The founder of the FanVince was initially an outstanding carpenter and had learned carpentry from Sam Maloof. In the mid to late 19th century, he first came into contact with chess at gathering with friends and became fascinated by the wisdom and fun involved, joining the Marshall Chess Club. Due to his fanatical love for chess, he turned to the creation of chess and established his own brand in 1988.
Materials
Each piece of wood is selected from walnut trees that has grown for hundreds of years in the Appalachian Mountains of North America.
All chess boards are made of raw wood, and their carving respects the natural growth of the wood, preserving its natural texture.
Splined mitre
We instead adhere to the most traditional mortise and tenon process for splicing.
Handmade Decal
The surface of the chessboard uses decal technology. We only produce 3000 boxes of chess each year.

Each piece of wood needs to be naturally dried for 3-6 months after being cut back, until it is completely dry.
From planing wood, preliminary cutting, to carving, polishing, and painting, a series of steps are all purely handmade.
