Title: A Fun Solo Game
Review: I was not overly familiar with this game but went for it on a hunch based on reviews here and on BGG. After a cursory spin through the rule book that was serviceable but not always easy to glean the rules in a structured way – you have to jump around to even understand the flow of the round. But, in the end, I got the gist, set the game up, and then made my way through the game with just the occasional stumble.I played the game solo and found the experience challenging and just barely pulled off a win on what would have been the final round of the game. This was easily beginners luck and not my command of the game (I lost the next two games). But each game was fun and that’s why I enjoy playing. Subtle changes in the draw of cards and the character chosen offers a lot of replayability. In fact, I enjoyed it enough to go ahead and order the expansion/upgrade.

Title: The board game box was already open.
Review: The board game box was already open when I received it. The cards were thrown around losely in the box, and some kind of price tag sticker is half removed off the top of the box. The sticker left a sticky residue and covers some of the art work. Not sure why I received an already open box with damage to the top lid of the box, but it seems like all pieces as there and none of them seem damaged. This is a birthday gift for my son later this month, so I cannot comment on the gameplay yet.

Title: Solid Game
Review: My wife and I enjoy games that have a cooperative option and the theme here – dystopian bounty-hunting adventure – piqued our interest. We played through the entire game in co-op mode. I can say that we made a lot of mistakes but after one full play-through we have a great feel for the game. The instruction manual is intuitive overall, making it easy to learn and follow, especially as we played through the game for our first time. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys cooperative games.

Title: The Few and Cursed Review
Review: Rock Manor Games returns to the deck builder with The Few and Cursed, based on the comic series of the same name by Felipe Cagno. The game has players taking Curse Chasers hunting bounties, doing jobs, surviving the wastes, and killing monsters in a post-apocalyptic, Western-style world where most water is long gone. Throughout the game, each character must manage their health, bullets, and curse levels as they try to protect San Andreas from monster attacks and earn the most Grit to become the most famous Curse Chaser. The Few and the Cursed is an exciting entry into the world of deck building. Instead of players buying new cards for their deck, they pick one of two new cards drawn from an upgrade deck each turn. The cards they fill their deck with are used to move around the board, accumulate attack power, increase/reduce curse, and earn water, the game’s currency. New items to equip can be purchased from the shop or jobs to complete while in San Andreas. These smaller cards are placed under the character board and not included in a player’s deck.Once the players move out of San Andreas, they brave ruins, canyons, and desert trying to reach the four corners of the board to collect powerful artifacts, fight powerful bounties, and survive in the wasteland along the way. There are normal bounties to fight, most-wanted bounties, and four different monsters that can appear on the board to threaten San Andreas. Once all the artifacts are collected, three monsters are defeated, or a monster enters San Andreas; the game ends with the player with the most Grit winning. The game is excellent, balancing each of its different facets and causing players to try and juggle every threat and limited resource on the board. The curse mechanic is particularly interesting, allowing a player to gain a powerful boost while at the same time losing health if they push their luck too far. Hoarding bullets to increase your attack and water to buy upgrades is extremely important, though somewhat tricky at times. Actual deck building plays a smaller, though vital, part of the overall game. With fantastic artwork and production, a killer theme, and a great comb of deck building, area movement, and combat, The Few and Cursed is a damn good game. It packs a ton of action into a relatively small timeframe, with games usually taking 45 minutes to an hour. The few small gripes to be had are the rulebook, which could have been a bit clearer in some places, and the fact that the box could use a better storage system than just a cardboard insert and some baggies. The Few and Cursed is a game begging for a 3rd party, custom insert. The Few and Cursed is familiar enough that experienced deck-building fans will pick it right up. At the same time, it has a uniqueness that warrants adding it to your collection, even if you’ve got a few deck builders in there already.
