A quick rundown of this product’s key features:

IT’S THE DAWN OF A NEW AGE IN EUROPE: During the early 15th century, universities are being established to challenge the influence of religion on academic studies. Little did the founders of these institutions know that this would ignite academic pursuits that would bring about a cultural revolution.
STRATEGY GAME: In the Early Renaissance, players serve as headmasters of one of the independent universities in the 15th century. Players seek to strengthen their school’s reputation and standing.
MULTIPLE PATHS TO VICTORY: To achieve these goals, players need to recruit the best staff and students, exchange knowledge with other schools, and become experts in the school’s four disciplines!
HIGH VARIABILITY: Everyone plays towards the same goals but each player follows a different path depending on the combination of professors, students and chancellors that they use. Only a part of the material is used in each game, making it highly replayable.
NUMBER OF PLAYERS AND AVERAGE PLAYTIME: This fun family board game is made for 2 to 4 players and is suitable for ages 14 and up. The average playtime is approximately 90 to 150 minutes.

Title: Fun midweight game
Review: Not sure why this game doesn’t get more love. It’s a pretty elegant euro game with decent decision space and multiple parts to consider. Production is great, and when it’s on sale for less than $30, it’s a great value.

Title: Looks a bit intimidating, but a good game
Review: This game has a complex setup and appears to have a ton of rules. Its a modified version of a worker placement/action selection game where each player is trying to establish the most prestigious university through careful selection of the proper combination of students, teachers, and class upgrades. Its very much a point salad type game with many different possible choices.I haven’t gotten a ton of games in so I can’t say if any one strategy is the best. The game is so complex that its difficult to bring to the table and analysis paralysis is definitely a possibility.Still its interesting and definitely pushes the players into thinking and careful consideration of their choices. so for me, its a 4 star.

Title: Educated mess
Review: Depending on whoch professors & busts you select during setup, actions and the game economy can get very tight. This leads to a smothering vibe where no player feels like he or she is getting anywhere. Ironically, it feels too long despite having few round, with few actions to take… pretty book pieces and nice art tgo?

Title: Setup Took Two Hours
Review: Insanely complicated to learn and set up, and I have a PhD. By the time we got it set up, it was bedtime. My 12-year old was disappointed he spent a bunch of money on the game. Not sure we will ever get to play it since set-up takes so long and the rules are so baroque. Also weird to have “prestige” as the point of the game.

Title: Great game
Review: Takes a bit to learn. But original and challenging enough in gameplay to be worth it.Theme and components (which are too-notch) help with learning. Rewarding to play if you want to jump to a tighter, more challenging game than castles of burgundy, grand Austria hotel, or Coimbra.
