The ball head allows for smooth, precise movements that are essential for capturing those perfect shots. Whether you’re adjusting for portrait or landscape orientations or anything in-between, the movement is seamless. One of the standout features of this SmallRig ball head is its 360-degree rotating capability. This allows for panoramic photography, making it an ideal choice for landscape photographers or anyone interested in creating stunning wide-view images. The ease of rotation and the secure locking mechanism ensure that once you have your shot lined up, it stays in place without any drift. What many might not realize is how versatile this ball head can be. For those with older or mid-level tripods, the SmallRig ball head is a fantastic upgrade. Many of these tripods have removable heads, allowing you to replace them with something more modern and feature-rich, like this SmallRig model. Title: Great upgrade for the Slik Sprint Pro tripod
Review: I have the Slik Sprint Pro tripod, and love it, but hate the Slik ball head and cork camera shoe. This SmallRig head and shoe is awesome. Fits the Slik tripod perfectly and holds my Nikon Zfc with 18-200 DX lens with Ftz adapter without slipping.

Title: Great ball head and arca swiss base plate!
Review: I do product and beverage photography and needed a new ball head for my studio setup that allowed me to use my camera L bracket to mount on my tripod. This allows me to set my tripod and then swap from portrait to landscape just by using my L bracket on the arca swiss plate. My shoot process is faster and more consistent due to this ball head.

Title: Works well
Review: I recently wanted to replace the double-handled head on my travel tripod with a ball head.Even though the Small Rig has no visible insert protecting the ball surface I see no signs of it being scratched or interfering with operation or robustness. One reviewer reported it was noisy. I wouldn’t say that, but it makes light scratching noises. The Small Rig ball diameter is not reported. The intended tripod is only rated at 2.7kg. My priorities were size & mass, so I saw no reason to have a heavier rated ball head on it.I like the idea of it being able to mount on a 3/8-16 or 1/4-20 threaded post.

Title: Looks nice on my desk…
Review: I use this and the small rig arm as a mount for my web cam for work. Totally overkill but look really sharp on my desk. Mounted to my monitor stand. The ball head and quick release making moving the camera around very easy.

Title: Too Flimsy
Review: The head is very unstable and flimsy. The knobs are no progressive and get undone easily and camera gies crashing! Do not recommend this product.

Review: This is brilliant! I have a Nikon D5600 and was gifted a Vanguard tripod two years ago (Vanguard Alta Pro 2+ 263AP Aluminium 3-section Tripod with MACC and 3-way Pan Head). It’s a great tripod in its own right – very sturdy but, a bit cumbersome in some situations where I’d like to adjust it quickly. This ball head attachment works fantastically and is very sturdy and smooth in movement. I just screwed the unit into the quick-release platform on the tripod and then screwed the attachment’s release plate onto my camera. Highly recommend it – excellent value for money and preferable at this stage to not spend a small fortune on a whole new tripod that already has a ball head mechanism.

Review: no plastic between metal ball and head frame, so adjusting the camera when the ball is under tension is not smooth and binds sometimes. Otherwise well made. I have a different smallrig ball head that came with my tripod and it is good.

Review: Really like this so far. Easy to use quick release plate, entirely metal construction on screws and bolt mechanisms so no cracked plastic, quite heavy and feels like a quality build. Screws hold as they’re supposed to. The only thing I would change is having the quick release plate be compatible with the standard ones on my tripod as I have this permanently set up on a cold shoe on my ring light but occasionally use my tripod to get a different angle on the light which means faffing around removing the plate. All they really needed to do was change the length slightly and dent the short edges as well as the long at both ends and it would have slotted perfectly into my quick release tripod slot.
