Title: Don’t buy.
Review: My friend got this game on sale at Marshall’s. I’m glad, because our only chance to get value from the game was laughing at its incompetence in our first play through. The rule book is short and lacking in arbitrations. The bridge and zip line are clear on requiring movement, the raft is clear on not requiring movement, but the dinghy has frustratingly little about what it allows. Do you use movement or does it move you across? Does it leave you on the water tile or put you on the shore? This is one example. The monsters lack strategy. We ended up placing flood tiles directly next to players to block their paths (as would be encouraged by strategy), meaning that before the next player’s turn they would move the monster if revealed to attack the person it was placed near before that player is allowed to react. There was no chase or running or sabotage. With movement being limited, it’s easy for a player to become locked from progressing in the game. The photo above is from an unfinished play state. The players along the left route had picked up the power cells along their to have them taken with monsters (also see the monsters placed direct next to another player). Moving to try to get more power cells and then back to the objective was a prohibitively long path of play for these players. The card variety is lacking. Scooters and skateboards are exactly the same. Every item requires rope, meaning a lack of rope leads to an inability to craft.the winning player got to the helipad with no power cells (their 3 got stolen), and won by stealing 4 cells from other players from the safe tiles near the helipad, which is an illogical and unsatisfying way to win. We were glad the game was over.Don’t waste your time. This feels like a beta test that needs more work. I have some suggestions:- Add some examples in the instructions for weird cases (movement rules of cards, monster/flood deployment, etc.)- allow trading?? Could make card variety less of a problem and add complexity to alliances/team play- disallow flooding next to people (maybe more than two tiles away) so that instant stealing isn’t the deciding factor of the game. Thank you.

Review: I bought this for a 13 year old but our youngest player was 10. It was easy to set up and start playing quickly. We got two rules wrong, first time round, and enjoyed it even more the second round with the correct rules! You have to add the water tiles adjacent to other water tiles and once the sea monster has struck, it is removed from the board. It doesn’t take too long to play, but is tactical enough to make it interesting.

Review: I found this to be a slightly complex game to initially get my head around, and my younger child struggled. The instructions are good but I did have to re-read them a few times and have them close when playing. However once you know what you are doing this is good fun. Everything feels well made and I like that the dice are wooden, rather than plastic for two reasons. One, less plastic is a good thing and two… wood floats. The gameplay basically involves escaping to the helipad on the opposite side of the board, but first you must collect some power packs. All the while the board may start to “flood”, limiting your access, and monsters may appear. With four dice, players choose two out of the four outcomes on a roll which gives a decent level of variable to what you want to do. When your way is blocked and water is present, scavenging items to make ziplines or bridges introduces further new tactics. The use of LA as the setting is cool and I would have loved maybe a different city on the reverse of the board – say maybe New York or London – with a different layout to help add extra variety. As it is, this is a good fun multiplayer game for the older gamer.

Review: This game is absolutely brilliant, and I really enjoyed playing it with my friends at our weekly games night. It was very easy to set up, easy to understand the gameplay and the rules and of course the best part is that we had an absolute blast while playing it. It’s a lot of fun! I like the design and style of the game and it’s very durable and strong so it will last a long time and we can reuse it again in the future. I look forward to getting it out again at Christmas! I feel this game is very giftable and would make a fantastic present for someone or as a family gift. We didn’t have any issues or problems with playing it and the gameplay was really engaging so I happily recommend it. I feel it’s very good value for money and it gets a huge thumbs up from us.

Review: Sorry to have taken so long to review this; it took some time to get together with the Witch and Warlock next door to play it. We found that, although the game takes a long time to set up and has loads of rules, once you get going it is a fascinating game with just the right balance of luck and strategy. It kept four of us (all Senior Citizens) enthralled for over 3 hours until one of us managed to win by riding his skateboard and scooter cards to the helipad. Don’t imagine for a second that, because the game is set in Los Angeles, it is only for Americans; it could be any city in the world. You don’t need to know anything about America to play it.

Review: I felt that the game was good and we had fun but not as engaging as I had hoped. We played with two players and I’m thinking it might be more fun with four players we will testit on next family game night. The game seems sturdy and well made. It is a fast-paced adventure that requires strategic thinking. I feel it was quite expensive but worth the money.
