game to play as a family. This was a bit complicated to play the first few times but once you’re into it, it’s a good fun game. It’s easy to lose the game as well so you don’t always win and promotes good team work. All of the contents in the box are premium, it’s a very well made game with a sturdy board, well made characters which could be kept as collectibles and a good explanatory book of instructions. Keep it nice if you buy it, it’s resale value can go up!

Review: The creators of this game did an amazing job. The art work, creativity and character game pieces are perfect. I’ll need to look into painting the character pieces at some point.I was so excited to play the board game the day it arrived. After opening it looked super complicated but the instruction book was well laid out. We got ourselves set up and figured the rules out as we played. It is such a perfect idea you are racing against time to make it through the labrynth. I thought it would be a piece of cake, turned out I had to make a last ditch effort to save Tobi from being turned into a goblin in the final hour. Both my husband and I were impressed with the game he isn’t a labrynth fan like I am, but he said would definitely play this game again.I bought a second game for a friends birthday gift, she and I are big big Labyrinth fans. This game will make her squeal with delight as her birthday parties theme is a Labyrinth masqarade ball. 🙂
