Title: Bright and breezy window into the late ’50s
Review: Kudos to Amazon and CBS Home Entertainment for making this rarely seen show available again. Today’s audiences will not be familiar with the names of Lori Nelson or Merry Anders, but everyone will recognize Barbara Eden in her first regular role here. She is just as adorable, sweet and gorgeous here as she was on I DREAM OF JEANNIE. The format of three ladies scheming to land a rich husband may seem dated to modern audiences, but this was the late ’50s, and this was a novel format compared to all the family comedies that dominated the era. I’ve only watched the first episode at this writing, but the film transfer is outstanding for a show more than half a century old, and one that presumably has been moldering in the vaults for decades. I love shows like THE DONNA REED SHOW and OZZIE AND HARRIET, don’t get me wrong, but it is so refreshing to see a show which hasn’t been over-exposed with at least ten repeats a week, which sub channels like Antenna TV and ME TV do which beats a show into the ground. The 39 shows contained on this set are a marked contrast to today, when you get maybe 13 shows a season. A fun time capsule into the late ’50s, in beautiful black-and-white prints, if you want to see something nostalgic and different, this show is for you!

Title: How To Marry Barbara Eden!!!
Review: Very enjoyable 1950’s CBS TV series starring the young and beautiful Barbara Eden (with a little baby-fat) as the nearsighted, farsighted not too bright comic book loving Loco Jones. Having been too young when this originally aired back in 1957-1958, this is my first time seeing it. The storylines are genuinely funny, not at all stupid like many of the 1960’s era CBS titles. Picture quality is not excellent but very very good. Thank goodness nothing like many Shout Factory releases which look like bootlegs.
