Title: money worth spent
Review: If your reading this because the movie had same name, then your wasting your time here and need to go to infinity gauntlet. This is the aftermath of that story. Even still, I highly recommend this amazing written story. Seeing the evil version of characters facing each other is pretty nice to see, also the aftermath of this/ side story was also good as you learn more about Gamora’s relationship with Thanos.

Title: Worth it!
Review: Except for the underwhelming Mole Man and his roster of monsters, the Infinity War presents a lively follow up to Infinity Gauntlet Aftermath. Some unprecedented alliances form to either prevent all reality’s destruction or gain ultimate power themselves. Galactus, Eternity, Thanos, and the Living Tribunal make their grandiose appearances again, and Doctor Doom and Kang weave their way into important roles. With an astounding and ingenious plot twist, the Infinity War takes the title of a “must-read” for the Marvel finatic.

Title: Fine as a sequel, doesn’t really stand on it’s own
Review: The collection is oddly formatted, it includes the core infinity war books which stand on their own, as well as tie in issues of infinity watch and a collection of thanos backups which occur in the middle of the story. That’s fine but they’re not really assembled in a reading order that makes sense. The infinity watch books happen in between issues of infinity war, but they’re put at the end like an epilouge when they probably should have been throughout. The thanos stories are more self contained and work fine as an epilouge, but the infinity watch issues don’t really connect to each other so much as they do the main title, so reading them all at the end is a little weird. The quality of the stories fairs better than the collection itself, but it’s notably worse than the previous infinity gauntlet story, it hits a lot of the same notes but never quite as well. Overall the book is just okay but it’s high notes are really high, the included infinity watch books are a bit better and help push it above 3 stars. If you’ve already read infinity gauntlet and want more it’s not disappointing, but if you’re looking for a starting point or want to read something in anticipation of the new movie check out gauntlet first.

Title: Excellent book, but not the comic version of the movie.
Review: Just in time for Infinity War the movie! This book isn’t the movie in comic form, but it does give you a great deal of background into Thanos and the heroes who tried to save the universe. Makes an excellent companion to the movie!

Title: Great story line
Review: This book was great in its own way. It was definitely not what I expected but it had a good plot. I thought Thanos would be the villain but he was not.

Title: Not as serious as the Infinity Gauntlet
Review: Before I say anything else, let it be STRONGLY said that I am a true- die hard- Marvel Comics fan. I met Stan Lee at a comic convention back around 2001… BEST day of my life. Review: I read the Infinity Gauntlet-for the first time- before reading this collection. To me – even as much of a Marvel Comics fan as I am- this Infinity War collection doesnt follow the events of Infinity Gauntlet… where mass numbers of the Earth’s population could be erased…as seriously as it could have. Dont get me wrong- I love and admire the artistry and characters included- it’s just that the story seems a little too much like a ‘The good guy always wins’ story to follow the collection that came out before this comic book mark.

Review: In case you’re not aware, this trade paperback is probably not the first one you should read when tackling Marvel’s Infinity saga. If you want to get the full picture, you should start with the countdown to Infinity Gauntlet (most notably “Silver Surfer – Rebirth of Thanos”), then “Infinity Gauntlet” and I would also recommend “Infinity Gauntlet Aftermath” for the sake of completion. After Infinity Gauntlet comes Infinity War. Up to this point, Thanos acquired the six infinity gems making him essentially “god” but he was eventually defeated by Adam Warlock, earth’s heroes and a series of cosmic entities. At the end of Infinity Gauntlet, Warlock possesses the infinity gauntlet, is able to reverse Thanos’ finger snap and Thanos is exiled. After the Infinity Gauntlet (events described in “Infinity Gauntlet – Aftermath”), Warlock is put on trial and the Living Tribunal declares that Warlock needs to split up ownership of the gems. He then decides to keep the Soul gem for himself, while sharing the other gems with the newly formed Infinity Watch – himself, Gamora, Pip the Troll, Drax the Destroyer, Moondragon and a mysterious sixth element. This Infinity War TPB runs at about 400 pages and collects Infinity War 1-6 (the bulk of the TPB, this is the main story itself at about ~40 pages per issue), Warlock and the Infinity Watch 7-10 (tie-ins, picking up right after Infinity Gauntlet Aftermath) and Marvel Comics Presents 108-111.Focusing on the main story, Infinity War, what we have here is the return of Magus (not a surprise, as he is featured on the back cover), who is Warlock’s “evil twin”, essentially. Magus has acquired a mysterious source of power, has created an army of doppelgangers (all “evil twins” of earth’s heroes, Thanos, etc.) and has a plan to wrest the infinity gems away from Warlock and his Infinity Watch. For me, this is the highlight, the best story in the entire Infinity saga trilogy, as it has a little bit of everything – Warlock, the Infinity Watch and Thanos on one side, earth’s heroes with infiltrated doppelgangers on the other, Doctor Doom and Kang working together, as well as another group led by Galactus. All of these groups are trying to understand who is behind this and what is happening, but somehow their decisions and actions are playing into Magus’ plans. Anything else would be a spoiler, so let’s leave it here. This is a great story, epic and beautifully illustrated. After this one, you’ll want to continue the saga with “Infinity War Aftermath”, which sets the stage for “Infinity Crusade”, the third part of the trilogy.

Review: Just as happened during the events which led Thanos to achieve ultimate power donning the Infinity Gauntlet and his struggle with both good and bad sides, this novel dives even deeper in Thanos’s feelings and thoughts, showing that despite his efforts, his moral compass is much bigger than he thought. This novel is really a nice sequel.
